He was really big on conspiracy theories too. Often times stories of the Illuminati, tri-lateral commission, etc. would be woven into his sermons. They didn’t have Twitter in those days but there were all sorts of goofballs (like Dr. Peter David Beater) who sent out weekly cassettes (the forerunner of today’s “podcasts”) which he (and probably others) had subscriptions to. Lots of John Birch Society ideas interwoven as well.

I remember thinking this stuff was intreging at the time but it got weirder and weirder to the point that I bolted. I never really looked back till I found this site a couple years ago.

I originally came to Orange Avenue with Dave Cokas as part of that influx of “young people” RDC used to talk about. This would have been in ‘69 or ‘70.

Does anyone know the details about the end of Coniah Chapel? When RD changed the locks on the doors and kicked everyone out? The remnant of the congregation met somewhere else and eventually suied RD to get the property back. Is that how CoHK was born?

The history of the walk and TLWF is riddled with power plays among leadership. Battles over Who gets to control what--all in the name of God, of course. The people are always put in a position of choosing sides--since there acceptance depends on it.
BTW, I've heard Gary is very open about supporting Trump. They do have a very similar approach to dealing with dissension--so it makes sense.

RDC thought that the facility was his possession (and perhaps on paper it was). If I remember correctly, we showed up for a Friday night service and the locks had been changed and we were turned away. We met at Fred Ludwig’s home (the old place, not the newer on up the hill). This didn’t go over too well with his neighbors (TLW worshipers make a lot of noise - as well as constipating neighborhood parking). Eventually (after the neighbors complained enough) we all went down to the Casa DeOro church (which was already up and running) until the lawsuit got worked out. Don’t remember who was running that show. It is still there though under the baton of Dave Cokas (no association with TLW though).

I think RDC went to the Pacific Northwest at that point ultimately winding up in Canada somewhere. Not sure on that, since I didn’t keep track of RD.

It would be interesting to see the money trail on the sale of every church affiliated with the Walk and TLWF--who received the proceeds, what account(s) it went into, and how it was eventually used. With all the talk, post-John, of there being a transparency in the handling of church finances...this has been veiled. Of course, if I was still in TLWF, I certainly wouldn't bring it up. The backlash from the regime would be too much to endure.

That's a sure sign the members are not being fed, but shorn. Didn't Miller have to sign a non-disclosure agreement. That too is a sure sign someone wrong is going on.

The IRS tax rules allow for a parsonage exclusion. That means Gary can exclude his mega parsonages from taxation.
