There's also a kind of numb feeling in the brain which I guess was induced by the thought-stopping practices. I know you can't actually "stop" thoughts but I guess you can build up a mental wall to extremely suppress them. how do you bring down the wall?

I was recently reading Thought Reform: and the psychology of totalism in China along with Steve Hasaans book on recovery from cults. There are a lot of commercial gurus out now that focus on undermining the "self" and the persons mind. Once they do that I guess it's pretty easy for them to push whatever the hell the want into their minds. One thing I'm interested in is "t

"It is almost like a mild high and you are free from pain and suffering for that period, right? But like getting high, it usually is not a healthy pursuit on a continuous basis or to any extent that cuts you off from life. " This is exactly what it is like. I have been dealing with depression for most of my life. After experiencing depersonalization from smoking marijuana I thoug

What do you think about ET's idea of stopping thoughts? If I was able to stop my thoughts and become a blank emotionless slate, I should be able to start them up again right? He talked about having the incessant brain chatter that is constantly going on and stopping it. Isn't this what grounds us and helps us relate to other people? Without this we are just zombies roaming around wi

I just purchased The Guru Papers by Joel Kramer and Diana Alstad. This book has really confirmed my belief that ET has manipulated everyone so he could attain power and money. "A guru, to be a guru, must know how to move people into a psychological state of surrender and keep them there." "Once an initial commitment has been made, techniques geared at disorientation come into play.

I really hope I don't relapse into what I've been going through. The disconnection from myself, my family, my friends and my mind has been so extreme that I honestly don't know if I could go through it again. I was in a constant state of disorientation, loneliness and social isolation for a whole year. All I would think about is "there is no time" "you are just being

Honestly...if it weren't for you guys I would still be listening to Eckhart and reading his book wasting my life away. Thank you for all the great advice on how to rid this guy from my mind and all his ideas. I thank god there are people like you all who see through these types of people and are bringing awareness to the public. Not only that, but also your helping other people escape from t

Does anyone know of any recovery plans/ideas for someone who brainwashed themselves with this stuff. Is it just a matter of time for someone to snap back into their old selves and for their mind to fully function again? I'm not trying to make this a self-help topic for myself because that's not what this forum is about. I'm just wondering if anyone has gone through a similar event

I'm sorry for cursing so much but I'm just so enraged by all of this. I was so naive and easily manipulated into his scam which (temporarily I hope) drained me of my social identity, personality, goals/dreams and thoughts. I wish there was more media coverage of how much of a scam this is. I watched an interview of his where he was asked "do you ever feel sad or angry?" he rep

I am glad that I have been "awakened" to all of this information. If this guy really has no ego and has no needs or desires then why doesn't he give his sacred information out for free? Or why doesn't he give the millions he made to charity? How the FUCK did I or anyone else buy into this stuff? He just seemed so honest and innocuous. I would actually watch this guys videos fo

That is effing spot on! i felt exactly like this after reading his book. It's like all those memories you have as a child don't feel so distant anymore. I felt like i was 7 years old which at first was very appealing. I guess we all in some way want to retreat back to our childhood. That's what makes childhood nostalgia so bitter-sweet. But that is not the way life is. It's no

I was going through a rough patch in my life when I picked up the almighty Power of Now. I was so overwhelmed with joy and deep connection with this book that I became obsessed with it. I read it every day after school, watched his videos on youtube. I would even carry the thing around with me like a bible or something. Thinking about it now literally sends chills up my back. I completely stopped
