Is anyone familiar with Churches Uniting in Christ? http://www.cuicinfo.org/ If so, please let me know. In particular I am wondering if they have any strange (unorthodox) beliefs.

QuotekathThink of famous cults- Heaven's Gate, Charles Manson. By a strong leader and other methods people can be convinced to believe anything. And the people- who are often children- in the JOS are particularly young too. Aside from famous cults, aren't all cults driven by "a strong leader"? Without one, I don't quite see how a cult could be formed.

Quoteabigail1977well Jane, I exited a charasmatic cult in august. If i had to suggest a place of worship for someone, I wouldnt recommend pentacostal/charasmatic. God is a healer, but they have too much emphasis on that. They also are heavy into tounges and prophecy and demons. If you find unbalanced preachers, they may over emphasize demonic activity too. If I was you, id be concerned. As far

Did anyone catch the latest news about "Jesus Christ Man"? Apparently he's claiming to be the Antichrist and is getting his followers to get 666 tatooes.

Judging from the all the posts above, it looks like most (if not all) complaints against this group are from Africa. If the overseas branches of this U.S.-based group function autonomously, then it seems to me that criticism of the branch(es) is more appropriate than criticizing the entire body (which apparently is what's stirring tensions in this thread). Just an observation/suggestion.

I've attended Grace's campus fellowship before, and they didn't come across to me as a cult. They're a bit lawful and literal (OT style), but they seemed okay to me. I'd be interested to hear about what others have to say. Maybe there was more than meets the eye?

I think the name (though possibly misleading) does not have to fully define the group. What I mean is, if they really wanted to go with a name that accurately described who they are, it would be something like "Those People Who were Formerly Jews but Now Believe in Jesus" (using extra long example to explain a point). I used to work for my high school newspaper (years and years ago),

Disturbing ... to say the least. Does anyone know when this guy made himself known to the public? Was it from the get-go? Or after he accumulated a certain number of members?

I just came across this article and Yahoo, and thought it'd be interesting to bring up: QuoteGuyanese health officials have criticized an American television evangelist for a series of advertisements they say suggest people can be cured of HIV/ AIDS by attending the preacher's services in this South American nation.

I was looking into the group through their website, and yeah ... it emanates a slightly eerie feeling. I came across the page talking about their history () and noticed mention of a book, The Secret of Forgiveness and Being Born Again, which they acknowledge receiving accusations for from "so-called Christians who themselves say they believe in Jesus Christ." Has anyone looked into th

The feeling I get when I first think of Muslim (in all honesty) is the same feeling I get when I think of the Dallas Cowboys (I'm a 49ers fan). Does that make any sense? If I thought about it a bit more, actually, if we go as far back to the time of Abraham, then Islam could possibly considered the first cult (emphasizing the word "could", and adding that this was stated wit

I've always considered Reinhard Bonnke to be a very controversial preacher who claims to perform miracle healings, but these days I've been seeing news about him with groups such as the Global Pastors Network. Is Bonnke legit? Or is he just a more popular version of Benny Hinn?

Hi. I have a question. Recently I read an article about the Church in China, and noticed that Christian Solidarity Worldwide (a U.K.-based human rights group) was backing the leader of The Three Grades of Servants - which, from what I read, is a well-known cult in China. Is CSW just misinformed, or does anyone know anything more about CSW's relationship with The Three Grades?

Well, I'm not sure about the whole "our pastor is Jesus" thing, but from my research, I found that they're an associate member of the World Evangelical Alliance (http://www.worldevangelicalalliance.com/members/associates.htm). And for those who are unfamiliar with the WEA, they're the largest network of evangelical bodies in the world. Are you sure you didn't mishe
