Saturday/Sunday - day 2 & 3 - "We meet again"

Dear Diary

I am convinced I am mad, I actually returned to the forum.

Quite a few people are shattered by the night before, look tired and not terribly enthused to be locked up voluntarily on a beautiful day in the city.

Same routine as day one, same instructions...blah ...blah...do you need coaching, I get asked several times....are you cruising for a bruising I muttered under my breath....how am I finding it? have you had a break through? what are your possibilities? do you fell you are transforming?..."transforming into what, I ask myself" ...ok I'll transform into anything you want your possibility for me is to be?!?!?!?!?!?

"The possibility I am creating for myself and for my life is the possibility of getting through this course as fast as possible so I do not have to put up with irritating dimwits like you"

Alas I did not say it... but it would have been a racket on my part.

The room

Nothing changes same set up. Though later in the morning the forum leader stages a hissy fit with us all for our non-participation in the forum and for a majority of people not doing the assignments...yeah like I am going to do homework at 1:00am in the morning...give us a break.

Learnt that hissy fit or belittling participants happens at all forums so is in fact "staged" nay... "a staged sport" with underlying subtle aggression that we all revert to sheep waiting to be slaughtered.

Pleased with her stage acting and the result of any resistance having been killed off it all smiles and hugs again.

Talk a bit more interesting, key points about relationships, rackets and understanding some of the stories that inhibit personal growth.

Not at all wasted grabbed my imagination this is good.

Microphones are running hot...guilt trips galore being shared for real or imagined offences against family and friends, participants urged to make phone calls, write letters, involve everyone in their gotten, gotta get a breakthrough... gotta get a possiblity....we are all unauthentic...unauthentic? don't you mean inauthentic...grammar!!!!

Starting to think that the Borg collective from Star Trek must have been based on what goes on in forums....

"...resistance is futile you will be assimulated....."

SHOCK! HORROR! Participant gets up and leaves forum without permission...muttering..."sod this"...quick release the hounds...closed the gates ...call out the yellow badge tag brigade ...prisoner escaping.

Is apprehended and comes back looking beaten from the "coaching" they have received.

Coaching

Designed to make you more dysfunctional and confused then you were before. Generally, the coaching I received were from people, in my opinion, not suitably qualified to deal with a personal issues or dilemmas that fall outside the landmark gospel.

More of an Orwellian Animal Farm type approach with one slogan that comes to mind "Possibilties good....critical thinking bad" etc.

Rest of day - same as friday punctuated by some genuine changes in people that could be discerned but the information that is blurted opps....sorry I meant the conversation that I am not a part of but am forced to listen, comtinues.

Sunday - Yawn-- yada yada yada...told off again for not doing homework at 2:00am in the morning. No hissy fit from das leader
some people spoken to are confused about what the forum has achieved for them.(Refer to Borg Collective for membership details)

Something about strong suits (apparently not related to fashion) so don't expect you wardrobe to improve if that it what you came for.

Sale Time

Bring your friends, invite your enemies and your family, share changes that you have had over this psychologically draining weekend on Tuesday.

Astound them with the technology of Landmark that you have acquired, speak like a drone in fact just pull the string that attached to your butt while I sit here and listen to all the drivel and slogans you muster.

Yeah I know your happy wait for reality to bite mate we'll see how you feel in a week.

Next, tell your friends to sign up, the mediator is not a salesperson so won't be forcing anyone to sign up.

****BELIEVE YOU ME MISS A MEETING OR A SEMINAR ONE AND THEY RING YOU LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW**********

Thank God there is nothing on Monday!

Tuesday Evening

Its Sale of the Century or Stock yard sales day

Friends, enemies (hopefully transformed by end of evening or else get a beating), family (if you have any left once they have gone to their introductory meeting) all get herded or champeroened into a big room laid out exactly as the small one that has become just like a second home ...not.

Except there is a difference! The yellow badge tag brigade has been tripled in number at least 2 to 1 for each visitor. The yellow badge brigade then manned their positions behind strategically planned indepth table registration defence system that allowed people to get in but watch them trying to get out without signing up!

Like a religious revival the converted parade themselves in front of the masses who pay homage with the obligatory applause, our floor manager had gone home sick due to dropping the audience prompt cards on his foot, so had to take queue from das leader when to respond....suprised they did not use green and red lights to control auidence response.

Previous graduates from other forums shared how their lives had changed from self-centred-money-chasing-hard-living- thinking about- themselves to self-centred-money-chasing-hard-living -thinking-about-themselves individuals I had to seriously think what had changed or why did they bother sharing???

More ravings from das leader, people are encouraged to join, if you don't join then you get this long list of "possible scenarios" of blocks that are preventing you from doing another mind numbing course.

Slowly but surely people relent and sign up even though one suspects that it is going against their own internal better judgement. I could have signed but didn't ...no way was I going to get harassed the forum was more then enough.

In short stay away from them, if you do not want to become screwed up, get weekly phone calls that border on harrassment do not sign up. There are far more beneficial. less draining personal development courses around that are more sane, in my opinion and experience then Landmark.

In a way, your two posts were as terrifying as they were funny.

You disliked the whole thing, you had grave doubts, kept your sense of humor throughout, yet despite all this, they still zapped you enough that you completed the whole thing, instead of just flipping the middle finger, marching out, and giving a hard kick in the bum to anyone trying to stop you from leaving.

It is powerful stuff when program can entice us to keep coming back, even when we have misgivings.

When you're in there, at least for me, I kept waiting for something to happen, something to make some kind of sense, waiting to see how any of it applied to the reasons my doctor thought I should go. They never delivered, hence, my total refund.

Dafellah, excellent write-up. I'm wondering if your forum had the same acts performed as mine. When the leader is telling us what our promises are (no drugs, no one stays who was coerced to be there), did you have an attendee whose significant other "made" him attend, who wanted to leave, but reluctantly stayed when made a fool of? Did he turn out to be the one wailing the loudest in the exercise where we imagine we are afraid of the person next to us? Did he have a HUGE breakthrough? Did a dyslexic person have a run-in with the leader and get thrown out because she insisted on trying to take notes? I just remembered how she worked the room before the forum began, talking with lots of people so many were stunned when she was escorted out.

Thanks for your contribution.

Hi Corboy and Hope

What you described happened in your forums pretty much the same patteren occurred in mine. There were several males or females that had been "coached" into attending by their partners who had been to Landmark.

I realise that my satirical posting may be slightly contradictory in that while I remained, despite what I had experienced. Its my view to last the distance so that one's knowledge and experiences can be used to educate others to stay away.

Make the admission that I did feign interest by attending post forum seminar but gave up when I realised that there was nothing new being added to what was learnt.

Insultingly repetitious in that it centres on working on possibilites and breakthroughs through the homework that they assign no doubt with the idea in mind that some friend, family or relative is potential recruit.

The title of the seminar series might change but there is no new information or perspectives given its very decieving in my opinion.

The complete lack of note taking or reading materials is a concern as there is no way or time to check the validity or rationality of what they are teaching at the forums. I suspect it is one way of them avoiding liability but not having anything in black and white in case it misfires on them or subjects the organisation to potential legal action.

Was interesting but never to be repeated.

I attended 2 of the Seminar Series, which was described as being an in-depth look at the conversations in the Forum. There was nothing in-depth about it. My series was led by one of the LEC customer service reps-future-leader, who cried about her weight the 2 weeks I attended, apparently learning the cry-on-command skill during the series.

There was absolutely nothing new in the series. There was definitely more advertising. About 50% of the people dropped out of the series. One guy in my group was friends with an LEC volunteer, who also happended to be a psychologist. She told him we were a tough crowd - not enough participation and not enough recruitment

Thanks for the feedback.

Know the feeling about the breaks - you think its some kind of Freudian thing with them?

I have since read an article on how the Landmarkian Borg Collective (LBC) is very efficient in maintaining the appearance of space, tidiness and control methods of participants.

So now we have the:

Borg Course Leader

Ranking - Supreme being
Objective - Remain Supreme Being
Likes - converts to get down on knees and wave arms about chanting "we are not worthy".
Dislikes - participants that asks questions and retain critical thinking and are uncoachable
Favourite food - human minds
Favourite Music - "Its all the same to me" by Billy Ray Cyrus
Favourite Book - "Animal Farm" by George Orwell
Hobby: hanging out with species not assimulated yet

Borg Supervisor Leader
Ranking - Not quite there yet and not likely to be until supreme being dies of natural causes or there is a coup by the collective.
Objective (1) - not to remain Borg Supervisor Leader - tough you need to get those stats up!!
Objective (2) - korerect speelink mushtakes in florum manuel and learn to take breath between words. No one likes someone that talks like a demented teleprinter.
Dislikes - participants that breath or move without permission
Favourite book : Landmarkian Forum manual its the only reading they ever get to look at!
Favourite food : intravenous - does not have time to eat!
Favourite music : "One last Thrill" by Billy Ray Cyrus
Hobby: *syntax error* parameter unknown contact Borg Collective Helpdesk - ring collectively so you all know the number!

Borg Soldiers
Ranking - cannon fodder
Objective - never take "no" for answer
Likes - making phone calls
Dislikes - making phones calls
Objective - has to make phone calls in order to become statistically superior to everyone else. So if there are 10 people in the entire population who all say no what does that make you?
Answer : A volunteer borg soldier!
Favourite book: no time to read has to make phone calls
Favourite music: "Only the lonely" by Roy Orbison and "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus
Hobby: *syntax error* parameter unknown contact Borg Collective Helpdesk - ring collectively so you all know the number!

And we are all borged to death.
