MKP may very well be about money. I have my own suspicions in that regard also. However, my suspicions are relatively normal (for me) - and I can't tell you that MKP IS about money until I SEE (factually) that said funds are going into the pockets of MEN.
I've seen where executive staff is compensated. The compensation levels (to me) are not very signfiicant. If you're going to claim that MKP is about money, show me that the founder gets a cut of very new initiate dollar... Or show me a man on staff that's paid over $100k AND he's in a position to direct those funds into his own pocket... Or show me that a man is living through the corporation - that MKP owns his house, his Porsches, and pays his living expenses daily. No one has shown me evidence of this to date, although I've heard rumors.
In regard to the way a non-profit corporation works:
If you're on the board of a non-profit, your #1 duty is fiduciary duty to the corporation. This is true if you're running an HOA or if you're running an animal shelter. Without funds, whatever you're trying to accomplish with that organization will not get done.
As a board member in a non-profit, I was a voluteer. Some board members get paid, as they should if it takes a large portion of their time. I've solicited for volunteers. I've been solicited by non-profits outside of MKP for my time and for my money. There is an animal rescue that "uses" me regularly! As a board member, I did not solicit for donations (we had a source of income you couldn't opt-out of). If we did not have a solid income base, I'd do what other non-profits do: I'd identify the most likely candidates in regard to producing donations and solicit from those people. Solicitations take time and often cost money, so narrow down your list to make the solicitations effective.
