That actually would be a good experiment, to take various SGI materials one might have, and then have a little freedom of mind ceremony, and burn them.
One could then monitor and write up their SGI burning "Experience".
Just like SGI has their concocted and edited advertising story testimonials they call "Experiences"...like...I was sick with a fever of 140 for 18 months, was broke, alone, and was going bald, and then I gave ALL my money and savings to Ikeda, and was instantly healed and found a new car in my driveway...and my hair grew back instantly.
Except these SGI burning Experiences would be like...I burned my old SGI junk, and I now I feel great, as I am breaking free of the SGI indoctrinations and superstitions.
Its very interesting how so many aspects of SGI are not compatible with "real" Buddhism.
For example, the greed, and self-centeredness, and dishonesty in recruiting, and many other things.
And the bogus SGI superstitions about the SGI altar, and pieces of paper. Its all just primitive superstitions, like being afraid of black cats or a broken mirror.
In proper Buddhism, the entire point is supposed to be non-attachment.
For example, the Tibetan Buddhist sand mandalas [
en.wikipedia.org] spend days and weeks creating beautiful mandalas, and then they destroy them. That is very profound stuff, its about the beauty of life, and also how to not be over-attached to everything, yet still enjoy it. Not easy to do.
But if SGI made a SGI sand mandala, they would put a huge image of Ikeda in the center of it! They would then list Ikeda 250 fake degrees from China on the edges.
They would then put a nude reclining pose of Ikeda as Caesar.
And they would charge you a $5,000 "donation" for the sand to make the mandala. Then they would turn it into cement, and charge you another 5 grand to put it in your living room. Then SGI-Ikeda would tell you if you damage the SGI mandala, you will die of cancer instantly, or be attacked by spiders.
Then one day when you die one day of old age or natural causes, the SGI police will break into your home and try to steal your SGI concrete mandala.
Ikeda would have a mandala made of pure gold, studded with diamonds, rubies, guarded 24/7 by SGI "volunteer"s.
SGI is utter madness, if one just thinks about it in the context of actual Buddhism.
What ever happened to non-attachment? There should be ZERO attachment to an "altar" or any piece of paper, or any of that nonsense.
And to destroy it, should be a sacred act, like the Buddhists destroy a mandala.
But SGI deliberately uses excessive attachment and SGI superstitions to create FEAR in their own members, and people who are afraid can be controlled and managed.
On basically every point, SGI has nothing really to do with Buddhism. Buddhism should not be about fear, hatred, greed, self-centeredness, fake degrees bought from China, gold faucets, global money laundering...
Ikeda has done this to "Buddhism", as Ikeda believes the mass public are a bunch of dummies, who need to be scared and then told what to do. Ikeda has openly stated his contempt for the mass public, and he treats them as such.
Ikeda clearly uses "Buddhism" as a type of fig-leaf to hide behind, as a type of opium for the masses.
Because once some critical thinking gets applied to SGI, the entire house of cards just falls apart.
