I am just finishing up my undergrad work, receiving a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology. I am interested in working with, and counseling, those who have left or are in the process of leaving a cult, sect, or relgious group. Right now I am planning on getting my MSW...Is there anyone I could talk to who has experience in this background, or could give me advice...? I would also really like to know how the process works in the therapy session...If the therapist has books, workbooks, or specific training material he/she must master before counseling... Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
StandingRoom

I feel I still have some unresolved issues when it comes to the cults I got involved with and then left. Personally, the first cult was a Christian church that fliipped out. It led to more trouble.
I could also provide you with my views on why people get attracted to cults and the types of people cults target.
