greyflower:

Since you have been around for 10 years maybe you can answer a couple of questions.

Does the general membership of your congregation democratically elect a church board to oversee its affairs?

Is there an independently audited financial statement that is published and distributed to all members that tithe, which details any and all salaries, compensation and expenses paid out of church funds?

Yes... members elect a board to oversee church functions. There have also been times when the pastor will pick out a person of PROOVEN good character to add and we will have a discussion (members only) and elect that person. These are all men that the members trust and know personally...
Yes... a detailed report is available, when asked of finances. But most of our pastors don't receive a salary... only when we become large enough to help support our pastor.... with a larger church, the pastor would like to have more time to devote in prayer and study and counseling... stuff like that. But if the money is not coming in, than they do not receive one, and I've never known one of our pastors to have an outrageous salary... like TNN and other stories you hear.

Which is it?

Does the pastor "pick out" the board or must they always be democratically nominated and then elected by the general church membership?

Explain the election process.

How does someone become a candidate?

Is there a secret ballot?

Are there multiple candidates running for the same position?

How often do board elections take place?

Is there a church constitution with bylaws that specify all the rules regarding nominations and elections in detail?

You say,

.

Have you ever asked to see one?

If so what details did it disclose, which you saw and have you ever known of a financial report that disclosed all salaries and compensation that was ever published and distributed to everyone at the church?

Is there ever an audit of the church finances?

Has there ever been a an independently audited financial report published by any church within the fellowship that you have seen?

Hi Hawk, Yes I know an extensive amount of connection between potters house and praise chapel,,,The current leader of praise chapel as you know is donna neville, and mikes brother larry, larry was a huge leadership force right under mitchell, our church in kingman arizona, held the dubious distintion of being a potters house and a praise chapel, we took over the four square church while the pastor of kingman allen cates was pastoring under both mike neville and waymon mitchell,,,The abuse of potters house and praise chapel is just alike, I was pastoring a praise chapel when the news came of the split between potters house and praise chapel...before that, neville and mitchell were thick as thieves.....

BTW the slam the door association on the internet is a group of former potter's house pastors and former members...It is a good site for info on potters house,,And just a side note,,A lot of former potters house pastors, now pastor with praise chapel...After all they really are one and the same..
