- Is Your Spiritual Teacher a Narcissist - Gigi Young Quote1) They are more "special" than you. They have more of a connection to higher abilities or god. 2) They put others teachers down. No one is as good as them. They are threatened easily by others. (Corboy They make jokes at the expense of other teachers and traditions or even insult them.) 3) They seek pity or are a

Analysis of a Byron Katie Dialogue Small excerpt QuoteBecause Katie is not doing any trained CBT here (which presents itself as a technique, not a pathway to mystical truth brokered by an awakened being), the impact of the scene as a scene must be considered. Note the benevolent aggression of Katie’s body language. She leans forward, makes intrusive eye contact, smiles in an alpha wa

Here are examples of passing thought conglomerates that would NOT form or would be written off as delusional if someone used Trungpa's method of thought noting or Tolle's method of dropping thought and remaining in some luminous 'now'. Once, I strolled down a neighborhood street and saw a large cactus. Suddenly, in spite of myself I imagined saying to some trustful visit

Here is a situation that relates to thought stopping, rather than the sort of Trungpa's method as reported by Chandler of noticing and noting individual thoughts, then making them go, with no chance for each thought to form any relationship with the other thoughts and construct a narrative. This person reported trouble after getting involved with Eckhart Tolle material. QuoteWha

Thank you for your post, you explained it so clearly. I can relate to everything you stated. My experience is very similar , but was connected to Gestalt therapy ,and Transactional Analysis Therapy. Someone who tried to break big in the Self Help industry found she could not cope with the stress. Her mistake was: she didn't have the nerve to acquire an entourage of helpers. What "powerofno" has written is fascinating. QuoteLovebombing Eckhart Tolle says that only those who are "ready" for his teachings will recognise their truth. I wanted to lay out some of the tricks that I've started to become aware of Mr. Tolle using. Tolle's Tricks Trance Induction and Hypnotic Suggestion In the Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle encourages you to not think about what you are reading, but instead to (paraphrasing) "feel the truth" of it. If your mind raises any doubts or concerns, he says that you should cast the

Hello everybody. This is my first post here. I wanted to share my experience with the so-called 'teachings' of Eckhart Tolle. I know ET has been discussed on some other threads on here, but those discussions seem to have died down which is why I'm doing this as a new topic. I apologise if that's not the protocol. This is going to be quite a long, rambly personal account. Ag

Dear Darlof: One way to assess a teacher's character is to observe how he or she deals with source material. If someone claims to be sole custodian of something for which no one can be sole custodian -- hmmm. One item to be aware of is that some are out there who claim that a "serious seeker" gives up all claim to basic human rights. That one isnt a serious seeker unless

Corboy, thank you for your kindness and all your advice. I will definitely use my gut feeling and my sound judgement when I face religious movements that are new to me. About the religious groups and meetings, I think they're a bad idea in general. At least for me I'm certain that the spiritual realisation is too personal and unique to be the same for even two people. I prefer to be

Dear darlof, I am no authority on anything. I can offer advice I wish I'd heeded earlier on: * Do what you can to run background checks on anyone you consider getting involved with. If the teacher has published books, look at *all* of the books. Bookfinder dot Com is a potential research tool. You can see if you can get the books for free by inter library loan. Why do this?

That's kind of what SIF and butler devotees tried to do with thier ridiculous web campaigns. There must be at least 100 sites all related to butler. They are basically simplistic sites that give little to no authentic info about butler. In essence they have attempted to paint over the butler empire as a Ekhart Tolle style meditation group.

Good analogy, Corboy, the daisy. She certainly does cast herself in the best possible light. But all of "the work" is still based on your being honest with yourself--continually (not easy). Yeah. Sounds pretty hypocritical to me if they are charging that much money but you do have a point that if someone could do that they would want to share it. It's just all the evidence I've seen is against it working.

YeleneJBean "If you could really do that with your mind why write all the books and do all the business deals. To give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they do want to help people, but then it turns into a hug
