...."WBC burned the Koran once - and if you sissy brats of Doomed America
bully Terry Jones and the Dove World Outreach Center until they change their
plans to burn that blasphemous tripe called the Koran, then WBC will burn it
(again), to clearly show you some things," the church announced in a
[www.ocala.com] news release this week. ...."

"....Dove World is one of the few groups to join forces with Westboro
members, who have protested at funerals across the country.

In April, a handful of Westboro members picketed outside of the University
of Florida Hillel, the Jewish student center, and Trinity United Methodist
Church, and Jones and about 30 members of his congregation joined the WBC
members outside of Trinity United. ..."

This article from a Canadian reporter makes the point that the political heavy-hitters are contributing to the absurdity of this media fuelled non-story by giving the attention-hungry Pastor importance that he does not merit.

That the Westboro loonies recognise a rolling bandwagon and jump right on it should surprise none of us.

My suggestion as a private citizen:

Anyone who does these terrible things should recieve NO news coverage.

No photos, no attention. Its like a child with a tantrum. Walk away and let the kid
scream it out with no audience.

When the Westboro people dared to show up at the funeral of Matthew Shephard, the young gay man who was tortured by two men and left outside of Laramie, Wyoming, to freeze and die in lonely crucified agony on a fence in a snowy night...

At Matthew Shepards funeral gay lesbian community created a response.

The Westboro haters showed up with their vile and horrible signs.

A group of gay and lesbian people then stood up, wearing big white feathered angels wings.

The angels stood in a circle around the Westboro people, then spread their white and wonderful wings, hiding the hateful and horrible signs behind a screen of beauty.

This was re-enacted in The Laramie Project.

The angels received the attention, not the horrible hateful Westboro signs.

NHK [National Japan News] - September 12, 2010

"Korans burnt in US on 9/11

Copies of the Koran were ripped or burnt in some places in the United States
on the 9th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks.

An evangelical Christian preacher in Florida decided not to burn copies
following protests in several countries. But 2 preachers in Tennessee set
fire to copies of the Koran, saying it is a book of hatred.

Dozens of people also burned and ripped Korans near the site of the World
Trade Center.

The AFP [France] news agency says a group of Christians ripped out pages
from a Koran in front of the White House in Washington DC.

The US government has made no official comment on the incidents. ...."

Who gives a rat's ass if anyone burns a koran or bible or flag or whatever? All I ask for is the "burner" PAY for the koran or bible or flag and get a permit for open-air burning from their town/city.

If anyone has an issue with someone burning a flag, bible or koran then it is time to GET A GRIP. Is your faith so weak that this would "shake you to your core"?

If it is, time to convert to TRULY peaceful buddhism or better still, give up religion altogether.

Its like small kids throwing a tantrum.

Let the kid throw a tantrum but dont give them the dignity of attention from the news.

Id say the Laramie Project re-enacted the best way to do it.
