@Jah. Sogyal was an insatiable womaniser from puberty. Maybe before. He is a spoiled brat who exploits his power over women. He is a sadist who enjoys beating people and humiliating them in public. He is a charlatan who was never trained as a lama. He is a liar -- he did not write The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. It was ghosted for him by Patrick Gaffney and Andrew Harvey. He is a con man wh

An investigative documentary on Sogyal Lakar aka Rinpoche will be aired on Vision TV in Canada on 23 May. It will also be on Bold TV in Canada. Deals with broadcasters in the USA, France and Australia are pending. The programme will be on a web site which for legal reasons is only accessible in Canada. I will receive a disc of the item soon and am willing to arrange viewings in the UK.

Self-styled guru Michael Lyons claimed to be a disciple of the Dalai Lama and attended meetings in London of the Drukpa Kagyu branch of Tibetan Buddhism. During his trial he was said to have enjoyed a luxurious life-style, with a penthouse apartment and chauffeur-driven Bentley and Mercedes cars. Lyons, also known as Mohan Singh, was said to be surrounded with “young, charming women”who recruited

Hi Noname, Thank YOU for your contribution to the steadily-increasing body of evidence re Sogyal and Rigpa. I would very much like to communicate with you directly, rather than via a forum -- with homage to Rick Ross and his patient work over many years! You can Google my real name me and email me via my web site. I am the journalist who wrote the item about Sogyal in The Guardian in 1995.

This is a good, comprehensive report on the Mohan case. I think we should rejoice that: *The UK police and the FBI took this seriously *That a precedent is now in place which should encourage women to give evidence against other sexual abusers, inc Sogyal Lakar and Christopher Hansard *That the judge saw fit to impose a 10 year sentence

A prolific sexual predator who posed as a guru and "healer" with Tibetan Buddhist connections has been found guilty of rape and sexual abuse by Wood Green Crown Court in London. Michael Lyons, known as Mohan Singh, was given a TEN YEAR jail sentence. This case was successful because app 14 women were willing to give evidence. The reason sexual abuse cases are so difficult to deal with

A CULT leader who preyed on vulnerable women has been jailed for 10 years, after being found guilty of raping one and sexually assaulting another. Michael Lyons, who went by the name of Mohan Singh, posed as spiritual guru to reel his victims in by convincing them he was a healer who could help them. He was brought to trial following a trans-Atlantic investigation involving Scotland Yard a

Gassho Corboy -- an exemplary analysis. I love the Stanford Cookie experiment. It takes the biscuit..... On the basis that internet material is open access, I am pasting your post onto Dialogue Ireland. It is more likely to be read there by Sogyal's enablers than it is here. They NEED to read it. But the chance of an epiphany from within the close circle is remote. They have invested too m

I have to stick to my guns re Tibetan lamas. I am in touch with Tib Budh people worldwide and have visited centres on four continents. I am known as a researcher into the seedier aspects of the Tibetan diaspora, so people come to me with their stories. Obviously many are coloured by strong emotions -- but after listening to them for 30 years I can identify common denominators which allow me to ev

Er no -- I cannot quote sources. The 98% is a guestimate based on my own research. This has been thorough over an extended period of time. I was a naive devotee, totally in love with Tibetan dharma. Also a journalist with an appetite for gossip. Slowly but steadily info started to trickle through to me from a variety of sources (June Campbell, author of Travellers in Space, for example) that som

The most recent thread on Dialogue Ireland has degenerated into a ping pong match between a Buddhist "expert" and a Rigpa plant. To say that both are tenacious is an understatement. It is boring and repetetive but if anyone's interested here's the link The reason I point this up is that the Buddhist "expert", who currently posts under the pseudo BC, appears to be

The most relevant information and comment on Sogyal takes place on But alas resecently this thread, which is not pre-moderated, is being trashed by a troll -- almost certainly planted by Sogyal's multi-national business Mafia known as Rigpa. It is now pointless for me to continue posting there because the atmosphere is so distracted and toxic it makes me ill every time I look. So -- he

Little birds have been twittering in the trees recently...it seems Rigpa has the collywobbles re this board and others, but especially that infernal nuisance Pema. Seems that the party faithful in France were summoned to a meeting in Paris where poodle-in-chief Dominque Side regaled them with a massive dose of spin. Her aim, one gathers, was to refute all tesitimony that bears any resemblance t

Hello Rudy, I searched your site as best I could, but did not find the reference to CH that you mention. I checked Web Sherriff..hmmmm. IMHO-- it would be almost impossible to legally enforce anything they mention, but I admit to a cursory scan rather than an in depth survey. IMHO (again) if Hansard had a case against individuals who have posted on this site, he would have sued by now. I don

Hi Wangdrag, I'm not sure how you know that I respect Nkagpa Chogyam -- are you one of the moderators of this site? Just to set the record straight -- I respect people for their personal qualities -- not because others denigrate them and their traditions. Martin BOORD and Gudrun might well put Chogyam down -- but where are their credentials? They obtained them from the same source. They can

Hi Shimon, In pre-Chinese Tibet it was widely accepted that one should be ultra cautious in one's committment to a spiritual master. In many cases one was advised to observe a possible guru for 12 years before making the profound, life-changing step of entrusting your whole being to another person. In turn, the lama was careful about who s/he took on as a student. Accepting responsibility f

Cranial -- I fully understand your frustration and anger, but I have given up on trying to take Christopher Hansard out of circulation. Why? Because despite years of pleas to women who have suffered as a result of his unethical behaviour and sexual predations, none of them apart from his former fiancee, have had the courage to stand up and be counted -- either in court or in the media. They have

You are absolutely on the button Charlene. The zeigeist is shifting towards exposing these abuses and standing up for the victims, rather than trying to protect the perpetrators. Hushing up abuse is often motivated by a sincere wish not to damage the reputation of Tibetan Buddhism. There used to be some merit in this POV, but I am now convinced that the whole Tib Budh diaspora needs a thorough ov

Hi Charlene, I am not up to speed re Leslie Dawson. Somewhere in my files I have reports on him but I havn't looked at them for several years. I think much the same happened with him as with many other RC priests, Thai monks, Tib lamas, Zen Roshis etc etc -- the moral/ethical turpitude is swept under the rug and everyone involved pretends it doesn't matter. But IMHO it does matter and

Hi Charlene, Leslie Dawson aka Anandabodhi aka Namgyal Rinpoche died a few years ago at a ripe old age. He was one of the early westerners to be ordained initially as a Theravadin monk. He was gay. In the mid 1950s he allegedly went to Kalimpong in the Indian Himalayas because he had heard that young Tibetan monks trained as passive sex partners were leaving their homeland and settling in India.

There is also a woman known as the Buddha of Brooklyn aka Catharine Burroughs who is another joke Tib lama. She hangs out in Maryland and I believe in Arizona as well. Phoney Tib lamas appear to be proliferating on both sides of the Atlantic.
