I had a woo moment yesterday. I went to the Lloyd Center mall here in Portland, and I hadn't walked far when a kiosk vendors walked up to me all smiley and asked, "Are you Christmas shopping today?" I snarled and moved on. Two hundred feet further down the very quiet mall, there was a Hubby giving a FREE stress test. I blurted out, "Cult Watch!! Watch Out!" And I poi

QuoteWalkYourOwnPath He is a student of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, and through Siddha Yoga has, I believe, studied some of the ancient sanskrit texts on yoga and spirituality. His own personal story of triumph is amazing- he was a cripple as a child and was told he would never walk. His mother refused to accept the doctor's diagnosis and eventually found him a yoga teacher who helped him not

QuoteMarta Szabo: Chapter Twenty Five ~ ONE SMALL TASK Author’s note: Yesterday, the morning of Monday, July 30, my phone rang. I looked at the little screen that usually tells me who’s calling. I saw only the word “Private.” I had noticed over the weekend that while I was out my Caller ID had recorded that someone with this same “Private” reading had tried to call me several times but ha

QuoteHopeJon Stewart of The Daily Show, on Comedy Central, would be great, too. Yes that would be great too! There are so many people in cults, and whose lives have been touched by them, but still we NEVER see anything on the 60minutes type shows. DateLine has made a whole comeback for NBC with their repetitious show on pedophiles. We all know that Scientologists have made numerous wacky pub

QuoteFishbulbExcellent idea! I don't watch much TV but I would definitely make a point of watching the "Rick Ross Hour". Really, something like that is needed these days. Desperately. I can see it in my mind's eye... The opening scene is a twenty-two year guy, who has just graduated from the local state college, but is still looking for a "good job." He is gett

QuotekurukullaI would like to clarify my experience with Christopher as I believe it is very similar to the experiences that numerous other women had with him. What he did was ask me to perform massage treatments on him as part of my training. He would, as a matter of course, receive the treatments naked. He built up my trust over a long period of time, which I believe is known as grooming, and

I'm a crime buff, and I skipped through half a dozen cults in the 60's, 70's and 80's. I watch the crime tv shows and Nancy Grace wierdnesses, and know in my heart that a Rick Ross TV Hour would truly grab the world's attention. Islamists are cults. And how and why people are drawn into cults, and give away power (even their lives) because a cult leader wants them

Quotebarbara: It is curious that so many people have lashed out against the "indigo" children" as a result of this theory and recommend hitting them. Why is the anger directed against the children rather than the adults? Is it possible that thoose who lash out at these children were themselves slapped and hit as children? www.psychohistory.com www.nospank.com

Can YOU prove the existence of "indigo children"? You seem to accept their existence, but in the same vein, can you prove the existence of white bread?

QuoteGulab Jamon: Indigo Children" and their ilk are spoiled children who have never even had an adult tell them the word "no". Prove it! You are talking about yourself, your belief about corporal punishment. You also expose us to YOUR notion that "children NEED punishment (you might say "discipline"), in order to be decent respectful citizens. That's

I've been amazed at how CNN achors have treated Tom Cruise and his scientology rants as somehow normal... his girl friend managed by OT's, and his opinions about psychiatry as normal. I think it's a perfect time for the whole house of cards to tumble.

Guru Mai must be extremely wealthy now. The seminars were a couple of hundred dollars in the 80s. Everything was first class, the books, tapes, beads, rings.

In the sixties I wandered through many cults. Scientology, Gurdjieff, Arica, later EST. I did the est training just to make a girl happy though, but the one that fascinated me the most was Sidda Yoga. It was the mid 80s and my marriage was going to Hell, and my wife and I did counseling with psychologist. Well mine was into meditation, and from there she got me into her books... sidda yoga.

Damn sorry that this website gets so few comments. But I ALWAYS say, when the argument goes that way, that Osama's group IS a cult. He is the "charasmatic leader." He offers self esteem... exalted self esteem to his members. The War Against Terrorism is mis named and is ill defined and mismanaged because our leaders and the people in charge of the war just dont get it. The w

So, I'm a the Springfield Mall in Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C., and right there outside the Target, was a little coven of scientologists offering to give the anxious shoppers a free "Stress Test." I can't help myself, and I open up to strangers standing near me, "Hey, that's the scientology cult." After a few laughs, one of the young guys goes d

Why do people join cults? What do the believers get out of it? As a young man, I came of age in 1960, and spent the next ten years in college. A hippie, dodging the draft, and wandering through various cults. I studied English, philosophy and art. I was a seeker of the truth. I was at Millbrook with Timothy Leary. I was with a Gurdjieff cult. Arica. Scientology. My mother was a Christ
