Why doesn't a real mental health professional write a book called something like. JUNK THERAPY. Sort of like the Junk Science books, but applied to mental health? He would not even have to name names and risk getting attacked, but just put together a way for the general public to sort facts of real therapy and self-help from these insane damaging sects, like Byron Katie. The book c

Sure, saying some therapists are lazy or fearful was sloppy wording. first off, most are very busy just running their own business. And unfortunately, many seem to take Unconditional Positive Regard (Rogers) and apply it to everything in the therapy. So if a person brings in anything, they support it to an extent. But also, many therapists do not want to get involved in any type of public

There is a wealth of information deconstructing Byron Katie Inc in this very large thread on BK going back a couple years. Its useful to view Byron Katie Inc from the viewpoint of an actual mental health provider, who does actual therapy with real people with real problems, in the real world. Also, its essential to view BKI from the point of view of a massive corporate business, making

Byron Katie is still at it, still able to induce trance-states in such a way to make true believers believe she is a divine superbeing. Byron Katie is so skilled a rapid hypnotic trance-induction, that she can walk into a room, and start to put people into trance states in just a few minutes. Its possible to learn and develop those skills, but it takes talent and a lot of experience, and BK has

Its looks like Seung Sahn and Muktananda were just trying to "diss" eachother and give the other guy a "kick" in an infantile game of one-upmanship. (typical of gurus, who are the supreme narcissists) Its pretty obvious that Seung Sahn was afraid that Muk would make him look like an ignorant, uneducated peasant, so Seung Sahn just says a bunch of nonsense to try and deflect.

an area that has not yet been researched, is Stephen Mitchell. Time to open that up. After all, right after he joined the BK club, many of the BK prices got jacked-up like crazy, as has been shown. The wikipedia talk page for Stephen Mitchell is interesting, as it shows him trying to edit his own page with his own self-promotional PR statements, and he was chided by several wikipedians for

QuoteCruzA friend of mine who frequently visits Byron Katie’s Institute For The Work Forum brought the following to my attention. A few days ago someone quoted some info from your site regarding the true origin of Byron Katie’s ‘Tao book’. This contribution turned out to be the last entry on the ‘open’ forum. About an hour later the forum was closed “in order to better serve" the visitors.

Going through the book version of "A Thousand Names for Joy" by Byron Katie and Stephen Mitchell. The very last page of the book is full of embedded linguistic unconscious and conscious COMMANDS, which look like a normal text. But they are written as strong commands to the Unconscious, they are literally post-hypnotic suggestions, and they outline the basic PROCESS of Grooming Katie

Its very interesting how Katie promotes her illnesses and sicknesses, real and/or imagined. As mentioned above, any ethical person in a psychotherapeutic setting would never even mention an illness, never mind Blog about it in highly manipulative and exaggerated ways. Just from the CD "A Thousand Names For Joy", Katie basically lists every illness she has ever had..false cancer scar

also, just to be clear, there is nothing wrong with this type of hypnosis, when done ETHICALLY, with consent, and if it empowers people. It can be very creative, and can work well. But that is not the case with Byron Katie. Luckily, even just the public knowledge that she is doing some type of "hypnosis" is going to help people. That is why she conceals it so completely. The only on

The complexity and subtlety of this is why people need to do some serious study of these Advanced forms of Persuasion that are being used these days. It all started when the NLP guys studied Milton Erickson, and wrote all those books, and it went from there. Now they have fused it with Social Influence, Social Engineering, and advanced Sales techniques, and many other things. Byron Katie seems t

whenever you hear someone like Katie constantly telling little weird "Stories", that is generally this brand of hypnotic symbolic persuasion. For those who have been exposed to the technical literature, it just LEAPS out instantly. Its totally blatant. No different than for someone who knows a little about music, Mozart and Bach can be distinguished in a few seconds, but for a non-m

Here is a educational excerpt for analysis, of the text about the "Washing Machine" from the book "A Thousand Names For Joy" by Byron Katie. Byron Katie has literally taken wonderful symbolic techniques from advanced hypnotherapy, and reversed them, literally using them AGAINST the subject (YOU). For a person to do that knowingly, they would have to be a sociopath or worse, or just a utter uneducated ignoramous, which Byron Katie isn't. She is highly skilled in these arts. The most serious problem with Katie is she is insertin

What is interesting about those metaphors and symbols from above, is that the exact same ones are used by Ethical hypnotherapists, but used in a humane and empowering way. That is why they leap out so badly. I have never seen these hypnotic patterns TurnedAround like that. (Katie did a Turnaround and turned ethical hypnotherapy around into its opposite, literally). Yes, its a good idea to get the exact text of what she says about sexual and physical abuse, and trauma, and other psychological issues. Of course books are run through the publishers and scrubbed as clean as possible...you might just find mainly very carefully parsed language. It might be more revealing to find some video, or online postings, or pamphlets, etc. But its an amazing Miracle.

Does anyone happen to have the ebook, or text from the Byron Katie book, with the beyond ironic title "A Thousand Names for Joy"? just for some perspective...someone I know promoted/booked lots of Richard Bandler seminars over the years, and I've heard most of his material. For example, his Neurosonics Inductions, and all his books, HDE, etc. Bandler is a questionable character, questionable ethics. BUT, his material is actually about 1000x more empowering than the Byron Katie stuff. 10,000x. For example Neuroso
