There are several marketing companies, usually the type that trains people in cold market sales (door to door), using practices similar to cults.

Group attitude enhancement rallies everyday before hitting the streets, loaded languages and the sort.

A friend worked for a company called Excell Advertisements. They were a door to door promotional sales team. They would go through neighborhoods attempting to sell promotional incentives. Basically they would get entertainment/recreational businesses like restaurants and ski resorts, to sell promotional package deals. The business itself is legit and they dont engage in questionable selling tactics etc. however the culture of the company itself is suspect. They engage in practices that fit some of the criteria for a thought reform program but are not totally cult like.
