he is appointing tuklus now himself. he has done 180 turn and is mad that followers aren't comming along, at least western followers. however he has major following now in asia and major donors so he probably doesn't care. here's a zinger when i was at the last lyn event in mexico with 700 people he was giving out peyote buttons. that turned me off right there. i said "th

having been at his teachings for seven years and part of an inner practice group, i now think he realized he couldn't get his movies made or live like a king unless he took up his lineage. he was before that saying he wouldn't teach the lineage, then that he didn't believe in tulkus, then he supported critical thinking, but he has now abandoned all that. moreover one of his senior

the pali cannon does name three boddhisattvas, so the idea of boddhisattvas isn't just mahayanna. they were tara chenrezig and i forget the third, maybe manjushri. however the whole idea of buddha nature is hard to find in the pali cannon. there are afew phrases that are tortured to support the idea. once you have the oidea of boddhisattvas then there is no bar to more. moreover once you

lama zopa is well over the hill, hwoever when i met him about ten years ago, although be certainly rambled, he did give a good teaching if you had the patience to sit through. the major one i went to went at least ten hours overtime the last day. now i would go to his students. they do teach ethical behavior and have renunciate leadership.

this is sadly true of the big church vajrayanna groups. i know a few less wealth oriented groups that do actually criticizes abuses within vajrayanna, and do teach well. however vajrayanna was abolished in japan and a few other countries for their abuses.

i still have faith and good knowledge with the sakyas under jetsun kushock. she has a small following but that's a good sign. she teaches a full esoteric practice of several deities that include the full path. i also had good experiences with kusam linpa. he gave very good instructions in a full dzogchen practice and didn't care about a lot of centers or the money.(he refused steven s

ps, he raves about how excited and endless the trungpa students talk about their teacher. me thinks the lady doth protest too much. they are aware that they committed to a degenerate teacher, they just haven't the courage to leave. few middle class anglos have any personal courage. they raw their confidence from their group. read about the awfull behavior of these scions of priveledge in

i want to comment on a few other things in this missive. he suggests that vajrayanna teacher shave a samaya committment as well and if they breach it they suffer deep vajra hells. yikes, i think buddha forgot to mention vajra hells, but more importantly he says giving vajrayanna initiation without the full explaination is a breach of samaya by the teacher. well he did bot untill this letter give

these attacks on liberal intellectuals are a repeated theme from him now. seven or eight years ago he was teaching that dharma can have critical thinking and educated discussion. now he's saying protrump things and scorning liberals. he is being influenced by some far right wingers. probably the trungpa people who believed trungpas idea that we need a dharma dictator. the regular attack on

the autistic brother is from diana and trungpa i think. dkr's recent book had a lot of things that are disillusioning. a list of what teachers should do--which his violate, and a list of what they shouldn't do, and trungpa violates them all and some of his teachers violate . and open support for sogyal and trungpa, and stupid thoughts about how amazing it was that educated americans w

i have read the book now. it is very good. her description of the cult behavior of the trungpa students was a perfect match to what i experienced in the dzongsar khyentse group, which is full of trungpa students. they are stuck in a delusion of enlightenment while acting without compassion, equanimity or basic manners. super cool people. and if you ask any hard questions they use ridicule and

absolutely wrong. when significant damages are given in a settlemnet as in the rigpa case then there has been an admission of culpability. it is childish to maintain that anyone pays damages when they are not culapible. most groups have insurance, their insurers would breach them for paying damages for things they were not culpible of. these arguments are tiresome and show real ignorance of th

kelsang gyatso did a lot more. he gives vows to monks and nuns without the necessary authority. for those who don't know to give these vows you need five monks or nuns. most take the vows from one person, with a promise to take the full ordination at a future time, but they are in schools that have more than the required five so the authority is there. kelsang gyatso started on his own afte

as a one time lawyer, pleadings are broad and trials narrow. you sue every possible defendant and narrow down to the central ones with deep pockets at trial. so i confirm it is a disingenuous quibble, or a dishonest quibble, to claim it matters that several other were sued. furthermore, people don't pay out substantial damages unless they are culpable. their insurers would breach them imme

good question,it's a long time ago, i may be confusing the washington university translators, one of whom i knew well with another translation group. now that you mention it. i'll have to ask a friend who might know to be sure. the translator i knew was leon hurvitz who unfortunately died over ten years ago--maybe twenty years now. (i'm getting old) he worked with denchen rinpoch

i gave the quote that "ethics are the highest dharma", but this was from dudjom rinpoche and he spent quite some time at a university in washington state and worked with phd translators, hence he may have been introduced to the idea in north america. the madamaika tradition does have philosphical discussion that is about ethics but it doesn't get much attention from tibetan bu
