PRESSING:

Unfortunately, the 'charm' of JRS worked in his favor enabling him to perpetuate the illusion that we were part of the 'kingdom age'.

Yeah, I just posted this comment because there's so much backlash from those who continue to enable the likes of Rick and Gary about people who have left having a "bad spirit" or consumed with being "negative." It's a massive distraction from meaningful discussion, I think. If someone has what I believe to be a valid point yet seems to lack a "right spirit"...I couldn't care less. In fact, I've posted a few times about even Gary coming on this forum, bad spirit and all (ha), and defending his actions (or inactions) through the years.

p.s. I don't think I've ever been drawn to "horrible negativity" either...with the exception of maybe of watching one too many 'Triumph the Insult Dog' videos.

Well yeah, of course, but looking back I realize what 'drew' me in initially was the appearance that people were actually having fun in church. I became saved in my last year of high school, (The Jesus Movement) and came out of Catholicism right into The Walk but I did not have the Bible foundation to see through it all at the time.

changed,
Hi, mine was just a personal reflection of my own experience and not meant to reflect anyone else's, nor was it meant to minimize the horror of the reality we all endured. I was very young and dumb, and finally, I'm just doing some 'math' and coming to terms with more of it, retrospectively.

My husband's parents are still living and they have memories of visiting a service in Rowland Heights, were horrified at what they heard and tried very sincerely to steer my husband right. They did not ever think they'd live to see this day, either, having visited just once and recognizing the error. So this affects more than just those who were in the walk, but also loved ones by extension.

Believe me, I stopped having 'fun' early on and it really hit rock bottom with G & H coming into power, so we ran out of there as fast and far as we could. It shouldn't viewed as a 'massive distraction' to posit on the 'hook' that drew some, but also to explore (and I'm not there at all), what kept me there. If you disagree with my musings, then maybe best to pass on reading someone's postings who are still 'in process'. This should be kept a relatively safe venue and free from criticisms!

Yes, I hear you.

No problem.

Maybe it's not up to you to decide who's posts there are that are genuine or not. I really think you are obsessed w/it or you wouldn't evaluate genuine vs. insincere. You don't know people hearts.

I feel you have minimized my feelings as well as others reading this by your flippant and glib comments. This is supposed to be a safe forum and I'd ask if you stop deciding which posts are worthy and those you disagree with deserving a spot on these pages.

The fact that you used some x-rated character to get a cheap laugh proves the point. It's careless, especially with people pouring out their hearts. You are cheapening it.

It's very possible it's my posts that suck. I've had a few PM's sent to me while being here that would confirm your take.
Again, no problem. Express yourself, and don't worry what people like me think.
As far as going for a "cheap laugh", that part of me will always be here. Just ignore my posts if it bothers you--I won't be offended.

Work day at my house tomorrow. Free lemonade for all those that work hard...

Sorry, it's too deeply entrenched in my nature :)

Someone else who loathed my sense of humor. But we still managed to get along for over 13 years:
