And it's acceptable to YOU that Johnnie Mac claims you can take the mark of the Beast and STILL be saved, and that he profanes the precious blood of Christ, calling it a "metaphor" of His death???

I agree with the poster who actually said my post was "anecdotal hodge podge"...in that he (I assume he) said the accusations and comparisons of John MacArthur were WAY off base! That said, what this poster called "hodge podge" can really hurt people and damage their lives and this is taking place with the "story of Jane" TMC is facing from those who are NOT turning the other way!

We are talking about something Jesus took VERY seriously, heart attitude! It is very concerning when one wipes out specific details as "hodge podge"...what does that heart attitude reflect? Could that heart attitude lead one in leadership to sit a young woman who was raped in the same room as her rapist? It is this type of insensitivity that does doe violate the "law of the land" but it does reveal great insensitivity and a "Pharisaical" comparison that should trouble any "Christian"

It is THIS heart attitude that most of these posts are communicating in various stories over and over! This heart attitude that gets shoved under the carpet revealing troubling concerns and thinking/teaching that would allow this hypocrisy! That is worth unpacking and confronting.

There is a VERY simple test in life: it is called REACTION--how one reacts to a situation reveals the truth of their beliefs and heart/mind. This is part of our sinful condition...on "paper" we can believe the Pharisee is way off base, the Pharisee who wanted to KILL Jesus...and then in action, we represent the Pharisee more than the very Lord we say we worship and serve/follow...and when confronted do we repent? NO...we attack, minimize, reduce to stay in control...but in control of WHAT? Ahhhh...that is scary! Could it be we are not really who we think we are?

Trust me here...truth is truth! When you look beneath surface of the lives of these people, you will see VERY controlling and manipulating behavior in the family and surrounding family members. There are A LOT of secrets! They have to have secrets to keep things under control...but, we are only as sick as our secrets!

Sorry...the head (IQ) and the heart can have HUGE gaps between the two. Grace is a very high IQ church...for a while it looks fabulous...but once you get inside, there is a "boy's club" mentality and you better not upset the cart...if you do, arrows are thrown and the serious sin of covering up takes place reveals troubling heart attitudes...and dare I say this, to keep the EMPIRE rolling forward! John MacArthur has become an empire of publishing royalties and a massive amount of product in books, DVD's, videos, Bibles, etc
Follow the money trails and very disturbing things rise to surface...

The entire story is summed in the movie The Bridge on the River Kwai...you will have to seek out what I mean if you dare to look!

Ok. I have a long history of dealings with very a very similar church and worked with a couple of it’s members. I need to understand this topic better at this point and if anyone can email me more reading material that would be great.
A church were I used to live would go door to door telling anyone that rejected their message that they were going to hell. The message they presented was biblical. However, after some time it became apparent they were a cult after several discussions with the church members. That is a long story and not the point of this message. But, noteworthy to those events, they did quote MacArthur a lot and gave me one of his books. I’m not the guy who is easily convinced. So, because I knew they were a cult, I never read the book and eventually threw it in the trash. Moving to today, I just moved to Santa Clarita. I specifically did not want to go to Grace because they rudely did not allow me to park our moving van in their parking lot while my wife, three kids (with infant), motherinlaw, and I were looking for an apartment. There is more story about that but that too isn’t important. What is important is that I do not want to go to a Calvinistic church and do not want to go to Grace.
So I looked up a certain denomination on Google and found a church to visit. The people are amazing, loving, welcoming, everything you dream of. But, I have never felt fed or fulfilled. Sunday’s are a time of simply reading text from the Bible with very little application. My questions are always unanswered, specifically questions related to Calvinism. I have no idea what they actually believe other than some basic standard comments. Those comments by members have never led me to conclude what is described here however.
This church has leaders who came from Grace throughout. They do reference MacArthur a lot. They are very spiteful of the Southern Baptists. They hold Master’s College and MacArthur to an odd high regard. They are very similar to what has been described here but different at the same time.
I need some help wrapping my brain around this one. Better yet, does anyone know of a church that isn’t Calvinistic? I would love to talk with their pastor.

For those of us who are survivors of John MacArthur's The Master's University and Seminary, now is the time to act! Master's has been placed on accreditation probation by WASC. (See documents listed under Commission Actions: wscuc.org/institutions/masters-university-and-seminary ). This is a tremendous blow to the credibility of the school and John MacArthur. The school has been cited for shady financial dealings (some involving MacArthur's son in law), a culture of fear and intimidation, questionable academic practices, an ineffective board full of MacArthur's yes men, and other issues.

Those of us who were students saw that culture of fear and intimidation through the bullying tactics encouraged and commanded by the Student Life Department and enforced by SLS. Were you constantly confronted for your perceived sins, for the "appearance of evil"? Were you put under the microscope? Did you report sexual harassment, misconduct, or crimes to Student Life and have your case mishandled? Did you report issues of a non-sexual nature and have your case mishandled? Were you branded a liar or "in sin" when you "rebelled" against their authority?

You no longer have to remain silent. You have many avenues to let your voice be heard:

1) WASC is always taking Complaints and Third Party Comments. Fill out the following form and email to wscuc@wscuc.org and thawley@wscuc.org. You can choose to remain ANONYMOUS. You do not have to provide proof. Even if WASC does nothing, your comments will remain in the school's file to be dredged up every time WASC reviews the school. At the very least, it will give future WASC teams an idea of what red flags to watch for.

2) If you were harassed by Student Life and SLS, you may have a Clery Act violation, ESPECIALLY if you were harassed regarding sexual issues. This is NOT limited to just mishandled rape and sexual misconduct cases. This includes harassment over sexual orientation (Master's can believe what they want, Master's can expel you, but Master's cannot harass you), gender norms (i.e. girls shouldn't like violent movies and video games, girls shouldn't wear pants, men shouldn't be administrative assistants, etc), sexual health preferences (i.e. tampons, birth control, hormone treatments, etc), and body autonomy (i.e. what toiletries you use, what you eat, when you sleep, what clothes you wear, how you style your hair, choices you make for your body, etc). If you are not sure, contact the U.S. Department of Education. The Philadelphia School Participation Team of the U.S. Department of Education has the primary responsibility for overseeing Clery Act compliance by institutions. If you are interested in pursuing your complaint further, you can contact Jim Moore at 215-656-8542 or clerycomplaints@ed.gov. Complaints can be made ANONYMOUSLY. You do not need to provide proof to start an investigation.

3) If you would like to be part of a potential lawsuit against Master's, contact Owen Patterson Owen. Staycee Gordon is the primary person to contact to tell your story. The firm is looking for victims or witnesses of mishandled rape and sexual abuse cases, cases of harassment by Student Life/SLS and administration, and unlawful termination and hostile work environment for employees, etc. Call 661-799-3399 or email staycee@owenpatterson.com. You do not need proof at this stage. Your story may be all that is required for corroboration. The law firm is only at the information gathering stage. You do not have to make any huge decisions, you are not committing yourself to doing anything by just giving them a call and talking.

I wanted to tell you my experience with a Church not too far from MacArthur's that I attended for about six months as a non-member. I only went because I had to work late Saturday nights and the Church had an evening service where they taught OT scripture.

When I went it was a very hard time for me because I was recovering from a nervous break down from abuse at work, from family and my own behavior. I became a Christian in 2005 when in college. I wanted to learn the entire Bible so I read the entire Bible multiple times yearly and spent many hours studying various theology on my own. I bought MacArthur's study Bible and thought his Church might be the place for me.

When I went to this satellite Church run by a graduate of Master's Seminary, I thought it might be a good place for me to find help for my problems. I told the assistant pastor what I was going through hoping to find help or information to help myself. He didn't even offer me a book or anything. He just backed me up against a wall and listened to me silently and didn't give me a response. It was very weird and unloving.

The sermons at this Church were so dull. I always felt half asleep, even though the sound system was so loud most people were sitting a few rows back from the front row to adjust to it.

I enjoyed the traditional hymns, the praying and some of the sermons.

Some weird things happened when I was there. One new guy was all excited to be in the Church. Then a few weeks later he crashed his car and came in with a cast on his neck. Another young Church member around my age ended up in the hospital because he got canker sores all in his throat for some reason. Also, I thought it was very strange because I was one of the only younger people in the Church, mostly it was elderly people.

I always felt like an outcast in that Church, like I wasn't wanted there. Unless you were a member you were nothing it seemed. I never joined because I wasn't sure about the place and may have had to stop going if I had to work on Sunday.

One of the guys at the Church mentioned he might invite me over to his house for a BBQ. I remember he asked me something and I declined and he got emotional on me saying "Oh that's really Christian of you." That guy seemed to be a nervous wreck.

Also, I'm not sure but I think I may have been getting stalked by a few of the elderly members. I mentioned to them where I worked during a Church service. Then a month later I remember being at my work in the parking lot and seeing both of them in a car driving through the parking lot. The assistant pastor lives near me and I kept seeing him ride his bike home past me when I went to my car. I ran into him walking outside one time too.

Another way I found out about MacArthur was through one of his associate pastor's Fred Butler. When I was studying KJV Onlyism I came across Butler's website. I messaged Butler to ask about why MacArthur makes $300,000-400,000 salary a year. Butler got upset with me and blocked my email. I told him to enjoy his caviar with MacArthur in their ivory tower. Butler claimed MacArthur isn't making anything near the TBN pastors, but I looked into it and many of the make the same as MacArthur.

That's one of the things that opened my eyes to these pastors. Look at their IRS statements and see what they do with the money. Most of the money Grace Church makes stays in the Church. The salaries these pastors and their assistants make is more than most people make after years of experience and a college degree, even in the STEM fields.

The arrogance of some of that pastors associated with MacArthur was a real turn off for me too. Don Green comes to mind. Green was saying he was going to become a lawyer for the money, but then he became a pastor. Well now Green is making about $200,000 a GTY and that's probably more than most lawyers make and more than he would have made as a lawyer. Green said in one of his sermons "Is it really that hard to stop looking at porn?" in a very condescending tone to shame the men in his congregation. This just shows how out of touch he is with people and their mental disabilities.

I think the nouthetic counseling I heard about is very disturbing. While I agree with MacArthur that psychology isn't to be trusted, I don't agree that he's the alternative to it. It's doubtful I would have survived at that satellite Church. The nouthetic counseling would have hurt me bad.

I went to a University of California. If I had an environment of spying, WOW counselors and stuff like that I would have hated it. The Master's Seminary sounds horrible.

The article about MacArthur's museum is full of false humility too. If MacArthur didn't want that "presidential library" of himself all he had to do was tell them to take it down, because it's not about him, it's about Jesus. But he didn't do that so I can see how some would say he built it to himself. After all he's the president, so how could they build that without him being aware.

I still have the MacArthur study Bible. I've read every not in it more than once. The Lordship salvation isn't the Gospel. We know a person can't truly repent and submit to Jesus as Lord BEFORE being saved. If they did it would be completely worthless, hypocritical or fake. The OT notes are full of guilt trips too. The book of Jonah is the worst. MacArthur actually says that Jonah was right to want to off himself because he disobeyed God. How sick is that? Then MacArthur wants to claim that God abandons sinners to their sin is a Biblical Principle. He tries to use this against Christians who sin. That's so wrong because Jesus said he'll never leave or forsake Christians. MacArthur loves to twist the principle of sowing and reaping to mean God's going to pay you back for sin, maybe 20 years later. That's what he said about Joseph's brothers in his notes. Then MacArthur says that Moses was into sports in his Exodus notes. What does that have to do with teaching the Bible?

I remember listening to a few MacArthur sermons where you could see his pride coming out big time. In one sermon he tells a story where he's getting bullied in middle school. So he invites an adult college football player over to beat up the bully. Then MacArthur says he got out of going to Vietnam because of a football injury. MacArthur says that food ball can be like war though. How arrogant is that? Then I read someone said MacArthur has Washington Redskin try outs? How did he manage that if he was too disabled to go to Vietnam?

These are just a few of my observations and opinions from my experience. Thankfully I got away from that satellite Church and found some good information on this site. Thanks all.

A few more things I just remembered that happened at the John MacArthur satellite Church were:

When I was walking into Church a guy's wife got really angry and started yelling at him saying "You always do this!" I've never seen a fight before in front of a Church.

During one of the sermons a the pastor made a veiled threat to the children there. He told a story where one of the children in his last Church was found dead in the desert and the murderer wasn't found. This was a sermon on obedience. He said he really liked that hat that says "OBEY".

Also, I ended up getting a canker sore problem for about a year around the time I attended that church. I'm not sure what caused it but I was able to cure it after I left by doing Scottish showers. And I had a weird temptation problem that seems to have started around the time I attended that Church. It took a lot of time to deal with it.

One of the Church couples went on a mission trip and it appears all they really did was go on a European vacation. They just drove around the country and stayed at some guys home. I think they attended the foreign Church as representatives.

They had some guy who had a lot of kids they kept praying for because he couldn't find a job. He was into IT I think and it must have been humiliating since they prayed every service about it.

One of the members asked for prayer to be respected at his work for his job position.
