Valerie Harper - EST

I listened to a Valerie Harper interview this morning & was surprised when she said more than one time that she's concentrating on Being Here Now. I commend her for dealing with her recent diagnosis any way that she can. It was her particular choice of words that surprised me. The phrase "Be Here Now," was big in the old EST training & may still be popular in Landmark Education, (maybe somebody here knows). I think "Be Here Now" counts as Loaded Language. It's sort of unclear what the speaker means to anyone who hasn't done EST & learned the secret handshake. I sat up when I heard Be Here Now . . . a ghost from the past.

Be Here Now was a part of the landscape in the 1970s.

It became famous as the title of a book by Ram Dass.

But it did become linked to EST as well.

And one can run searches on Google about Valerie Harper and EST. A lot of celebrities got involved with it. Whether they are still invovled means doing further investigation.
