Papa is his latest mark, apparently. Poor Papa.

"A confidence trick is an attempt to defraud a person or group after first gaining their confidence, used in the classical sense of trust. Confidence tricks exploit characteristics of the human psyche, such as credulity, naïveté, compassion, vanity, irresponsibility, and greed."

Gary is a master at this!
Looks like things are working out for him in Brazil. So much for drinking from the cup--ha

On Monday, January 22nd, I was honored to speak to the leadership (BOYS FROM BRAZIL) of the Catholic charismatic movement in Brazil (NAZI HAVEN). I began by expressing the deep oneness I feel with Papa Francisco (BROMANCE) and my appreciation for what he is doing to create oneness in the Body of Christ (ICH BIN EIN BRASILIANER). In this new day, we cannot continue to wait for God to do something that he has already done. There is nothing more for him to do. (DOING MY OWN BRAZILIAN WAXES IS FUN).

At the end of this meeting, the Lord showed us a (SAMBA SCHOOL OF PROPHETS) prophecy about the Catholic charismatic movement. (WHILE WE ALL SHAKED OUR BOOTIES).

Confidence games...the con artist. Since the days of snake oil hucksters and freak shows. After all, a sucker is born every minute.

JRS was the charismatic master of the show, and G&M were his grasshoppers. Without JRS, there would have been no game to trade on. Now only G is left to do the dirty work. It could be that the U.S. is onto the tricks, and there are no crowds to draw. With Silas pimping out his fellow Brazilians, the fields are ripe.

Good point, Changedagain. It's all smoke and mirrors. It's not a funny story like "The Sting". He's not preying on people who deserve it, either. Check out this book: [www.amazon.com]. (Do all cult leaders study the same techniques?)

It's sad, so sad. And no, there's no cup like the one that Jesus drank.

So true. If he preyed upon the rich and powerful, I might have a bit of sympathy. But he focuses on the trusting and vulnerable. Bullies do that. And the thing of drinking from Jesus' cup is such nonsense. He always has a plan in mind that benefits him, and I would be shocked if this "cup" he is supposedly ready to drink will cause any real suffering in his life. Based on Walk/TLWF history, it will be dumped upon the people.
BTW, aside from weathering criticism from those who lost their life savings in the mine debacle...did John take a significant financial hit? I recall an allegation in the divorce trial that he was worth 30 million. Even if that number was grossly inflated, and he was worth say 4-5 million, that still puts him in a much better financial state than the average church member at the time. Do you recall John stating in a "living word" that the ministries should live a lifestyle similar to the people they are ministering to? I guess those were just words.

p.s. I'll check out that book you linked. Thanks

I do remember JRS making that statement, changedagain. I also remember GH making the same statement. Both tended to attach themselves closely to the wealthiest members. In JRS' case, the one I was most aware of was John McKune from Yucaipa. With G&M, Hank Machal and the Greys come to mind. Were they making rules that only applied to others? Or were they rationalizing that a very small minority of members were more well-off than others? Or most likely, it was all B.S. to make people believe that they were living sacrficially.

And no, I don't believe that JRS took a big hit. I think the members bore the loss, as per usual.

I recall Hank raising money from the fellowship to help G & M purchase a BMW. I contributed only $100, so wasn't much help. Still feeling a bit guilty about that (kidding).
BTW, I knew Hank's brother Fred. We were in the Redlands church together. I considered him a very genuine, straight-forward person--someone I could trust. I didn't know Hank personally.

Ahhh...the BMW! I remember that. And the carved turtle coffee table and the fabulous home in Hawaii where they couldn't decide how wide to make the walkway. There were several homes, all complete with slave labor. The perks of being a cult leader...
