I don't see a subforum that matches this topic well, so I tried to pick what might be closest.

I was following some links on this site, and I came upon this:

I would love to get my hands on a copy of that 48 hours broadcast. Anyone got any ideas on if its available anywhere, or where to look?

Contact CBS in New York.

Here is how this went.

Short story: $75.00 plus $25.00 for shipping, only requests to US addresses are accepted.

Long story for anyone who wants to do something like this in the future:

After I emailed the normal department I found on their website, cbsstore@ordering.com, I got this reply:

-------------------------------
Thank you for contacting the CBS Store.

Our inventory of programs goes back only as far as April of 1990. For
a news segment prior to that date, please contact the CBS Archives
Department through one of the methods below:

- At the website go to the "Feedback" section at the bottom our home
page and using the subject: ARCHIVES
- Call the following number: 212-975-3247 (Mon.- Fri. - 10-11:30AM or
2-3:30PM)
- Write to the following address:

CBS - ATTN: ARCHIVES
524 WEST 57TH
NEW YORK, NY 10019

Please include the date and/or title of the program, or a description
of the subject matter discussed within the segment you are looking to
obtain.
--------------------------------------

When I called the number listed during one of the specified times, I got an answering machine that told me to email or FAX my request in. Email: cbs@bbc.co.uk.

When I sent an email there, someone eventually replied to the email with the details on having correctly located what I wanted, how much money, etc.

I don't see myself ordering it from CBS for $100.00 :( It would have been very interesting and intriguing to get to see, but that price seems unfair. Not to mention, I know that shipping something like that within the United States does not cost $25.00.

This is actually not that expensive.

I was once charged over $200.00 for a 5 minute news clip from a service.

It takes time to locate, duplicate and process for mailing.

It's nice to know that the material is still available.

Ask around on related subject matter boards and email lists... you might be able to arrange to borrow it from someone who already has a copy.

Or maybe you could find some other interested people to split the cost, and make copies for each other,
