Thanks Cultleak for the updated links and for the new information about why the channels got closed. Interesting information. Gotta say that story about the guy who sold his wife is so weird, and the tale just seemed to just get stranger the second time I saw her tell it... And she's always laughing and saying it's so good.

Otto Wagner: From everything I've read, there's nothing that the Dalai Lama has to do, really to have spiritual integrity; he was born with it. It's just his birthright. I could be wrong, as I'm no expert. But I've also heard him say at the core, he's a "simple Buddhist monk" (I guess he's a "simple Buddhist monk" life after life?)

Professionals in the field of cultic studies have also expressed concerns regarding Steven Hassan's use of hypnosis and Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Are there many other "professionals" besides Steven Hassan and Rick Ross? Just wondering...

I saw the link to "libertyforcaptives.com" in this thread and liked some of the articles I read there. I especially liked this list of ways to tell the difference between gossip and criticism: 8 Ways to Tell the Difference between Gossip and Criticism 1.) Motive Toward the Other Gossip’s motive is destructive and malicious: it wants to bring down another person in order to d

Cathleen Mann, PhD wrote: "The best way to determine a difference is to look at practices, not beliefs." or as another famous person wrote: "You can know them by their fruits." No matter what "faith" you believe, what "spiritual process," "religion," etc., the most important thing is the results. Observe: What kind of people are in

Thanks Yelenejbean Quoting Misstyk: "In Tibet, raping seemingly random women on the spot in public was a perfectly normal thing for monks to do. So after that, the professor had to explain to all the monks that customs and laws were very different in their new home, and that they would have to curtail some of their activities. This also included taking food and other items from stores

I've watched this lady's program in passing, I think it was when I was channel surfing for something to watch on TV. She seems to think she's God or something, yeah? That's the impression that I got, or if not THE god, maybe a god? She also kept saying things that didn't really go anywhere, kind of like when you read one of those horoscopes and they say a lot of no

RRmoderator: I'm sorry if it sounded like I was "victim bashing." That was not my intent. Most predators prey by telling us what we want to hear, and we want to believe them, to trust them. But they are just lying. Listen to your heart, listen to your gut. If it's too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twic

yes, an interesting read indeed! I have never even considered that there might be "danger" in meditation. I mean consider the monks who spend endless days and years practicing this with nary a word...

There are so many conflicting stories about Tibet and the conflict between China and the Dalai Lama. I never know who to believe! I was speaking to some friends who had recently visited, who were very upset by the fact that Tibet has changed so much since their last visit back in the 70s. I guess the people and their culture and way of life was really disrupted by the invasion of the Chinese.

Wow, this all just makes me remember reading "5,000 Leagues under the sea." I appreciate all the time and effort you've put into this research and it looks compelling, but wow, seems like you could've found a cure for some disease or something! Is this really the best use of your time? Just asking :) On another note, I was reading about the lava part, and it's

This reminds me of a famous saying, I think P.T. Barnum said it, "There's a sucker born every minute." But perhaps it also could be said that a person's state of mind could contribute to how easily fooled they are, or are not. Just as some people are more prone to hypnosis, or addictions, etc., I would venture to say that some people are more prone to being followers,

Also, just generally, I'd have to say I agree with MissyK, that maybe it's a chain letter thing. But actually, it's more reminiscent of phishing. You know, where they basically just send a standard letter out to people and see who bites. It's becoming more and more common. Although, admittedly this is the first one I've seen with this slant-- has anyone else had exper

Hi Broadman, I just was reading more here and saw what you were saying about "Higher Balance Institute" Guru Eric Pepin. Have you heard more about him? He sounds like an interesting fellow, albeit expensive to follow, lol. I was wondering if you had any more things to share, or if you had any more experiences with this group. Thanks!

Hi Darlak, My advice: Don't just hear what you want to hear, listen carefully. I'm always amazed how things that are so seemingly harmless can actually be the most harmful of all. People who think they're trying to "help" scare me more than the people who straight up let you know they aren't. There's always a grain or kernel of truth in most people&#
