Museum to the Great John MacArthur

Hi BHeart,

The theology JM espouses is that we are saved by:
Faith + Works = Salvation
This is basically catholic theology

Protestant theology is:
Faith Alone = Salvation, period.
and FREE WILL good
works for the joy of our salvation.

But the TACTICS of JM churches is not only that you must
have "good works", but they are going to make darn sure
you are following JM UNILATERAL EXTRABIBLICAL DEFINITION
of what good works are, by spying, gossiping, backbiting, shaming
whatever it takes to fit you into JMs idea of a Christian.

IF YOU DON'T ACCEPT THIS VERY NARROW AND EVIL
"subjugation" and complain or leave, YOU ARE LABELED
A WOLF WHO LOST HIS/HER SALVATION OR WERE NEVER SAVED
TO BEGIN WITH!

This is what we have experienced and have seen
with our own
eyes and have been subjected to.

I hope that clears things up for you,

Very Truly Yours,
GTW?

Yep, they gave him his own museum. Who cares? They wanted to honor a man who has studied and served his guts out for 25 years. Honor. It's a foreign concept to Americans now, but it didn't used to be. We used to honor people who served us faithfully. Now we tear apart every detail of their life and ministry anonymously on the internet with no consequence to us -- or at least no immediate consequence to us on this side of eternity...

JungleJames:

Is your only purpose posting here to defend John MacArthur?

If not what mistakes do you think MacArthur has made that you can point out?

Is there something he has done that you disagree with, which you can comment about here?

Sorry, rrmoderator, I didn't see that you posted this. I thought the reply came from gtw?

There are things I don't agree with MacArthur about. Starting with the fact that he's a cessationist. I believe all gift of the Spirit fully function today. I believe his position is an extreme overreaction to charismatic abuses.

But because I disagree with a man over his theology doesn't mean I tear him down or defame his ministry or accuse him of being a "cult leader." Far from it!

So no, my only purpose in posting is not to defend John MacArthur. Last week, I posted on two other threads not related to John MacArthur, but those posts have not been approved.

But even if my only goal was to defend MacArthur, wouldn't that raise the level of discussion on this forum which is otherwise just people dogpiling on a church or leader they have a beef with? Do you really want to discourage any semblance of balance provided by those with a different perspective? Are you hoping to facilitate a ragefest or an open and honest discussion in pursuit of truth and healing?

JungleJames:

I have received very serious complaints about MacArthur over the years.

IMO a very authoritarian personality-driven group.

There are Christians that feel they were abused by the ministry.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion.

But it does seems like you are trolling here and attempting to attack people.

This is a safe place for those victimized by a destructive authoritarian groups.

This board is not for trolling and/or victim bashing.

To whom it may concern:

We are here to help anyone who is fighting the good fight against McArthurism. We have been wanting to help, but wasn't sure how to do it. We have also been affected by McArthurism through our family...they were manipulated into following this cult by being recruited to visit other churches throughout the world. Our immediate family was hurt by our own family because we wanted to help. We decided to take a stand and not let McArthurism take our power away...we want to act, and not be silent any longer. If there is someone who is willing to take a stand with us, we can discuss further what we would like to do.

Imagine
by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one
