I don't confuse ND Buddhism and SGI. I don't think they are one and the same?
They *were* the same, but then those horrid, awful priests excommunicated the SG. THAT was a BIG problem for Ikeda and the Ikedabots, because, under Japanese law, if a religious organization excommunicates its lay organization, that lay organization can no longer claim a religion tax exemption by riding on the priests' coattails - the priests being the root religious organization, with the lay organization just an offshoot.

So in order to keep their religious exemption, the SGI had to redefine itself to be *different* from its former parent NS. I would *love* to see a diagram showing the difference between the two now, side by side. I'm sure one of the differences is that, instead of "Follow the priest", the SG now says "MENTOR/DISCIPLE - Follow Ikeda NO MATTER WHAT!" That would explain why the publications are now almost exclusively about Ikeda.
