Regarding the sex that takes place within Rajneesh/Osho communes, 'therapeutic/meditation' groups and The Humaniversity, it is entirely without commitment or even real human interaction. It is done at the purely energetic level and is justified as a tantric (cosmic) experience. However, we are human, with a wide range of needs, possible responses, aspirations and vulnerabilities, and to repeatedly engage in such behaviour can only create cognitive dissonance, to a greater or lesser extent. This, in my opinion, does not engender greater awareness, respect and compassion for oneself or others, and, therefore, is not a viable spiritual path!

Sadly the 'hook' into these groups is the promise of uncommited free love or rather sex with everyone. Group sexual orgies appear to be the norm. For example 'Yes' parties are held regularly at OshoLeela in Dorset (UK). Yet in order to participate in the Osho retreats in the UK (OshoLeela), Netherlands (Humaniversity), and in India (Pune), participants HAVE to have an HIV test before being allowed in. Never mind all of the other sexually transmitted infections out there such as chlamydia (which can cause cancer in women), and all the other nasties that condoms will not prevent participants from catching; on the BIG assumption that condoms are used in the first place!! And bearing in mind the somewhat confrontational and abusive therapies, after care support for spiritual. mental and physical damage is woefully lacking. The other serious issue (and warning) is that the so-called Osho psychotherapists are not professionally accredited by any recognised organisations. The ONLY plus points with Osho groups now-a-days is that they no longer appear to induct under-age children into sexual activities such as under-age sex, incest, paedophilia, and enforced sterilisation of young girls, all of which was widespread in the 1950s/60s. It must be warned that many Osho disciples or sanyassins are still active in promoting Rajneesh's teachings in the name of 'tantra.' But 'tantra' in Osho terms means 'sex' no more no less.
