He was really big on conspiracy theories too. Often times stories of the Illuminati, tri-lateral commission, etc. would be woven into his sermons. They didn’t have Twitter in those days but there were all sorts of goofballs (like Dr. Peter David Beater) who sent out weekly cassettes (the forerunner of today’s “podcasts”) which he (and probably others) had subscriptions to. Lots of John Birch Society ideas interwoven as well.
I remember thinking this stuff was intreging at the time but it got weirder and weirder to the point that I bolted. I never really looked back till I found this site a couple years ago.
I originally came to Orange Avenue with Dave Cokas as part of that influx of “young people” RDC used to talk about. This would have been in ‘69 or ‘70.
