You know Dr. P ran a lifespring-based LGAT in Texas, right? He stepped down after he got his show but is still the "creative director" or something like that. I talked to I guy a couple years ago who almost killed himself during one of Pathways weekends.

Impact is a direct spinoff from Lifespring. This link: Gives a good breakdown of who spawned from who. I couldn't get it to come up for me this morning, but the Guestbook on the awareness page has contained an ongoing battle of sorts between Impact grads and Harmony grads (they split from each other a few years back). There are some really creepy stories flying back and forth bet

I have a friend who's 15 year old has been in a downward spiral for two years. When I spoke with her last week, she told me she had taken her daughter to a residential treatment facility in S.C. called Carolina Springs Academy. While on the phone with her I googled the place, and started seeing warning signs (use of LGAT language in the site, attendance of "seminars") Shortly I

Only we didn't kill anybody. Same LGAT too! Harmony has it's base in Salt Lake, but at one time had the "branch" in California, which later broke off and became seperate from the Salt Lake Harmony. The guy who got us involved was the "leader" in an online based investment group. The guise was, he would train people in each area of the country for a fee, then

Rick, Point taken in regards to the need for us not to use this board in ways that are better left to a mental health professional. I apologize for putting you in a position of risk in that regard. That being said, in my own experience, there are no mental health professionals in my area that even know about these things, much less are experienced in them. Our therapist a year ago was c

By contrast, Alexis, I think the point Socrates was trying to make is that the "worst" that we fear has already been done, and then some. Meaning, that it's already out there for someone who wants to find it, and not discussing it openly here isn't going to prevent that. It may however, help someone to recognize when these tricks are being deployed on them, so they can back

My reasons to support disclosure are these: People often don't remember, or don't understand what has transpired in the training room, and cannot connect new behaviours and beliefs back to the training. Even after one is back functioning in the real world there are still "hooks and levers" (to use Guy's phrase) implanted in your consciousness that affect your life eve

According to the Awareness Page: Personal Dynamics is a Lifespring spinoff. I would advise you to read the Lifespring descriptions on the web, and the "fictional" LGAT description on the awareness page to get a feel for it. Good luck with your friends.

Actually my understanding is that Dr. Phil is a Lifespring grad. He started this LGAT in Texas based on the Lifespring model. Although he now claims to be involved with Pathways only as a consultant, he was the seminar leader for a time. I'm sure he still gets paid too. I actually spoke with someone who attended Dr. Phil's LGAT. From what he said it was very close to th

My significant other went to the Harmony Institute last June. It was the most traumatic thing I have ever been through. I completely relate to the anguish you are experiencing. We know many people who have been completely sucked into it. If you haven't yet, go to the Awareness Page, and read the guest book all the way through. There is a battle of sorts that takes place the

I agree with GC, I could write a book all by myself. You can do a search for my posts, I've spoken quite a bit about what we went through as a family. I was able to salvage my relationship, and four months after attending an LGAT, my S/O woke up to what had happened to him and began warning others. I feel very confident that he would never go back. I've seen so many other live

Westlaw is the service that the attorneys use. Apparently it's a system they use to look up case law. If you can get someone to access that, it could be very helpful.

There is a wealth of information in the database of this site that should more than answer your very broad questions. I suggest you do the work yourself. You'll learn more that way.

I did not find the first article I mentioned, but in my local paper this week, an assistant pastor was quoted as saying that he intended to bring his FIVE YEAR OLD daughter to see the Passion, and that he felt comfortable recommending that children see the film. I personally feel that is horrifying, but I think I understand the point. Mel Gibson has said in interviews that the hands t

Liz, The cut off happens to everyone who leaves. As soon as one decides not to continue, they are no longer included in the group. All the phone calls and emails stop abruptly. It's designed to make the person feel what he's lost. Then later after some time has passed, one or two may call "just to check in" and hopefully lead them back into the fold. His daughter

I read something earlier today regarding people sending their children to see it. Can you imagine how traumatic an experience this would be for a child? Unbelievable.

Liz, I don't know of any support groups, but you might call around and try to find a therapist that is familiar with indoctronation. I've been in the situation of having a significant other involved with an LGAT. I too had a very traumatic response. I insisted that we begin seeing a therapist, and while he was not very well informed about the situation we were dealing with he

You are on the right track. click this link and scroll down to "other groups" and read the links on New Warriors Training, which is part of the Mankind project. it would help also to read the history of LGATS in general, est, Landmark, Lifespring, etc. to get the overall pattern of what they do to people. The focus on men of this group is similar to Sterling. The New War

rrmoderator: Consistent pattern noted. I give up. gc4062: When my loved one attended his weekend, there was a guy in the parking lot with a can asking for donations from the other particpants to pay for his courses. They were also selling mixed CD's to raise funds for course attendance. When one spouse of a particpant pointed out there might be royalty issues to consider in this ac

Jack, (Recreating this post because of an error message last night) "I don't think I'm glossing over stuff--my impression is that much (not all) of what you are concerned about is not there." It was there for me Jack. Bigger than life. I feel lucky that the end result for me was not tragic, however I've witnessed other people completely destroy their lives.

Contact Lexisnexis and have them do a search for you. It's not that expensive to search in their county, but the problem is that a lawsuit can be filed from anywhere. You may even be able to find something online yourself. More and more counties are putting files online. Do a search for the county clerk of courts office. Attorneys have a service to research case law, but the publi

You're right Jack, I'm not very impressed with your responses. You seem to do something very much like other LGAT participants I've witnessed: You gloss right over the stuff you don't want to see. You may call that "creating your own reality". I call it denial. It seems you choose not to take very seriously the manipulation and danger to others because &q

Jack, I had asked some questions of you earlier in the thread that you never responded to. I'd like to hear your thoughts on some things. Having read, I'm sure, the many stories of participants who have had adverse reactions to Landmark, have you witnessed anything similar in your experience? Have you seen people post Forum make decisions that have been seen as drastic, dangerou

Not to mention Oz, the psychological damage that is done to many people. There should at least be some accounting of how many people attempt suicide, have psychotic breaks, etc as a result of participation. There are laws to protect the public against harm from all sorts of things, a person can't sell insurance, be a hairdresser or PRACTICE PSYCHOLOGY without a license. You cannot le
