Quoterrmoderator Recently, a member came back to a Mankind Project thread and deleted many posts that had been up for more than a year. This really changed the flow of that thread, as you can imagine. For sure  What some boards have is a time limit on editing posts, so people can edit for a few hours after they post. Do you have the site backed up, then one of the mods could restore w

Quotecultreporterhell I didn't even realise this then how about I go visit Uncle Randi and prove to him that I can make myself sick with the power of my mind? That's a pretty impressive feat. I don't think that he would deny that. No I don't think you are consciously magicing/making yourself ill- illness is a terrible thing and I'm not denying your diagnosis or anythi

But that means I will say more things wrong lol

Quotecultreporter I would have been most interested in your opinions on what I had to write about magnesium as being both a supplement and a prescription medicine. Do you supposse that the fact that I buy it from a health food store with Nature's Own rather than Alpha-Pharm stamped on the bottle that it must be less effective and/or dangerous? It's proven beneficial for some uses (whi

Quotecultreporter A recent Australian study shows that 1 in 10 patients presenting to a general practitioner had an adverse pharmaceutical drug event in the preceding six months with 50% of those being in the moderate to severe range and 8% requiring hospitalisation. Yes I've had one myself and it does make you think. But such are the unfortuate risks with medicines that actually do som

Quotedrivingthecar Marijuana is an herb. It's natural. You can grow it yourself and smoke it and then tell me that as a natural herb it does absolutely "nothing" for you. That's a narcotic drug though. No-one would argue deadly nightshade or other toxins do nothing :D But this is not the type of herb we are talking about, which you can buy legally at health food shops.

QuoteThe Anticult All you have to do is PROVE ANY "paranormal" ability, and I will help you win the Million Dollar Challenge, and make you world famous. If anyone can outline what they think is a real "paranormal" ability, I will help you set up the tests, in your city. Its that easy. Strangely 'professional' psychics who say they will prove their claims often va

QuoteAcid Reindeer today I contemplated putting together a website that examined all of Randi's entries in that work of his, as far as the subject matter that I have more than glancing knowledge, and examining all of the half-truths and oversimplifications found there. I have other things to do. Hi the whole text of the encyclopedia is here:- Randi writes - 'As with all of my

QuoteAcid ReindeerRandi does not have a good track record as far as his nonfiction writing. I had a look over the same work that the ISKCON entry comes from and checked out his entry on Crowley. as I expected it shows a superficial understanding of Crowley seemingly derived from secondary sources. he seems to have about as thorough an understanding of Crowley as I did at the age of 15. The t

Quotedrivingthecar For those of you who laugh off a "Big Pharma" conspiracy, I would say you are naive. Big Pharma makes billions of dollars convincing people they need to stay on a specific drug for the rest of their lives. They are more interested, profit-wise, in a drug that is used as "maintenance" than a drug that cures. Do the math. Erm, the multi-million dollar

Quotedrivingthecar There are allegations that the "Quackbusters" are really part of a conspiracy by certain people in the medical profession to discredit their competition in the alternative health fields. Big Pharma conspiracy- classic :D Obviously I only know what Barrett etc think inasmuch as I have read their websites, and use logic myself. All of us have only limited time.

Quotedrivingthecar Stephen Barrett, on the other hand, actively goes out and tries to destroy individual lives by filing lawsuits and having alternative healthcare practitioners arrested. How he would see it is he is exposing frauds and charlatans. Stopping people being taken in financially or even killed by these therapies if they were to follow them and refuse conventional medical treatm

QuoteAcid Reindeer Randi appears not to have actually read the Bhagavad-Gita But not every human being needs to you know. :) Why would he? No-one has limitless time on their hands and Randi's not religious or a mystic so why would he 'waste his time' reading a religion's holy book? Also there's more specific beliefs and literature of the hare krishnas, rather than

Your criticisms are aimed at things Randi has said or done on a professional level. That someone is 'wrong' in your opinion doesn't make them destructive. Destructive gurus' destructiveness isn't judged by that. These are some things a real destructive guru may do- Coerce people in an emotional and personal way, involved with peoples' relationships and such.

Quotecultreporter There are currently thousands of qualified chiropractors practicing throughout the world and no evidence to sugguest that the profession is subject to any more litigation or claims of malpractice than any other field of medicine or alternative medicine. There's also no strong evidence to suggest chiropractic does anything at all- on a good day. On a bad day, it has prove

QuoteThe Anticult Very generic name. Strange for a cult, as they often choose Grandiose names to reflect the Ego of their founder...The Royal Way...etc... I think it's that the founder only gave it a name out of necessity for dealing with the local Council etc. Doing that gave him ideas. Then he met his current other half who wanted a vehicle for world domination :D I'll experim

QuoteJack Oskar Larm Someone like Icke probably also believes in Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster. No, that wouldn't be attention-seeking enough to sell books etc or just get talked about. QuoteWhen I search for this site using Google it is the top listed response. I searched with quote marks: "Rick Ross". No problems, number one! I know, I don't mean that I mean that if you search for individual groups under their individual names, some of them have removed the google listing of threads about them on this forum.
