Hey Corboy, As I understood it, the Astral is this sort of "place" that is actually inside you, and all your demons live there. It's where you go when you dream. It's very hard for a beginner to navigate because you have to learn to "see through" your dreams: the complexes/demons/egos (whatever you call them) which have a pretty large amount of control over you

Oh wow, great to see the data back! I'd put a lot of effort into this thread. Thought I'd check in to see how all my buddies in the astral realm are doing?

QuoteSorsEV, just interested in this comment. What was it specifically about this guy that made him seem haunted? Also do you recall his nationality? Probably the best way I can explain it is to say he was totally bought into SAW's philosophy, including all the pessimistic elements, that everybody's going to hell for millions of years unless they devote their lives to dissolving the e

>If you've found anything in the teachings of SAW, or have listened to the gnosticteachings site and found something good and worthwhile... just chalk it up to something you can add to your toolbox. Something you can work with to make yourself a better person, and if you can walk away a better individual... that's what it's all about. And that's the right attitude to any

QuoteEverVigilantPeople who buy into it often start any needs of theirs as "egos" which must be destroyed. Too late for another edit: this should read "often start seeing any needs".

Corboy, No, SAW's thing was really more of a philosophy than a standard manipulative cult. People are attracted to it because through the course of life they realize they don't like the direction they're going and have the intuition that they must change somehow. Then they read (or listen to) SAW and hear the same thing, and they feel they've finally found something whi

Quotejustaman22Huh? Ejaculation is the worst thing ever? I mean, c'mon. I never stated it like that, you largely took my words out of context. Your words? I was talking about SAW's philosophy. Have you read his books, or only listened to the podcasts? Quotejustaman22Don't you think it's funny that tv is pushing sex BIG TIME and pornography is only 3 mouse clicks away

And that's why I emphasized pain. The desire to sit and be blissful comes to somebody whose life is characterized by internal suffering. It's not quite so sick if the person can withdraw the projections. That is, if the person can admit, "I'm a neurotic wreck and all I want right now is to calm those waters, but I recognize that this doesn't apply to everybody."

justaman22, I'm going to throw in my $1.05 on this. The first thing I want to say is that the posts I made in this thread were sincere. If you look at them honestly, you will see the wrestling I was doing with this philosophy, comparing its good points with its questionable points. The question is, are you capable of looking at it that way? SAW trains you to see the bad in people.

I didn't ask her if she reported it but that seems like something that can't hurt. Quoteghostwriter1984It would be prudent to suggest to your friend to seek counseling (if she hasn't done so already). Pardon me if I'm overstepping here, but I'm thinking if she was "okay" telling you about the incident she might be receptive to discussion about finding a good

I wanted to post this here because I heard something yesterday that made me so angry, and I don't know whom else to talk to about this. I want to get it off my chest. I was talking with a lady friend of mine, and she was telling me about her past, including one incident when she was drugged and raped. At first I didn't ask anything about this because I didn't want to pry. But

Quotepetrus4I'm a narcissist myself; I know what the craving for narcissistic supply feels like. If I didn't care about hurting people, I'd probably be tempted to become someone like Tolle or some of the others myself. Then again, however, perhaps I wouldn't; because I like to at least hope that I've already seen, that money and external success are not the real cure fo

I love the projection thing. I want to tell the guy "Your thinking I'm projecting is just a projection of your own tendency to project." Is projection really anything more than the fact that we kind of figure other people are like ourselves until we know better? So a reaction of shock and disgust to the behavior of somebody you looked up to is in fact a *shattering* of project

I've never read Tolle but have read quotes and accolades from followers. I always found him a bit fishy because of the sycophantic accolades. And as superficial as this sounds, the eyes freak me out. In anything I look into spiritually, I've come to ask myself "Is this making me a better person?" Then, of course, I need a definition of "A better person". Wha

It's been almost a year, and I thought I'd check back in here. Life's been a wild ride, some ups and some downs, but I barely ever think about SAW anymore. My prayers are focused on learning the art of love, an ability that has been missing my whole life. And they are being answered slowly, in bits and pieces. Typically the lessons have involved enduring a humiliating experie

Agreed, Stoic. Thanks again Lone Flame. I'll be honest, I am slightly uneasy because I think there are people who could figure out my identity from what I have said in this forum. But I wasn't in very long, and only met these people once, and they're all about 1000 miles away, so I suspect I'll be left alone. I'd be happy to be merely pitied; I hope that's thei

Thanks corboy. The date went wonderfully :-). I bared my soul to her, discussing all the neurotic social anxiety coming up in our conversation, and how certain things she mentioned about her life and her past made me feel, and it often wasn't good (actually much of this was prior to meeting in person). I even mentioned Samael. I figured I'd rather scare a girl away then start yet

Lone_Flame_of_Eternity I'm glad you wrote this. I got into Samael after a religious experience this past December, and am still waffling back and forth on it. At rock bottom the way I was, Revolutionary Psychology made perfect sense. To a neurotic like me, it's pretty easy to recognize that there are a bunch of often contradictory emotional forces operating within you. Much o
