Stoic, So true, but even with those who have been abused in religion, you can find them using Buddha's words to keep from helping others, or so it seems. I think the teachings of karma are very negative when used in this way. My own ex-teacher said that he doesn't expose his teachers who harmed him because he doesn't know whether he would be doing it out of compassion or anger.

Maybe people can shed some light on this for me: Because I was upset over learning that my Tibetan teacher taught the tantras and lied to me about it, and then went on forums to try to get the truth, I found myself being harassed by posters and then being banned and having my posts deleted. I learn that I am the bad one here. Am I? It seems to me that some of the Tibetan posters began lying as my

I think it is very hard to learn about a teacher beforehand. I remember doing research into the organizations that I was to join, in Hinduism and Buddhism, and I was fooled due to the lies that teachers engage in and how the disciples tend to believe them, which makes it hard to find the truth. Better to have no teachers and just read books. What I have learned about the Dangers of Meditation

I went from Baptist to Jehovah's Witness, to Self Realization Fellowship, to the Vedanta Society, and then to Zen Buddhism which was so boring, but the lunches were good being that they were Vietnamese, and my DH and I moved to the Bible Belt, and I found a Tibetan Teacher in Texas who claimed there were no dangers in meditating, and I wanted to show him Dr. Singer's work, and he said,

I think a lot of people who become Buddhist still believe in a God but not in the Biblical God, and so Christian religions are not for them, at least that is why I gave Buddhism a try, but it didn't work for me either.

I have tried to warn others on forums too, just as Misstyk, but I am often met with hostility, and sometimes the posts are deleted. It amazes me how many teachers say it is safe, and then how many students will not listen. I remember when I was in Hinduism I thought, "We are meditating to experience God; then why is it that reaching God in meditation can be so dangerous. If there were a God,

Dangers of Meditation "One often hears and reads about the dangers of Yoga, particularly of the ill-reputed Kundalini Yoga. The deliberately induced psychotic state, which in certain unstable individuals might easily lead to a real psychosis, is a danger that needs to be taken very seriously indeed. These things really are dangerous and ought not to be meddled with in our typically Western

Your posts are always interesting Stoic as are Misstyk's. I guess it should be different with monks, nuns, lamas and other gurus because they are following the spiritual path, and one would like to believe that it would lead to saint-hood. Perhaps the only real saints are those who are out helping mankind without a Bible or the Gita in their hand, like Mother Teresa who took the dying of

P.S. My teacher lied to me about even practicing sexual tantras. But it is understandable that he and this other person I know would lie because this is what the Kalacakra says in the forbidden book that I own after getting it on Amazon. " "ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE RECEIVED THE KALACAKRA INITIATION ARE PERMITTED TO READ THIS MATERIAL" In this book he states: "If the secrets

Of this post above my last one, an ex NKT member wrote me: “That is libel. The person is twisting the truth. There is no such thing as advanced yoga tantra and receiving a highest yoga tantra empowerment does not lead to sex. GKG did sack a few people for sexual abuse however. The NKT Highest Yoga Tantra is pure Gelugpa as taught by HHDL. . Men and women are treated equally and out of tens of

Knowing that the New Jonang tradition, one that I was in, teaches tantric sex, and since I have read the Kalacakra Tantra I learned that they use children in Tibet, I wrote to this man who wrote this back. (First, I want to say that outside of the Kalacakra that I have read I have no proof that New Jonang is doing this, but I have my concerns, and the the letter he wrote is very good. Perry Bulw

QuotecorboyI decided to wait and see what would unfold on the message board. No one seems to have been willing to reply to Mr. Ross's inquiry--are you members of NKT and capable of discussing it--or allowing others to discuss NKT from a perspective outside itself. Some may chirp, 'This is a violation of right speech.' In my opinion, it is right speech to state 'there

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso??! He's the leader of NKT. His movement is all about sex! Men who join say that after just one year, they're already doing "advanced yoga tantra", sexual yoga. And the dharma center with dormitory attached had endless problems of the resident lamas preying on the resident women. Also a female teacher somehow manipulated one of the male students into an aff

What I learned when joining a new group is that they were always horrified at how badly I was treated in the last group, and then they told me to forget about them, and then each time i heard this from a new group, i was badly treated as were others. even as i wrote to the Chinmaya Mission I just got an email: "Forget about your past. Yes, one has to be careful in selecting a guru or teacher

Sad isn't it Vera. I am reading a book, "History of the Tantric Religion" by N.N. Bhattacharyya, a scholar. He said that the tantrics are in the Mahayana texts. I know of no Mahayana Buddhist group that uses them, although I read on a forum that some Zen Buddhists from Asia do. I wish some who had been students of the Dalai Lama would speak out one way or another. The Comme

I noticed when I was in the Vedanta Society and upset with the gurus there due to their verbal abuse, I was told to leave quietly. This idea of leaving quietly is so that you won't take anyone with you. This belief that my New Jonang teacher gave to me on keeping quiet because you may just be resentful and not really wanting to help others, which is bad karma, is also to keep you quiet when

I just ran into them on my internet search and thought to come here and am so glad that i did. i am not looking for another guru; had my fill, but i want to study the vedas on my own. any idea? i find that i cannot read material from any guru organization that i had left, which includes vedanta society and self realization, nor tm or muktana

Thanks for that article. When I first joined Tibetan Buddhism a year ago, I began emailing a Tibetan Buddhist from a forum I was on. He was getting ready to take the highest tantras and had a partner. I remember then thinking that this was not what Buddhism should be about, but I didn't know my own teacher taught it. I learned about Shugden from this guy and mentioned it to my teacher who sa

I used to admire the Dalai Lama, and then I joined Tibetan Buddhism. Next I found out that my teacher taught the Kalacakra Tantra, a sexual text. He was a student of the Dalai Lama, who also teaches the Kalacakra Tantra. Only when you hear about the Kalacakra Tantra empowerments that the Dalai Lama gives they are about peace, which is one aspect of the Tantra, but if you read the Tantra it is aga

Hi Coz, Yes, the Internet has changed things, and Mother Center, as SRF headquarters is called, is more than upset over SRFWalrus. They have not been able to penetrate it to find out who is in charge of it, and so the rumor is that their arc enemy, Ananda Church of Self-Realization, started it, when I really believe it was started by an ex-monk from SRF. But no one really knows. How does Mothe

HI, I am new to this board but a friend of Yellowbeards. I am really too tired to post much or read many of the posts, so I just scanned many this a.m. I am not new to cults. I was a Jehovah's Witness in my younger days, 5 years beginning at age 21. I didn't know any better. I became an atheist for the next 20 years and then found "The Autobiography of a Yogi." I questi
