I notice that a lot of people here haven't done any Landmark courses, yet have very strong opinions that 'everything' that Landmark teaches is 'bad'.
I'd suggest that before you completely dismiss the 'teaching', you do the Forum. I'd actually like to do it again myself, but this time looking closely at the way they manipulate people. It would make an interesting research project. I haven't yet worked out how to protect myself from the mind control. I wonder if tin foil wrapped tightly around my head would work?
:D
G'day Mazellan,
I don't think a person needs firsthand experience to have strong opinions. For instance, on the surface, my firsthand experience of Landmark came from attending an Intro Night. I was invited by 'loved' ones and, at first, I was kind of excited to see what the hullabaloo was about. Admittedly, I had already developed a bad taste in my mouth from the hysterical phone calling done by these 'loved' ones, but I was willing to suspend judgement because I valued these 'loved' ones.
Well, I tried to be neutral. Immediately, it just didn't feel right (whatever that means) - I thought I'd landed on Planet Mormon ... all those smiling faces and suits and name tags and regimented order and ...
Anyway, although my firsthand experience was limited, I continue to experience the affect it has on my 'loved' ones. Their new inability to discuss the sorts of things we used to discuss. In many ways my relationship with these 'loved' ones has become estranged. Now, I'm seen as arrogant, self-serving and completely ignorant - because I haven't done the Forum. Give me a break! I don't have to join the army or a political party or an orthodox religion to have a strong view based on observation, reason and a fair dose of common sense.
And I don't think you have to swim into the belly of a whale to know what lurks inside ... there are other, safer methods. Besides, there seem to plenty of honest testimonials floating around to give enough hints to what lurks within Landmark ...
BTW, the tin foil and other paraphenalia would work. I reckon they'd let you through the door and not even mention mental instability. To this kit you'd also have to include a bed pan.
