Respected polls reveal that half of all adult Americans believe UFOs are real and 12% claim to have seen one.1 Credible UFO experts estimate the number of alleged sightings worldwide in recent decades to be perhaps in the millions.2 This fascination has given rise to a number of UFO religions or cults, including the Aetherius Society, the Unarius Academy of Science, and the Raelian Movement. Calvery Chapels are humming along just fine. You can find problems in any organization on this earth. With Calvary Chapel, they are the exceptions and not the rule in my experience. I do think that bringing those problems to the light gives every organization an opportunity to improve and change for the better. I don't think though that simply changing church bylaws results in more spir

I won't dispute that. Everything you just said is true. That being said, they are working hard to change the education part of that paradigm. Education has become one of their greatest focuses. They have purchased quite a bit of land and already have the plans in place for building to begin for a permanent VO university on the scale of a Azusa Pacific. They state at that, "Curr

The English language word proselytism is derived ultimately from the Greek language prefix 'pros' (towards) and the verb 'erchomai' (to come). It generally describes attempts to convert a person from one point of view to another. Goverments, businesses, organizations, schools, prisons, churches, person(s)-to-person(s), etc... are all places where personal and corporate bel

Might be a good place to introduce Godel's theorem. Though I don't think it applies to non-quantified statements of perception nor do I think truths are only those epistemological claims proposed in formalized systems.

I understand there are many perspectives and really the discussion is ongoing in many areas regarding the history of humanity and race. That said, a book I read recently and found interesting on the topic was: "Who was Adam?" by Dr. Fazale Rana & Dr. Hugh Ross. I understand that YE advocates will not allow themselves to agree with their conclusions; however, the book was car

There certainly are organizations all over the world that expouse blatant anti-white propaganda (example?: NOI and theologies about how the "white devils" were created as a laboratory experiment in isolating the evil gene of humanity qualifies and do a search on the San Francisco Zebra murders while you are at it). Many of them hide under the guise of nationalism (example?: many bel

I would recommend court ordered anger management classes.. lol. Ok seriously education is paramount. To really understand NS you need a historical perspective, and there you will find many occultic influences such as Guido Von List and Madame Blavatsky for example.

Is there a lot of this in Australia? I know many of the young earth creationists coming out of there are going around accusing everyone who doesn't agree with their exact interpretations as heretics (science and everyone/everything else be damned basically). I don't really understand why they would do this as the discussion is not even a salvation issue.

Canuck: Actually, McArthur is respected in mainstream Christian circles. It is the job of a pastor to "routinely criticize for their lack of commitment to scripture." You need to balance sermons on sin with sermons on grace, but you can't have one without the other. New Life: Very good point. In fact, I would propose that in modern evangelistic theology the necessity and impact

I will reprint this for your edification because I believe it accurately explains Calvary Chapel. "Dear Eclectic I think you are on the wrong track with regard to Calvary Chapel. Over the last 3 years I have had some interesting experiences: I destroyed a real Christian cult, The Assembly of George Geftakys. The Rick Ross website was intrumental in this, as was a website that I ra

I believe the ongoing discussions being held between FARMS (the Mormon science arm of LDS) and the Christians and scientists are important as they continue to refute the scientifically couched objections FARMS comes up with regarding DNA that simply don't stand up to modern scientific scrutiny. I have the pleasure of being part of a group of Christians from that are scientists (even though I

I have personally found some of the RB Thieme information incorrect (i.e. wherever he is getting his science information regarding how creation occurred and unfolded for example) and other portions are overtly heavily weighted (such as the sole reason for the universe and humanity is to resolve the heavenly conflict doctrine he teaches). My two cents.

I would say, based on my 20 years of being a Christian, my relationships and discussions with some of the top published Christian cult specialists and my three years of full time participation with Victory Outreach, that they are not a Christian cult. I use Ravi's and Walter Martin's definition regarding what a cult is rather than a secular (i.e. Wikipedia for example) definition an
