I have seen some forums where the admin can mark a post "irrelevant" and that hides the post so that a long page-gobbling spam will not cause people to fail to read the rest of the thread. But if they are curious they can click and see the offending post.

If you had this ability here and allowed others to report/request this mark on a post, then you would not have to spend any time trying to take sides in a dispute or evaluate the level, because it can be a quick and painless decision to mark a post this way.

Just a thought, since I do believe some people are sophisitcated enough to recognize that a messed-up first page can render a thread readerless pretty easily.
