A couple took their kid for a vaccine, and the child became autistic shortly thereafter. To them it seems like ironclad proof of cause and effect. But it could have been a coincidence. We should have compassion for them, but they belong in some kind of support group rather than on national tv insisting that what happened to their child WILL happen to others who receive vaccines. Very Sad. Opr

It doesn't matter if Byron Katie tells a survivor of incest that she complied with the act; or someone who was tortured in Iraq that he sought out the experience; or that someone who is paralyzed as a result of being hit by a drunk driver that they were at fault for being outside at the same time as the drunk. The point of the technique is to take the most emotionally charged material, wh

If you consider the way the government lies to us about the reasons for going to war, and the way the press refuses to investigate and ask questions, we seem to have as much information as flowers in a vase, about what's really going on. And as much power to change things too, opposing the will of the war criminals. That being true, why obsess about it? Why not show 'the wisdom to k

I was talking about those situations where you cannot file a lawsuit or press criminal charges because so much time has passed. And the perpetrators cannot hurt anyone anymore, being dead. But we continue to retraumatize ourselves by reliving the experience judgmentally. BKs inquiry method provides a way to simply feel differently about the past that still haunts us long after the events and

Quotefree@last Healing from trauma involves much more than lawsuits, police reports and revenge. In fact many, if not most trauma survivors can't or don't sue for a multitude of reasons. There are many ways to address and heal from trauma. I suggest you seek help from licensed therapists. Denial is not an effective healing method and blaming yourself, as BK encourages, is dangerous

The AA teachings about the nature of alcoholism are wrong. They've been proven wrong again and again by scientific studies. AA expects you to believe that a person you just met, your 'sponsor' has been sober for many years, and knows better than you what you should think, feel, and do. AA allows no changes to it's literature and program. They are frozen for all time, unc

A diagnosis such as Borderline, or Bipolar is a way of grouping different symptoms. Many of the same symptoms appear in different disorders; it's the exact set that a person has that is supposed to determine how they are diagnosed. For example, a lot of people with PTSD feel totally paralyzed at times, completely incapable of going out and doing things, from anxiety. This looks like dep

HopefulSoul? If you study a bit more you will find that PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder and being Bipolar can be related, and share some symptoms. An article in the NY Times revealed that most of the Iraq War veterans with the worst PTSD also reported the kind of troubled childhoods typical of BPD. In other words they were a bit unstable before enlisting, and that made them more susce

Wayne Dyer was on PBS again for fundraising, this past weekend (5/30-6/1, 2009). It's obvious from the way he describes his kids that he doesn't practice anything that he preaches about childrearing. And the way he inadventantly contradicts himself in his presentations shows that he really doesn't practice any of what he preaches. He is a good preacher though. Makes me fe

I'm really disturbed by what I've read about the intensives run by BKI. I recognized descriptions of many of the techniques from other LGATs. I've only participated in one before (Let Go and Live); but I attended the 'infomational sessions' on several others that were intended to sign people up, and chose not to participate. Having said that, I found Katie's te
