Yes, it's been one of the best threads to date.

Mostly everyone one on this forum is from the JRS days and less the G&M days, am I right?

Larry:
<The fact that there is so much suffering in TLWF should be a red flag that something is not right. We can make corrections and eliminate that pain, which most of us did by leaving.>

My uncle was a famous banking lawyer, and yet I didn't learn the basics of personal finance until my mid-40's...coincidentally, just after leaving TLWF. Corrections that made my life significantly more coherent and enjoyable all came after getting out from under the incessant brainwashing.

I disagree. The government should not be involved, as people don't want religion in government.

But this is why the people in a church should study scripture on their own and know what is correct and honorable before God. So that they can know when tithes are being used in a scripturally sound way.

Taking care of those ministering is correct; but abusing that for a luxurious lifestyle or forgoing paying utility bills for the church so the pastor can have a fancy car - (my personal experience somewhere else) Or only using that money for the benefit of beautifying the singular church with no community outreach (as is the case with LW) it's absolutely against God's word.

There are well run churches and ministries all over small & large that are financially transparent and doing great work in the world helping people on grassroots level. We don't want those cut off b/c of bad apples.

changedagain - I too did not get my personal finances in order until after leaving TLWF and in my 40's. Since I was involved in leadership, I had to submit a regular report of my personal finances - something the rank and file did not have to do. Lets just say my credit score went up 250 points a couple of years after leaving. It's funny how you can live under so much control and still have no sense of boundaries in common sense areas of life. Looking back, I was more like a teenager than a 40 year old - something my psychologist was quick to point out - and not only with just finances. I was not exaggerating when I said I grew up more in the first 2 years after leaving TLWF than the previous 20 years in TLWF. It certainly was not healthy for me. Now in my 60's, I have to chuckle when I think of some of the shepherds I lived under. It was like something out of a twisted comedy movie that people pretended to be real. It's embarrassing to me now how clueless I was.

I know it's not crap and I'm very sorry for offending anyone. It's just I like the words to this song. I made a little revision to the song with the f word, but you get the point.

"Lift Me Up"
(feat. Rob Halford)

It ain't no mystery
I'm all I have left
I'm pushing back and running you over

I've been thrown down run around
Beaten 'til I hit the ground
Telling you right now that it's over

There's no room for mistakes
All the parts are in place
Say what you will but say it to my face

Better back the f up
Better shut the f up
I'll do what I want and I'll never give up

I won't be broken
I won't be tortured
I won't be beaten down
I have the answer
I take the pressure
I turn it all around

Lift me up above this
The flames and the ashes
Lift me up and help me to fly away
Lift me up above this
The broken the empty
Lift me up and help me to fly away
Lift me up

I'm gonna change history
Enlighten the world
Teach them how to see through my eyes

I'm gonna lash back check that
Fatal as a heart attack
Stomp out all the ugliest lies

You can't convince me to change
We ain't on the same page
I've had my fill now there's nothing but rage

Best get out of my way
'Cause there's nothing to say
Is that all that you got?
Because I ain't got all day

I won't be broken
I won't be tortured
I won't be beaten down
I have the answer
I take the pressure
I turn it all around

Lift me up above this
The flames and the ashes
Lift me up and help me to fly away
Lift me up above this
The broken the empty
Lift me up and help me to fly away
Lift me up

I won't be broken
I won't be tortured
I won't be beaten down
I have the answer
I take the pressure
I turn it all around

Lift me up above this
The flames and the ashes
Lift me up and help me to fly away
Lift me up above this
The broken the empty
Lift me up and help me to fly away

Lift me up to fly away
Lift me up to fly away
Lift me up

I agree that the government should stay out of religion and most everything else, but when they get tax breaks they are involved with the government. JMHO

Yes, I can completely relate.

I was 12 when John died, was 20 when I was ex-communicated. So I guess that puts me right in the middle. My family and I lived in Shiloh during the Victory seige, I went to the Centers of Learning at Shiloh (which was there contrary to what the "leadership" can recall) I don't post very much here because I don't really care about discussing what my relationship with God is. Suffice to say after all the garbage I still have faith, and that's enough for me. I think all of your theological discussions might help some people but honestly you guys rehash the same question over and over again. If you chose TLW as an adult and made the decision to hand your lives over to A MAN (lol) well sorry, hope you can move on and if you brought children into the "Walk" and they were abused I hope you have made amends with them as apparently TLW does not have the funds or the wherewithal to take care of their aging population! Better move close to your children because even after all the time and big money you put into it we really don't give a shit! Good luck to ya!

Southgate-you've been called out here before as a JRS apologist and largely to cast doubt upon anyone posting critical comments here about JRS. You repeatedly attempt to provide spin for JRS in an effort to undercut criticism of his teachings. You appear to know little about how destructive cults work. It seems to me you have never sorted out your experiences with JRS and are still programed by your association with him. If you are that ignorant and or invested in denial why should anyone take seriously your comment that the thread was "crap." Your posts have become very repetitive. Lately it seems your only purpose here is as an apologist and to post music lyrics. People have come here to discuss concerns about the leadership's behavior and treatment of members. When confronted by the firsthand experiences of members who see JRS negatively, you simply go into denial mode. Your attempt to shift the focus of a thread to music lyrics is quite frankly despicable. You come across as someone who is not only poorly informed but who is here to subvert the thread. You are not interested in any meaningful exchange of ideas but rather hope to subvert the thread. The length of your post with music lyrics doesn't make up for the woeful lack of substance. Please don't waste space here apologizing for JRS and repeatedly posting music lyrics in an attempt to subvert the thread.
