kbyrne posted 5 days ago. About recognizing she was deceived by John. I reposted her first post. Because she lets us know. She was a Blix girl. I didn't want that piece. Of her story. To get buried.

My thoughts regarding the quote below:

"The hardest day of freedom is better than the best day inside a cult."

After the constant psychotic pace of doing REALLY important busywork for years, and the neurotic seeking of approval and "words from God", living apart from the cult has been positively relaxing.

It was definitely an adjustment that took some time. After all, I had been under the false impression that I was bringing in the Kingdom! It takes some time to get used to being a mere human being again. I thought that I had many wonderful friends. They all disappeared nearly overnight. Think about it. The relationships were often based on work that you were assigned to do together. If you stop doing that and you no longer attend services, they really don't have time for you. Belonging to a group where everyone has a common purpose (even if it is a complete lie) can give you the feeling of importance.

It doesn't happen all at once, and it takes some work, but that quote has definitely been true in my life. Repairing family relationships has been key. Developing hobbies that I enjoy (what???) has also been a new experience. Becoming human rather than a "Kingdom" drone has been very liberating. I highly recommend life outside the cult.

I don't know what motivated the Corbetts to depart, but I do recall Brent Finney being vocal in his opposition to Gary leaving his first wife (Donna) and later marrying Marilyn. He was one of the few authorities that took this stand openly--at least that I am aware of. That likely precipitated his departure, and his family along with him.

Good for the Finneys. That was an extremely weird time period. It's too bad that G didn't announce his divorce and remarriage at the same time. They had to dispense the information in semi-palatable doses. Otherwise a lot more people would have left.

It certainly was a strange time period ('82?). Hargrave Family Ministries was also established around this time (a year or so prior to John's death).

TKNC, I make a conscious effort NOT to look for, act on, or interpret signs, feelings or coincidences anymore. Just keepin' it real. I also don't read auras, but I never saw them in the first place. Ditto on voodoo dolls and sending messages in the spirit. I now try to stick with physical evidence and sending text messages. ;)
