Progression of an Amygdala Hijack, and how it looks to a casual observer

"I could piss you ALL off in about ten seconds." - Landmark Forum Leader

I found this video of an amygdala hijack, some time ago. The description and step-by-step, detailed explanations seem spot-on. You can ignore the extreme politics, but it shows how manipulators can operate. To someone who didn't see how this progressed, the victim, (Meatloaf), would end up looking like the crazy one. See what you think ~ watch, then read, then watch again.

Now, imagine if Gary Busey tried to step in and "coach" Meatloaf...

...and this is only ONE of their tactics.

Oh my gosh!!! This is exactly what happened to my ex. I witnessed the entire thing when he came home after one of the courses - the advanced one I think.

Honestly he and Meatloaf could have been interchangeable...

I don't know anything about the "stroke" that the writer is talking about in the fourth paragraph of the above-linked article. I can't find any information,  but can only find references to how the amygdala is affected by a physical stroke, and I don't think that's what the writer is referring to. I would deeply appreciate any light that can be shed on this,

The idea of an amygdala stroke does raise a question for me, though.  The writer states that Meatloaf is unlikely to stroke out, because violence is an option for him. Only those for whom violence is NOT an option would "stroke out."

For the participants in the Landmark Forum, violence is not an option. Even yelling and screaming, as Meatloaf does, would not be an option, or would be severely limited. People have been escorted out of the Forum room when their tempers have flared. My recruiter told me that the staff sometimes had to call the police, though I never witnessed that.

My recruiter would get a phone call from someone doing the Forum, and after hanging up, she would gleefully  say, "He's getting really aggravated - he's about to pop!"

So here is my question/theory:
Is this what they mean when they talk about people "popping"? Does it have anything to do with an amygdala hijack in which people "stroke out?"  People are under pressure, sleep deprived, having their amygdala hijacked, and violence is NOT an option.

Is there any physical injury to the amygdala, and how long does it last?

For those who DO react violently, the police would be called. Then the police would write up an incident report, on record,  of their encounter with a seemingly emotionally unstable participant, and the calm, cool, collected Forum leader and staff.

What a load of garbage!

It is all so disturbing. My ex lost it at me when I asked a very simple benign question. His response and reaction was irrational and excessive.

Yet interestingly, two months later after we had seperated and I eventually saw him he remained extremely cool, calm and collected and sat there with his eyes to the ground barely responding.

The hijsck changed everything.

This is interesting. It reminds me of some of the other discussions in the LGATS forum.

That is interesting. I can certainly vouch for the hypersexuality, no fear not risk moderation. The person I know has become rather predatory and does not seem to think there is anything wrong with his actions.

Before I did the forum, I asked questions of my recruiter and her partner. As is usual with L.E. recruiters, they were vague.

They would tell me that it would not change the things that happened in life, but would help me to not be so upset over them.  I was still not convinced that it was worth my time. Her partner then  told me, "It rewires your brain."   I recall thinking that she was talking about a new way of thinking, not an actual, physical change in brain circuitry.

From what I have recently read about the effects of damage to the amygdala,  I am now rethinking that.  It amazes me how much the behaviour patterns of people in LGATS resemble this type of damage:

[teddybrain.wordpress.com]

LGATS are aware of what they are doing.  In the last seminar I attended at L.E.,  the seminar leader stated that the next seminar in the series would involve "brain science," and then spoke about amygdala hijack. She actually acknowledged amygdala hijacking, that time, but, from what I saw,  they do it all the time.

What kind of a "friend" takes it upon themself to decide that you need your brain "rewired"? Before any doctor would undertake to manipulate someone's brain or nervous system, they would explain the procedure, including all possible complications or side-effects, and then obtain signed, informed consent. To do otherwise would cause them the loss of their license,  and even possible jail time.  These people do none of this.  Informed patiens ask questions, but answers at LGATS sign-ups are vague.

What kind of a "friend" wants to wipe out your personality to be written over?  They never disclose the real price of how it will cost you yourself. They never mention any physical or neurological changes, but PTSD has been shown to alter neural pathways, and I strongly suspect that this does, too.  L.E. consent forms  disclose rare psychotic episodes, but never this.

I have lost so much of my personality. I feel mostly numb and emotionless. Like a dead thing.

What these people do is grotesque beyond words.

The person trying to recruit you may have, at one time, been your friend, but they have been altered. You had best cut your losses. Mourn them, if you must, but RUN!!!

Hi kdag,

You are exactly right a boss, colleague, friend, lover, spouse, sibling or parent wouldn’t recruit a loved one into something so insidious, but a brainwashed indoctrinated person - believing they are changing the world would. It is very sad for all involved really.

I sincerely hope in time the numbness subsides.
