Text of New York Post article Corboy note: It seems pretty clear from the testimony of many, not only Szabo and Shaw, but statements from many other persons, that some powerful experiences were elicited by tech used both by Muktananda and Gurumayi, and Stuart Resnick on his so called spiritual life page, did state the Muk was friends with Werner Erhard and had learned to use EST technology i

Did the EPL author actually meet GM in India? Or afterwar

There has been a lot of information published about Gurumayi and the guru who groomed her, Muktananda Here is information from RR.com's archive The Siddha Yoga faithful are not nice in their methods. When New Yorker magazine published Liz Harris' article O Guru Guru, in the 1990s, When Marta Szabo arranged to give a reading of her memoir The Guru Looked good, exposing

Fanclubs? Arnold Patent? Willem de Ridder had a radio show, too in the 1990s. A media impresario. BK may have had a chance to learn by observation of de Ridder how to turn a workshop based human potential business 'gig' into a media nexus. For in addition to his radio show, Willem de Ridder had apparently used material from Arnold Patent (and to his credit, acknowledged Patent

Quote from one of the sources cited above: QuoteTo recover from Muktananda and his path, one may also need to study up on LGATs, and their unromantic but very potent Werner Erhard derived LGAT 'tech'---an area that many former devotees seem never to examine. How can one recover from an LGAT if you dont even know your supposedly authetnic Hindu guru applied LGAT tech and did not s

This film, by Joan Radha Bridges, is about Muktananda. He appointed two co-successors, Nityanananda and Gurumayi Chidvalas, his niece. When persons who suffered try to describe the harm they incurred, and speak up so as to make amends by warning prospective recruits about the history of SY, all too often the people who experienced only the bliss, show up and give various arguments along

American Tantric Dissimulation--Hiding the Actual Source of Influence From the RR.com message board, I would like to add a further comment to Chapter 43 on Janaki's blog--Am I Whacky? To Janaki: Just wait. Sooner or later the inevitable guru apologist (s) will arrive and claim that its only our own craving minds that cause all the trouble. No, friend. The problem is not our crav

First, she was contacted for recruitment by a BK insider from connections with Muktananda, who strongly pushed her to go to a BK Workshop, and Janaki said she did NOT want to go.

It would be interesting to find out how many of the Byron Katie senior people and inner circle come from Muktananda and Siddha Yoga, and related groups. Muktananda died in 1982, (he also had connections with Werner Erhard, as well as the cult leader and sex abuser Sai Baba) and it does appear that a significant number of people connected with Muk are connected with the Byron Katie system, and

Pilot, I owe you an apology. I let myself get rattled, after the troll visits weve had. Your directing us to Janaki's blog has been a huge, huge, help. This is the saddest thing about troll attacks. It leads us (certainly me) to get nervous and then hit out at friends. This says a very great deal: QuotePerfect & Untouchable Katie says, ‘I am here for your projection’,

A very interesting discussion thread on Werner Erhard and Est is available here. Since Werner helped sponsor Muktananda in one of his early visits to the US and one person suggested that Muk incorporated Est tech into Siddha Yoga intensives, this thread is worth reading and pondering.

And if others have utilized this same 'tech' and incorporated it into their own stuff and have not told you, then its possible to be affected by this unknowingly. At least one entity that presented as Hindu and not as an LGAT at all, reportedly incorporated EST tech into its system. So..how on earth could people affected by this know all the material used on them, if the EST tec

? American Hidden Tantra? ---------------------------------------------------- for a sample, here is a chapter from Marta Szabo's blog. Read it and the comments. One thing that is very interesting is the matter of whether to keep using the mantra (OM Nama Shivaya) one learned in Siddha Yoga, or to give it up. If LGAT tech was incorporated into a seemingly ancient Hindu praxis

The Hidden Unspoken Ingredient of the Siddha Spell? Since there was earlier discussion on this thread that related to how some crossed over from Siddha/SYDA Yoga (often abbreviated as 'SY') to other LGATs and even to BK, I researched some ancient SY dialogues posted on AOL between 1995/6 and found some intriguing material. This can be read on this thread. SY survivors st

Vera: I cannot directly answer your questions. Only persons who have been through a particular group and then study its deviations from the Hindu norm AND also take the trouble to read up on LGAT techniques can answer that question. I found material pertaining to one group--SY on some old AOL threads from 1995-1996. The situation may be different today in SY--one hopes so. But in lookin

This is mostly based on material shared by persons who were in SYDA/Siddha Yoga during the period of time (1970s--1996) who have published accounts online. Matters may since have changed. But for those in SY still struggling to recover and who berate themselves for being weak of will...do ask if possibly it is time to examine LGAT (large group awareness training) 'tech' for its un ro

Am thinking of opening a thread based on material shared by persons who were in SYDA/Siddha Yoga during the period of time (1970s--1996) who have published accounts online. This is an avenue for speculation. This already-published material leaves me wondering whether recovery has been greatly hampered because subjects from SY thought they were exposed merely to a toxic patriarchal Hindu

There are some inaccurate and even dishonest statements being made in the RandomStu drive-by posting above. It reminds one of what can be read on some Siddha Yoga websites...of the subset of ex-SYDA people who basically say..."I got mine, so screw you". also, lets always remember, dealing with any type of culty issue can be very emotional and stressful for everyone involved. And its very easy to misinterpret plain-text email, as there is no voice-tonality. (they teach you how to manipulate voice-tonality in NLP, and Byron Katie uses that technique very carefully). So from time to time some of the threads are going to get emotional and highly
