Latest bit of vital information I received from 23andme regarding my ancestry:

GET TO KNOW YOUR RELATIVES

top trait
They are 120% more likely to have worked as a lifeguard.

top ancestry
95% of your relatives have Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry.

What I plan to do with this new info...
The next time I go to the beach I'll ask the lifeguards if they are Jews.
It would be a good conversation starter, I think

I recall a few people in this forum referring to phone calls they would get late at night to pray for John because he was allegedly being assaulted by his wife (verbally, I presume). I never thought about it this way...but what if the source of the arguments between the two (John and Martha) was a difference in theology.
Perhaps Martha, without warning, would blast him for adhering to Manifest Sons of God doctrine, and John would (rightly) consider it a satanic attack, asking for prayer support so he doesn't buckle under the pressure. It does seems strange, however, that many of these arguments took place between 2-4 a.m. For the sake of members of the fellowship, I wish they would have fought during most people's waking hours...so the distress calls didn't disrupt the sleep of working people. But I suppose this sentiment is probably yet another indication of a refusal to put their interests first. I've always had a problem with the upward flow. In fact, it's gotten so bad I recently requested my tombstone have this epitaph: 'Not a Fan of the Upward Flow.'

Thanks for sharing the link, walknntalkn. Interesting read...of course, after years of exposure to greedy, manipulative TLWF leaders...my first area of concern is who is likely to profit from these plans. Cynical, I know. Perhaps it is primarily motivated to benefit the community. We'll see.

"There was also discussion about uses for the existing church building."
My suggestion is that it be razed to the ground, and a Museum of Individual Freedom (dedicated to those who unwittingly gave up their lives in support of autocratic cult leaders) taking its place. But that could be a joykill. Nevermind.

Artistic idea for the prospective museum:
A beautiful mural of young adults weeding in the hot sun next to the lagoon, a few pulling leeches off their body (while presumably thinking about how unworthy they are to receive a living word day after day). I think that would be awesome in the entry, setting the tone for curious visitors.
Suggested fee: $40 per visitor

ChangedAgain on 7/19/19 you actuallly came up with some great ideas.

I do not understand what all Kalona, Iowa and Mid Prairie school district could do to benefit the community. But, I think the story of Shiloh needs to be told.

Around the Washington county area and surrounding Iowa counties were a number of religious communities. In fact Iowa has quiet a history of religious freedom stories that may surprise people.
Amana colonies; Amish and the Mennonite to name a few. In up Cedar Rapid in the first Islamic Mosque in the US. Mormon man Trek Trail...

I think it would be fitting to tell the story of the people in the cult.

So far our group of dissenters have not have any opportunity to chime in any community decisions - only the forums of Facebook pages.

Can we come up with ideas by Sunday with who ever wants to to present to Kalona our ideas on Monday? I believe the story of "slave labor" should be told for people to be educated on cults

The phone calls between 2 and 4 a.m. were probably (in addition to what you said Changedagain) because JRS said there was a spiritual channel that had something to do with Hawaii and menehunes On this side of the walk deception, it was probably more closely related to JRS' alcohol consumption waking him up after a few hours of sleep.

Looking back on that, SHEESH - how many cockeyed schemes were we subjected to in order to keep us working hard all the time to line up with the latest. The 3 a.m. "channel time" intercession and the ever changing dietary/health schemes were bad enough but there was so much more.

I wonder if anyone ever asked JRS, "What did You do?" My guess- not being there was that he was drunk and she got home late from the Ball room.
Snark!

Yeah, that's more likely than the official narrative :)
