Here we go again! The great defender of the faith(Pastor Mike Villamor)has invited guest speaker false prosperity teacher Bob Harrison for February 15th service on how to Recession Proof your finances. I looked his name up on Doctrinetalk.com, and as far as I can see so far he is a give me your money so I can get rich artist. He makes his millions selling tapes and CD's, and people pay big money to go to his seminars. He has connections with (Business) City Church and Market Place Ministry. I sounds to me like he got his start as a crooked used car salesman. Matt. 7:15 Watch out for false prophets, they will come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Life Application reference for verse 15 is: Jesus says to beware of those whose words sound religious, but are motivated by money, fame or power. You can tell who they are because in their teaching, they minimize Christ and glorify themselves. Tim. 2 4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine, instead to suit their own desires they will gather around them a great number of teacher to say what their itching ears want to hear (Tony Cunningham, Wendell Smith, helicopter guy Casey Treat, Bob Harrison, and the Ralston's, etc.).

Buddy,

Is this the Bob Harrison who will be speaking?

I don't think he does speaking engagements for free. I wonder why they're drumming up so many prosperity, increase, positive confession, etc., teachers. I wonder if they're needing to inspire the congregation to give more because Mike and Jeff are waaaay under their houses/mortgages? They bought their fancy homes when the market was at its breaking point, and at that time, they told everyone who inquired that they had purchased the houses as an investment so they could give back to "the kingdom work." Well, they won't be selling at or above market value for a loooong while yet. And with the recession, I'm wondering if people aren't giving as much. What happens if Mike and Jeff cannot maintain their (undisclosed) salaries? It would make human sense to call in the "big guns"--the guys who know how to inspire people to give (usually with some promise that those who give will receive a return on their "seed money" or "seed of faith" invested/sown into the kingdom).

Keep your wallets at home, Turning Point, as long as these charlatans are in town. God once asked Job, "What has anyone ever given me that I should pay him back?" (The answer is rhetorical, so you don't need to look it up.) God doesn't need (or necessarily want) our "seed money." We should give from pure motives of love, with a cheerful heart, not because we think we might get something down the road. God does bless us in His own ways, for His own reasons, but don't fall into the word-faith movement's twisted views of our relationship to God. GOD WILL NEVER BE OBLIGED TO US.

The false teachers speak with smooth arguments. Where they go off track is almost undetectable because they do so using (misusing, that is) scripture. And they do so deftly. Take time to research what sound doctrine websites say about these teachers. "Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Thanks for the heads up, Buddy!

Hello All!!

I can say out of experience, that at one time TP did practice spirtual parenting, and have known kids who rejected their own parents for their "spirtual parents."
They might not do it anymore but they did, and if they say they never did, is just a lie.
They were VERY connected with Tony Cunningham up till recently, (im guessing when his church started to fall apart they say they aren't connected)
I went on Summer Tour 2004 with Turning Point One Eighty Youth Group and went to Radiant Life Church, where we stayed at someones house who attended that church. We went to SOMA for a class where Tony taught. We put on evangelistic concerts and what not on Radiant Life Church property.. They were VERY VERY connected with the church.
Has anyone heard about The CCD? (The Counter Culture Approach to Dating) (which ended in about 2006? when they realized there was NO way it would work..) Pretty much you were supposed to get engaged to someone without dating them, and then get married. no dates, no hanging out without anyone else around, nothing. TONS of teens did it while I was in highschool, and pretty much reuined a lot of peoples lifes.

I agree that Pastor David Luster is the best one out there. He always has been, I pray that TP Skagit Valley does not turn out like Turning Point Marysville.

I also hear they are planting a church in Oregon, very soon. (this month)

Don't know if I helped at all by writing this, but I have a lot more to say, will write when I can remember. (i stopped attending in 2006, not because of Turning Point, but because of the Youth Group, absolute abandonment)

Welcome, 180reject!

Wow! Can you tell us what happened with the abandonment? I'm sorry that happened to you.

I'm glad you found the site here. Kind of helps to know you're not REALLY alone, and that you're not crazy. Huh?

I DO remember hearing about the CCD approach to relationships. I didn't realize there were people who actually went so far as to marry through that approach. Yikes! Were there very many couples? What happened to the ones who ended up getting married? Do they have supportive people around them (family)?

I hope you will keep posting here.

TPR asked me to write why my wife and I left Turning Point....

...It has been 2 and a half years since we left. It was very tough emotionally especially since our sons stayed. I wrote out some criteria to evaluate objectively what I expected would happen if Mike was leading the church in an authoritarian direction and what did happen.

Let me know if anyone would like me to write that.

M&M, I was going back through this thread, and I was wondering if you'd still be willing to write about this. Would you?

An elder and pastor has resigned from TP.

I hope to elaborate in the future.

It is in many ways a sad day but it is also good. They have shown great courage and a willingness to be honest when honesty is not treasured.

yes yes! i hear tomorrow is the last day for her. I am very proud she has stepped up and said she didnt agree with the vision TP is going towards!!!!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!

Well, I would totally tell you what happened exactly if i didnt already know that people from Turning Point DO read this, and i know they would know who i was. So if you would like to know, please message me and i can get further into it. I'm not sure if anyone actually did get married.. but i know they courted, or got engaged and then after a month or less or more, figured out that person wasnt the person they were supposed to be there. therefore making it very awkward now that all of them are married to different people after making the mistake of dating everyone in the youth group! hahhaha.

and a pastor/elder is resigning tomorrow because she didnt want to follow the vision turning point was pointing towards! AMEN!!

180 Reject,

Welcome to the thread. We hope you will find support and encouragement here. You have an important story to share.

Regarding the resignation of the pastor and elder: Anytime an Elder/Pastor resigns it is significant in the life of a church. This elder's resignation will be interpreted by the other leaders and, possibly, it may be spun. It is important to pray for the Elder and their family. They are going to experience grief, loneliness; there will be times when they may wonder if they made the right decision. No doubt there will be external pressure to "return to the fold". Please keep this elder in your prayers.

I do not know if the elder will ever post here on the forum. But it is important that we refrain from attempts to interpret the elder's actions. Only that elder can truly speak for themselves and their reasons for resigning. We welcome any comments the elder would bring to this forum and support the elder's right to speak on their own behalf.

In regards to David Luster: I do not know David and cannot speak to his character. Having said that, it must also be said that until David, himself, publicly rejects the errant teachings associated with Turning Point/RLc/New Apostolic Reformation then one can only conclude that he does support, believe and teaches these same errant teachings. The student becomes like the teacher. The DNA runs deep. One only has to look at how Tony, himself, has affected (or infected) Mike. If David has willing sat at the feet of Tony when Tony came to teach multiple times at TPc then what other conclusion can draw. If David Luster is dismissing the comments on this site from former RLc and TPc members as nit picking or gossip or slander then what else can one conclude.

In regards to the fence mending going on at TPc: Genuine fence mending consists of confession, repentance, and forgiveness. Without these then fence mending is just Damage Control in disguise. Confession is acknowledging wrong that has been committed, the hurt that has resulted, and the plan of remedy. Repentance is the conscience choice to turn from the old way and go a new way; forgiveness is to acknowledge the previous and to cancel the debt of the perpetrator.

So for those of you currently attending TPc and reading this forum ask yourself this question: Is this genuine fence mending by Mike or is it damage control? Has he admitted his wrong doing, acknowledged the hurt and destruction caused by his behavior, and turned and moving in a new direction? Or is he moving in the same direction with new mentors of the same old false teachings. Pride is a deadly sin and it can be difficult to bring under submission. Lets continue to pray for TPc, Mike and Cyndi, the remaining Elders and staff, and those who continue to sit under these false and harmful teachings.

Turning Point Bulletin: MEN'S MINISTRY GUEST SPEAKER PASTER MIKE VILLAMOR
Men of TPC you don't want to miss this men's ministry this month! Come on Saturday January 24 (one week early) for breakfast , worship, and the Word from Pastor Mike Villamor! You won't want to miss hearing what God has put on his heart for YOU over the last few months!

A Morning with Pastor Mike: I arrived early to make sure I would get a good seat. I figured it would be pretty crowded, well you know what I mean, we haven't received any prophetic revelations from our Apostle Mike for over four long months. I mean the river whas dry. The warriors started to show up one by one for there breakfast, the anticipation and excitement was in the air, you could feel it. Fellowship abound and the smell of breakfast was in the air. I felt like I was waiting at the bottom of the mountain for Moses to come back down. One great warrior traveled 82 miles to see Pastor Mike speak and maybe touch him. Suddenly the smoke and fire cleared and one of the men's leaders gave a serious, stern welcome to the group, because after all we are warriors. After all the men finished with the bondage, I mean bonding. It was time, you could sense the excitement. Then out of now where he appeared, Paster Mike the chosen one strutted in like King Tut. If only I could touch him or maybe he would look at me. I could hardly hold on to my emotions. Finally, the chosen one spoke. After Mike gave a brief hello, how are you doing, I've been real busy, haven't gotten much sleep, the heavens opened and the music started to play. You could hear the angels singing, except they were all men. After us men finished our singing the moment we had been waiting for arrived. The great apostle Mike was goin to give us the message of what God has put on his heart for us over the last four months. I mean that's what sabbaticals are for, right? Finally, it was going to happen, Mike runs to the front, but wait he seems to have a stranger holding his hand ( well it looked like it anyway ) it was the old bait and switch. Mike the great defender of the flock gave the pulpit over to some nut case preacher he picked up on thd side of the road or was it at IHOP? Anyway, the disappointment was in the air, we had been let down by our commandor and chief. I guess four months was not enought time to prepare a sermon. The pastor found on the side of the road gave a prophetic message about a vision he had about Mike and him after some raccoons ran in the of their SUV. The nut case preacher rambled on for an hour and I guess he forgot his Bible. After the prophetic message about nothing he prayed for the anointing upon the warriors, then pastor Mike joined in prayed and asked us to give cash or check to the preacher found on the side of the road. The moment was one I will alway cherish and it will always inspire me next time a raccoon (would a possum work?) crosses my path. I will never forget: A morning with Pastor Mike!

So sorry to hear about pastor Jackie. She was so kind and loving to me and my family. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t mention her resignation today. I saw her in the front row worshiping today and our hearts went out to her. Her sincerity will be an ingredient missed at Turning Point. If she resigned, there must be a very good reason. I hope to call her and ask. In the children’s dept, they said goodbye to her husband. He is a teacher and the drummer. My kids were heartbroken because they really liked him, and they don’t understand. What do you say? We made our decision and will be looking for another church, especially after today’s sermon on sex. It was so inappropriate and unfortunate for all the single and young people. What in the world has the church come to?
