Anticult's description is not far off, I'm sure. I came across her on YouTube clips of the Montell Williams show. Her callous attitude toward the guests and sloppiness in the cold readings are both apalling and obvious. She's discovered a money maker and has been exploiting it for all its worth.

helpme2times, you're welcome : ) Blaming the victim, and the resulting self-blame that then traps the person in toxic guilt and inaction, is a easy way keep change from happening. The emperor doesn't like it when the kid comes out to say he has no clothes. "Exploit threat? Yeesh. Now that's ironic. Thanks for the tip. Quoting from Anticult's last thread (still

My impression from the people who post here and other people I've talked with about these experiences is not that they feel "helpless"--they feel ANGRY. Or betrayed. Or feel a sense of loss or emotional devastation, due to the bait and switch as described by the moderator. They also have to struggle with rebuilding their lives on top of managing those emotions. Anticult, thanks for doing this archival work on BK's past publications. Whenever someone blames the victims of genocide and war, that lack of compassion upsets me. What you've quoted here makes me feel ill. It's not just a red flag-- it's a big, honkin' neon red banner. What I've noticed about the New Age/New Thought movements is that many of its advocates c

Word to your post, corboy. You just described parts of my previous family and working life, too. I had a family member like your mother. And I've worked in the nonprofit field and have witnessed the bosses project who project the happy, "True Believer in the Cause" persona to wealthy donors at fundraisers and then turn around and treat the employees who do the ACTUAL WORK on a proj

Anticult, Thanks for posting the thread where I can vent about Tolle. I'm in the process of writing out my experience so I can reflect on it and learn from it. When and if I feel ready to share, I will post. This reflection process is crucial to recovery but also a little painful!

I'm new to the forums. Maybe I'll post my story later on, but I liked the topic in this thread and wanted to add to it. I wasn't involved in a cult but instead was on a six month personal development/Law of Attraction/Eckhart Tolle high that inevitably led me to crash and burn. I'm now just recovering from the awful depression that resulted and have come away with an intens
