I was with the Apostolic church for about three years when I was young. I had been interested in Christianity and my family was atheist, so when we moved next door to a good :?: Christian family I started going to church with them. Thus began three solid years of fear and intimidation. I believed the hellfire and brimstone teaching. Why not? They had good, solid answers based in scripture

Umm... Probably not the sort of biblical interpretation one would find in a traditional Christian church. Those two entities are usually seen as polar opposites. Like with any new church, just stick one foot in the door for awhile until you have a better idea of what they are about.

Well, having been in the biker world myself, I do know that there is a certain manner and dress expected of bikers. If you don't adhere to them, and if you don't ride a Harley, then you ain't a "real biker". Maybe this is different with the influx of "mcub"s and with groups like HOG. There seems to be more leeway regarding persona.

Ah, mea culpa. Google IS a wonderful thing; apparently more informative than my own newspaper and favourite science magazine, where I got this info from. The stuff you read had much more detail. I wouldn't think I'd have to double-check science magazine articles or newspaper articles but obviously I do.... Nonetheless, those are three reported cases; maybe there are more out the

Anybody dropping by to check my children for a fever will be tossed out of my house with one less arm if they try to touch them. Whether your children were really sick or it was only an excuse to stay away from church, it is not up to your pastor to take this on as his own problem. Run away quick. Any pastor going up your butt with a microscope like that is nothing but trouble.

Oh, THAT kind of exposed! I can't wait for the next pair to come a'knockin' at my door. I guess those ones are excused from wearing their sacred undergarments. (They apparently go from neck to knee) Zeuzor --- how in the heck do you find this stuff??

Well, the other two videos posted in the second post on this thread were still up on YouTube. At least they're short, thank God. "Make it a great day"????? Is that Landmarkianspeak by chance? A friend of mine says that. I wondered where that came from. Regarding the "...fifteen years of therapy in three days" comment: I've had some pretty c

I haven't tried the links for the other videos yet but the very first one posted in this thread is down. Must've been a good one! I really should look at these things when they come up on this site right away, rather than waiting for a few days. Sounds like some of this stuff has expiration dates (ie. when their host cult catches up to them!).

I noticed that the link posted above, to a Wikipedia entry about Sai Maa, seems to be invalid now. Now the Wiki page just says there is nothing about her. The above link to "before and after pictures of Miracle Water" is also no longer valid. Maybe too many people were laughing too hard for that group to actually keep it up. An MLM group called Nikken also has so

An author by the name of Hal Lindsey wrote some books in the '70s about this kind of thing, one of which is called "Satan Is Alive And Well On Planet Earth". He's your typical literal biblical evangelical, whereby every word in the Bible is considered to be the actual word of God and therefore infallible.

I took a look at the Raelian website. I've certainly heard about them and wondered what their baseline belief system really is. Apparently it is the belief that we were "intelligently designed" by aliens. Alright, so who "designed" those aliens? What's the history? Was there a "first alien" some time, way back? That belief

Near the end of the "Process" section they claim that you will be able to fly. QuoteThe Pineal gland has certain psychic and navigational functions. Navigational means one can fly like the birds. They also go on to say: QuoteYou can develop psychic skills of telepathy, television and have your body at different places simultaneously. Awesome! Now I can send one of me to wo

Corboy, this book you suggest sounds like a valuable resource. This seems to "put the finger" on the trauma that so many people can't quite identify. Thanks for this suggestion. I'm going to find it and add it to my library.

Kudos back atcha, eggplant. This link you provided is something else. I knew Waldorf schools are alternative but I had NO IDEA they were so far off the radar. I wonder if the curriculum differs according to the provincial or state standards. Their practise of not allowing a child to enter first grade until they have lost their baby teeth wouldn't fly around here; kids need to be in a

I also want to say, I found it amusing that in the letters he recently sent out Hansard mentioned the "negative" website against him. People who probably trusted him will likely Google his name to find out about this "negative website". Way to shoot yourself in the foot, bud.

The person who set up the online petition supporting Hansard said the following: QuoteHe has proven himself oh so human, yet no less human and no more fallible than the rest of us. I have always found this sentiment to be particularly galling when applied to people who have victimized others. It seems to be a perennial favourite of people who have REALLY messed up and brought harm to peop

Tolerance for everyone except gays (men AND women or just men?) and mixed-race people -- which most of us ARE, according to geneticists. Guus, it's not the weird beliefs that raise eyebrows. My neighbour lent me one of his videos many years ago. I found him to have the dullest, blandest persona possible without actually being in a coma. His material tends to be of the "miraculous discovery/conspiracy theory" nature. In that video he talked about some kind of miracle water where one small vial cleaned an entire tank of sludge, leaving only pure water. He talked about r

Or has that petitio

Hi again Rhony, I also wanted to mention that it would be a good idea to keep an "anchor" on the "outside", someone outside of Unity who can help to gauge your state of mental health. If you start getting flaky and gushing about positive thinking all the time, they can smack you and pull you out again! Might not be a bad idea also to write down some of your feelings now,

Hi Rhony, Sounds like you have your head on straight and can think for yourself in spite of your church surroundings. I'd say go ahead and keep going if you like the people, keep thinking straight like you are, and you may eventually decide against going there anymore because you're on a different mental wavelength than they are. Or, you might stay on. Either way, keep thinking fo

Question lady, that last post of yours should be put somewhere permanently; under one of the other sections of this site like Mind Control or somewhere. You summed it up perfectly, and even brought up some points of which I was unaware until this point, mainly that the "old" you was such a "chump" anyway that any logical breakthrough from that self can easily be discounted.
