Another rock star, this time Oasis's Liam Gallagher. Reference here: QuoteMeaningless noise emanating from Liam Gallagher’s mouth? Who ever would have thought it! The former Oasis frontman has been attending Korean ‘Qi energy’ chanting classes at the Jung Shim centre in Marylebone, London. The 40-minute sessions involve ‘repeating vibrational sounds that have no translatable meaning

Interesting little piece of news^ 85 S. Koreans denied entry to US due to travel document complications The first article identifies the Korea-based group as Suwanee Meditation, but a Korean-based group is hardly going to name itself after a US town. Recent Reddit post ties Suwanee Meditation to Maum:

Footage of the leader arriving at LAX back in April. Miniature version of their larger events in Seoul: hired goons and members tasked with intimidating members of the public who happen to come across them. And enormous sums of money spent. I am surprised to see so many members in America. I don't know whether they flew members in from Korea, or they could have larger numbers in the US than

Thanks for exploring those articles. In Korea, this is the most visible cult and the one most often in the news. When I mention my interest in cults to Koreans, this is usually the group they respond with. The group's mass events held in September around the leader's birthday are similiar to North Korea's Arirang Games. Members spend months practicing their dances and card perfo

There have been a few artcles published over the past couple of years. Rick was interviewed for the most recent: July 11, 2017: This apocalyptic Korean Christian group goes by different names. Critics say it's just a cult. April 5, 2017: Churches on alert of "dangerous cult" Shincheonji on takeover mission April 4, 2017: Shincheonji members helped believer "escape

I recently came across this reference to the base of the this group, a place called Daerachun which north east of Seoul. Growing up in Australia in the 70s and 80s, I remember well the music of the rock band Dragon and knew the name Marc Hunter. Unfortunatley, he died of throat cancer at the age of 44. His quest for a cure led him to Daerachun in 1998, the year before the arrest of the founde

I just came across this strangely titled book by the leader. The reviews all point to something very cultic. I'll buy it and post excerpts here.

I've been going a little overboard collecting Going Clear-related links on my site plus a few initial reflections on the book which I read earlier this year. Approaching 150 links that date from Lawrence Wright's original 2011 New Yorker article to a few minutes ago^. I really don't see how Cruise can ever promote a film again...

Lida, if it will help, I can put you in contact with some former members. Let me know and if you want I can send contacts via personal messages here. I live in Korea and have been trying to keep tabs on this group here: And if you weren't aware, a multi-part expose will start airing in Korea tomorrow night (March 16). Here's a trailer:

Responses from Suzuki fans have been numerous - I don't think I have come across a more lively debate about an article, and I don't think I have ever seen more 'attack the messenger" comments. Here are a couple of links to posts and articles defending Suzuki and disparaging Mark O'Connor: (contains a collection of links) One such response is by one of Australia'

There has been enormous debate in the music community (and in particular the violin community) this past week following the publication of the following article which was picked up by quite a few news services including The Sydney Morning Herald and the the UK's Daily Telegraph: Suzuki method founder who lied about education: 'biggest fraud in musical history' As an amatuer

And there was indeed some escalation. Here's a brief run down of the last few days: Thursday, there were scuffles outside the 64 Building (Seoul's tallest) where the day's events were taking place - it was a 3-day event. SCJ thugs were thuggish TO young attendees. 10 thugs shoved me in front of other attendees who looked on in horror just minutes after telling me that, yes, as a

Crazy scenes earlier outside Seoul Olympic Stadium after day 1 of the cult's "peace summit". I've been awake too long to post more, but for now, an interview with a female protester who was assaulted by a male member of Lee's cult: I know predictions are always dangerous, but really think the location of Thursday's summit - Seoul's 63 Building will ma

Things are heating up here in Korea as thousands of duped guests and VVIPs are flying into Korea for what is certainly the biggest cult event I've ever heard of south of the border. I visited the cult's HQ yesterday where parents of members where protesting. I interviewed one father who spoke English... and then the shouting, pushing, and shoving started: And the cult has

Shonchonji is the most visible cult in Korea these days. They often hold large rally-style events populated by attendants mostly oblivious to the group's true nature having been invited through the plethora of ever-changing front organisations. In 2012, Shinchonji embarked on a 6-month long love bombing campaign directed exclusively at non-Koreans living in Korea. Practically overnight, a

It's great to see all the lost material in this thread restored. Thank you Rick and co. Just a little update. The cult's London branch has, according to them at least, moved to 43-45 Dorset Street. Entirely appropriate as several women were murdered on Dorset Street in the early 1900s.

Unfortunately, the original thread about this group was one of those affected by the loss of data that occurred when the site changed domains. The original thread was 18 pages long, but it stands now at 3. Luckily, I think between myself, cultkiller and another poster I think we have most of the important information saved elsewhere, and hopefully we can get that information on here soon. The

Little update. The first three pages made it to this new site: So we have pages 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9 of the original 18-page thread. I'll add pages 7-9 to that thread over the weekend It isn't a huge loss as there is still plenty of info and links to ward off all but the most indoctrinated, but there were some interesting (and disturbing) personal testimonies as well as some hilar

I wonder if anyone can help me save this thread: I think it went to about 18 pages with a flurry of posts earlier this year. I found and copied pages 1, 7, 8, and 9 from the web archive, but no luck with the rest. I haven't checked Google cache yet. Got to run now and have a crazy few days ahead. I only just noticed that that thread was lost. There have only really been a few of us shar
