Without giving this org. any adverse publicity, does anyone know what goes on during its courses, seminars, workshops, etc. Especially what is involved on the 14-day Tourist Programme. Is the org. related to Landmark or MKP?

====================

The Tourist Program

The Tourist Program is a fourteen-day residential self-help therapy program. It provides an ideal environment for people who want to work intensively on themselves in a short period of time, free from their day-to-day responsibilities.

In the program we ascertain your goals and the areas of yourself you would like to develop or clear up. You are encouraged to take an active position in your process, to share what you miss, need and what would be a challenge for you. In this way your therapeutic assignments, which are your personal thread next to the sessions and schedule, have the most value and you can become a self-actualised human being. The leaders have a wealth of experience and ideas to guide you. The Tourist Program can be seen as an in-depth introduction to the work of the Humaniversity; it is a prerequisite to participation in the Student Program and Workers Program. It is highly recommended that you have experienced one of our weekend workshops before you start the Tourist Program.

The program begins with a personal interview with one of the leaders. After successful completion you can immediately join the program.

The Tourist Program is appropriate for those who:

* are looking for self-actualisation. They will find excellent opportunities for self-insight and self-transcendence.

* are looking for an additional education. They will have a direct experience of the many techniques used at the Humaniversity.
want to explore new possibilities and go beyond their own boundaries.

* experience problems with depression, anxiety, loneliness, stress, broken heart, low self-esteem, authority conflicts, sexual difficulties, sleeplessness, relationship problems, feelings of guilt, etc. They gain valuable insights which allows for more conscious decision-making and better choices.

More complex problems, such as phobia, need a longer time to be overcome. For people with eating disorders, such as Bulimia and Anorexia, and people who have problems with substance addiction, there is a special Addiction Foundation Program. This program is a minimum three months up to two years, and it begins with a one-month Tourist Program. The program is individually supervised.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM

The aim of all activities in the program is increasing self insight, self-acceptance, and stimulating life energy and friendship. You will learn that you are not alone with your problems and that life has more to offer than just 'the problem'. You learn to take the responsibility for your life into your own hands again, to go beyond your usual limits and come to more fulfilment in your life.

A TYPICAL DAY IN THE PROGRAM

The program takes place within the community setting of the Humaniversity. It is highly structured and aims at keeping the participants as active as possible. A daily schedule can look like this:

Wake up is early, with an active morning meditation. Before the first group session in the morning there is house cleaning. After lunch there is time for a beach walk, followed by a second group session. After tea in the afternoon there is a 'mood report', a sharing session with one or more of the therapists, followed by a third group session. After dinner there is an evening class followed by a happy time in the Boozeria, our famous bar-disco, where you can dance till early in the morning. Alternatively, some days end with sauna and massage, or a capucino or snack in our coffee shop, with video.

It is an almost 'around-the-clock' schedule that can change from day to day and sometimes more than once a day, to optimally meet the specific needs of the participants. The participants of the Tourist Program form a family within the support system of the Humaniversity Community. Living and working together intensely will bring up a lot of feelings and emotions, which can be worked out in the sessions. At the end of the day, you go 'home' to your open plan dormitory with attached private room for special needs. By living communally, instead of behind closed doors, you will get to know each other very quickly and learn the most about yourself in the shortest time.

THE THERAPEUTIC TECHNIQUES

EMOTIONAL HEALING: Emotional awareness and the ability to express any of the four basic emotions, fear, anger, pain and love, are essential to mental health. Emotional work forms a large part of the program. A technique that is very often used is Flushing, an innovation by Veeresh. It combines elements of Bonding, Primal Scream, Free Association and Sharing. Catharsis, releasing repressed emotions, creates clarity and strength in the here and now. Insight into your emotional defence mechanisms can lead you to a positive and lasting change in your life, and you can experience love again as the deepest of the four basic emotions.

ENCOUNTER: In the philosophy of the Humaniversity, encounter is the necessary backbone of any community. Encounter literally means 'meeting'. In the Encounter sessions you are encouraged to openly express your irrational feelings towards each other, always with the aim to come closer and to clear the way for love and friendship.

BODYWORK: Physical energy and emotional energy are very closely connected. By working on the muscular tensions of the body 'armour', emotional blocks are released. The aim of bodywork is to give you a solid and emotionally balanced grounding in the here and now. A very simple and joyful form of bodywork is dance, which is used as warm-up for the sessions.

MARTIAL ARTS: The Humaniversity has developed its own Martial Arts style, called Osho-Do, which derives techniques from various traditional schools, without the competitive aspect. Osho-Do enhances centring, balance and a positive sense of self-esteem. Part of Osho-Do is the Street Awareness Program (SAP), a simple and highly effective system of self-defence. The Humaniversity has a large Dojo where next to Osho-Do and SAP, Tai Chi and Archery are practised.

SEXUALITY AND SENSITIVITY: In the unique environment of the Humaniversity you can safely explore your sexuality. A lot of attention is given to awareness around this delicate subject. The emphasis is always on relating, friendship and responsible hygiene.

SOCIODRAMA, ROLE PLAYING: You get a new name for the two weeks that you are here. The names serve to emphasise a certain aspect of your personality, and can change more than once in the course of the program. The purpose is to make you more aware of yourself and to come to greater self-acceptance. For instance, somebody who is always 'nice' could get a name that helps him to get in touch with his anger. Somebody with a very low self-esteem could get a name that reinforces his feeling of self-worth, like 'I Am Beautiful' or 'Turn On'. You will get the assignment to dress up for a certain role. We have a big collection of theatre clothing available. All at once you realise new modes of behaviour, which can lead to new emotional insights and greater self-awareness. For example, somebody who is very depressed could get the assignment to dress up as a clown and entertain everybody, and realise that standing in front of an audience is not as frightening an experience as he thought. This new sensory feedback may lead to a new impulse in helping to change his mood.

SOCIAL MEDITATION: Meditation is entering western consciousness and is slowly becoming an accepted part of our culture. The Humaniversity draws from different traditional (eastern) sources. It has demystified and integrated them into the therapeutic process. The emphasis is on active and interactive (social) meditation techniques. Social Meditation is an innovation by Veeresh. Instead of meditating by yourself, you do it in intensive and interactive contact with other people, who become mirrors in which you can see yourself clearly. The best known social meditation is the AUM Meditation, which leads the participants through an intense experience of twelve aspects of human nature: hatred, love, stamina, life energy, chaos, dance, tears, laughter, sensuality, chanting, silence and respect. The whole structure lasts two-and-a half-hours.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION: Creativity is an important part of the program, in the form of drawing, painting and performing theatre shows. Creating, rehearsing and performing a theatre show as a group enhances the skill of team building, and it encourages spontaneity and playfulness, as you are joyfully immersed in the creative process.

HUGGING: Hugging is one of the basic techniques used in the Humaniversity. You may get the assignment to give a hundred hugs per day. This strengthens the feeling of being loved and accepted by the people around you. It has been scientifically proven that physical touch is one of the basic and widely neglected needs of a human being.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH VEERESH: you have the opportunity to meet Veeresh in an informal and relaxed setting, and talk about your problems, share your experiences and ask questions. Veeresh will share his unique life experience, his wisdom and his caring humanity.

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS: As part of the Tourist Program you join two weekend workshops. In these workshops you will be part of a different group of people and with different group leaders. This will give a fresh input to your process.

SHARING SESSIONS: Every day there is a group sharing session with one or more of the therapists about your progress or insights. Next to these 'mood reports' there is always the possibility for individual counselling.

At the end of the program people experience a feeling of well being, increased vitality, and a strong sense of connectedness with the surrounding world. Many people have stated that the Tourist Program was a positive turning point in their lives. They have shifted their horizon, widened their view and acquired new possibilities and choices for successful and fulfilling relating.

I may be wrong, but I believe this is an extension of the Bhagwan Sri Rajneesh cult, headquartered in Pune, India.

I just checked the web sites listed. This is definitely a program operated by the Bhagwan Sri Rajneesh cult (Osho). It looks like a expanded iteration of their "Path of Love" intensive or seminar, similar to one operated by the "Miracle of Love" cult.

These seminars would be more powerful than the 3 day Landmark program "The Forum". I have experience with all three. The Forum was what I used to call "Cult lite", but please don't let that description fool you into thinking the Landmark Program is harmless. It is not. Avoid them all.

Rajneesh

An object of media fascination and horror, Rajneesh is known for his bizarre revelations on sex. He has constructed a vision of the New Man that repudiates all prior norms and traditions. Man, by Rajneesh’s thinking, is the hedonist-god, fully autonomous (barring the inner voice of Rajneesh), and free to carve out the cosmos in his own image. He is the sovereign pleasure seeker, self-transcender, who owes nobody anything. The family is anathema, children extra trash. And so long as the Neo-sannyasin has the money the fun ride continues. Afterward, however, he or she is usually a non-functional casualty. Homicides, rapes, mysterious disappearances, threats, fires, explosions, abandoned ashram children now begging in Poona’s streets, drug busts — all done by those amazing hybrids in red who believe they are pioneering new and daring redefinitions of the word “love.”

Christians working in a Poona asylum confirm such accounts, adding the breakdown rate is so high the ashram has wielded political power to suppress reports.2

Info about Rajneesh'ism can be found at:

OshoLeela (interesting combinatio of names) also have a web site - offshoot - in the UK at:

In fact Osho seems to be a HUGE publishing corporation - apparently all this developing from the weird sexual beliefs of an Indian Cult which includes the abuse of minors and the poisoning of 750 Americans to try and win a loca US election.
