I transfered a reply about the Byron Katie info in the Byron Katie thread.

Anyone who has studied NLP can instantly see that Byron Katie is doing a lot of NLP and hypnotic techniques, in her own style. But what will blow your mind if you look into her, is that she is one of the most deceptive liars ever to come out of the NLP field, and that is saying a lot. Byron Katie denies knowing anything about NLP, and says she became Enlightened by magic one-day in a half-way h

just as a counterpoint to the extremely unhelpful books by Eckhart Tolle... there is an emerging method called MBCT, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. It is being tested in clinical trials, and developed by a number of people, combining knowledge from Cognitive Therapy with Mindfulness. It seems like a good idea, and might be worth looking into. A recent book that just arrived for review

Tjena/ Chris: Its nice to see someone who has obviously studied some of the hypnosis material, in regards to being Artfully Vague, etc. Byron Katie does her own very powerful variant of Ericksonian Hypnosis, but literally using it against people in a highly destructive way to suit her own purposes. Much of it is explained in this other thread. She even does the Handshake Induction on peop

Hi Sparky, yeah I should be more careful in my terminology. "Trance" is a technical term in Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP, which has a very different meaning than the word we use in common speech. (Trance basically means 'inward focussed attention' in that field). Its better to use the term Hypnosis and post-hypnotic suggestions. But the Suggestions implanted during the wa

"csp" is clearly working overtime as a Apologist for Eckhart Tolle, and is actually doing many of the same tactics as Tolle, one of them being creating a web of confusing thought distortion. Eckhart Tolle does this for only one reason. If Tolle were to have a specific Mindfulness Practice, or whatever, then people learn it, and then never come back! In his early years, he learned h

I agree with both of the previous posts. People posting here can see what Eckhart Tolle is doing. If you look back, you will see that I also came to the conclusion that Tolle was a hypnotist. He is deliberately confusing people, to lure them into his circle, and thus he can run his business and make serious money. Tolle is like someone who CLAIMS they are a great violin player...but you c

Came across this article about some lady who appeared on the Oprah infomercial for Eckhart Tolle. The Oprah show preselects their audience commenters very carefully, put them through all sorts of pre-preparation for MONTHS, even goes as far as to install Skype and webcams for these people. Its a complete sham. They present these people as someone who is Skyping in a question, when in reality

I happened to see an old classic telling of the old myth...ALADDIN. Its interesting, in The Secret, they refer to Aladdin. But in the real story, its NOT like they say at all, of course. Aladdin in the tale, seems to be a metaphor for your own Unconscious Mind. The "castle" it builds, could be something like a work of art, ideas, etc. In the classic story, the Evil Magician tr

I can see how Oprah is connected in a sense to EST at this point. Oprah is all about "Transformation"...Be Awakened, blah blah blah. As far as Tolle, I can tell you as someone who has looked at this stuff for too long...there is NOTHING to "get". I think that is his trick. Take a simple concept from Zen Buddhism...and then complicate the shit out of it, confuse people,

Actually, I read the text about LSD before and posted it, where Tolle said he took LSD, and how it was similar, yet also different. So what? LSD trips are always different, some good, some bad. Its a dangerous drug. But what Eckhart Tolle is describing is a basic Trance state, known by various names including hypnosis. Most people can experience these Trance states quite easily, and even hav

Eckhart Tolle does display an astonishing ignorance in various areas of human knowledge. The most glaring is in his view of Nature itself. His comments about the first "flowers" show he has NO CLUE of what he is talking about...he just makes up whatever he wants. He is completely ignorant in those areas. Clueless. (Here is a good TV program about Flowers from PBS, NOVA, First Flower)

Eckhart Tolle did admit to taking LSD, and he said it was SIMILAR to how he allegedly experiences the world, but not as good. (again no proof, just claims without proof). Some people are highly imaginative, and can easily go into deep hypnotic Trance states, and you can imagine anything you want. Its called Imagination and Visualization. Not that profound. You do it every night...its called d

another ludicrous thing about Eckhart Tolle, is he, and his people, say that he is not running a New Age religion, or any type of personality cult. Well, that is factually FALSE on both counts. Eckhart Tolle is literally running a personality cult around himself and his writings and products, as well as running a highly organized distributed, decentralized type of New Age "church"

Tolle changed his name for MARKETING purposes. If he wanted to have a "new spiritual name" he could have kept that private. He can call himself Sri Sri Ramalama DingDong in his bedroom if he wants to. But he picked a new LINGUISTICALLY LOADED name..."Eckhart" to use as a marketing tool, in his persuasion of those he charges money. Its BRANDING and MARKETING 101. As far

I made a post about Eckhart Tolle Hypnotist. That is actually very revealing about Eckhart Tolle. It appears Tolle planned and created the oversold ticket and seating problems on purpose, to trigger emotions in people, and then use that against them to make them feel NEW AGER GUILT about not being enlightened like Tolle says he is. That is the "story" that Tolle only had that other name...but is that a fact? Is it true? Isn't that kind of Egotistical for Tolle to take the name of a FAMOUS MYSTIC as his own? It would be like changing your own first name to Socrates, Plato, Michelangelo, Caesar or Napoleon! Hey, lets all change our first names to famous people. Caesar ________. Seriously, that is when

What is amusing about Tolle is he seems to attract 2 types of followers...the New Agers who are anti-intellectual, usually due to unpleasant school experiences. But he also seems to attract highly educated folks too, who he can lure in with with his Tolle Linguistic Mind-Games and name-dropping. So it appears that Tolle flunked out of some academic schools. So why is he hiding it? Why is h

I actually think the bible-based Christians are more intellectually honest than either Oprah or Tolle!! They are at least being honest in what they believe, right or wrong or crazy. But Oprah and Tolle are both saying that Tolle's ideas are OK with conventional Christianity...which they are NOT. Its like saying the Moonies are also Christian, in a similar way. Or that Islam and Chris

Its interesting how Eckhart Tolle is using the same methods, and following the same path as every other New Age culty leader. The comment above tries to connect Oprah's giving away of money, to her crappy thinking? There is not a connection. She might be a generous person, but that does not mean she knows what she is talking about in these areas. It appears this week Oprah is doing an ho

happened to read a review of Tolle (below). Its done by a Christian, and I happen to disagree with much of what this guy says...BUT, he is at least intellectually honest! But he does show how Tolle is promoting his own type of New Age Religion. As a matter of fact, Tolle could be classified as a New Age Fundamentalist. Why? Because Tolle pretends his ideas are not just his belief system, but th

There are other threads here criticizing Eckhart Tolle as well. To someone who has looked at these types of things for a very long time, its clear that Eckhart Tolle is a fraud. An intellectual fraud who does not recognize his sources. A spiritual fraud pretending he is something he is not. A psychological fraud as his ideas in that area are damaging. A scientific fraud as his comments about

Great post, DTE. Ego-Death is completely ridiculous in the modern world. If you are a monk in a cave, or a rich New Age Guru who likes to play-act...then fine. But the rest of us mortals would like to keep our wonderful Minds which are a miracle of Evolution. The human mind is a fantastic thing, its not the enemy. Its possible Tolle's mental illness which was driving him to suicide,
