Plug and Play People

by By Annalee Newitz, AlterNet. Posted January 22, 2002

Quote

'Lately I've noticed that the concept of "plug and play" has extended into the realm of human interaction.

'People talk about wanting to hire a "plug-and-play engineer" who can churn out uncreative but stable bits of Java, C++, or whatever. Or, describing somebody who is a capable conversationalist, a person might say, "She's very plug-and-play. You can put her into any group of people, and she'll come up with something interesting to say."

'And one might recommend to a friend, "Definitely take him out on a date. He's plug-and-play, if you know what I mean."

(Oh yeah, baby.)
For the rest of the essay...read here:

Even if the phrase 'plug and play' is not used, Ms Newitz' final point is worth pondering:

Quote

"And yet we are so steeped in the culture of machines that I think many of us believe that everything, even people, should be quick and easy to use."

Victor Baranco, MindFuckers, Nicole Daedone, OneTaste, Ray Vetterlein?

Another thing that is comical, is that Daedone stated to the NYT, that her Guru was in fact Ray Vetterlein, and not Victor Baranco.
Well, do a Google search for...

Vetterlein Daedone

See if you can find ONE SINGLE reference of Vetterlein's Guru connection with Daedone before the NYT article of the last week. Nothing comes up at all. Zero. Its all from this week.

Before that, Robert Kandell said she studied Victor Baranco for 7 years.
But then when the ugly facts about Baranco and Mindfuckers came out more openly, they deleted those references.

Then they try to do some post-hoc spin-doctoring, and try to deflect away from Vic Baranco, and try to connect the imaginary dots to Ray Vetterlein. Creating an imaginary past history?

Its just trying to create that distance from Victor Baranco, as Baranco used the Mark-Group, and Daedone uses the In-Group, which are the same thing. She copied so many things from Baranco, that they want to try and create an official distance, and massage history.

Why not mention Andrew Cohen too? Not clean enough?

For some reason, Daedone always seems to be "twisting" things, and screwing with the facts.
Even a casual observer can see her past story, being massaged, warped, and modified.
They are counting on the casual reader taking what they read in the newspaper as a quote at face-value, and not thinking about it, or looking into it.

Its a bad strategy, as if they ever do become successful, then the real facts will come out, and the person doing the fabrications and massages just ends up red-faced with their pants down, so to speak.
Its a good idea to stay far away from people who are always seemingly trying to screw with your mind, or body.

Daedone's biography on the personalifemedia.com page was scrubbed of references to Baranco very recently.
This is what it used to say, courtesy of Google cache:
"Daedone left her career as owner of a successful art gallery in San Francisco and began a spiritual path that started with the study of theosophy. After three years, Nicole realized she no longer wanted to practice a discipline that omitted sensuality. She segued into the sensual realm in 1998 when she joined a community that practiced and studied the teachings of Dr. Victor Baranco, founder of More University. More University focused on the practice of expanded orgasm."

One wonders why on earth the NYT fell for the Vetterlein(sp?) connection, when
there's an abundance of material, complete with citations, linking Daedone with Baranco.

Ten years ago, at a class in journalism, the instructor told us that many print media
publications no longer paid to have a full time fact checker on staff, and instead would hire free lance fact checkers, or expected journalists to do their own fact checking.

(Note: I have zero idea what the decision making was concerning the NYT article. What I am about to write is speculation--and a warning: no matter how delightful someone is, no matter how inspirational someone is--FACT CHECK 'EM.

And if you cannot be sure of your own capacity to do so, have a trusted colleague read your draft and ask them to identify any gaps in chronology or inconsistencies in case youve let these slip through. Again, in the old days, newspapers actually had fact checkers on staff to do exactly this.

Its not enough to do a Google search. One has to evaluate information, see how it fits into a chronology.

And a problem with very charming and charismatic people is they have an effect that makes fact checking them unthinkable. As in, you dont think to fact check the stuff on their resumes and hire em and later on, there's trouble.

Charming people make us feel good.

And in miserable, depressing times like the one we're in, who wants to question/fact check something or someone that has made an interviewer feel good?

Who wants to question charm? Charisma? Inspiration?

Problem is, thats the very reason why we have to remember to question it--or insist on having our rough drafts read by someone who will do this fact checking, for us.

At RR.com we do something wildly countercultural:

We question inspiration.

Its the attitude symbolized by how Odysseus coped with the song of the Sirens.

The Sirens were enchanting women who sang so beautifully that mariners would sail close to the rocks and wreck their ships.

Odysseus arranged have all his sailors plug their ears with wax before they sailed past
the island of the Sirens. Odysseus wanted to hear their song, but knew he could not withstand the spell.

So he told his men to tie him to the ships's mast and not let him go until they were past the Island of the Enchantresses. He furthermore told them that if, while sailing past the Island, Odysseus himself begged the crew to release him, they were not to do so---they were to untie him only after the Island was out of sight.

This precaution enabled Odysseus to hear this music, but being tied to the mast and with his crewmen's ears plugged ensured they would sail past, and not steer that ship onto the rocks.

Here is the text from Jan. 2006 where Robert Kandell from OneTaste states that Nicole Daedone studied Victor Baranco for 7 years.

"She has spent the last seven years devoting her energy to the work of Dr. Victor Baronco, founder of More University." (Quote by Robert Kandell, Jan 10, 2006)

This is the same text that was removed from the main Tribe.net website after it was deemed damaging, after the ugly facts about Victor Baranco came out.
It was posted by Robert Kandell on numerous 3rd party websites, and there are even references in the comment areas to Robert Kandell. Some of these postings are reproduced below, in case OneTaste tries get them scrubbed of the internet as well, to try and cover their deep connections with Victor Baranco and his damaging manipulative methods.

Any reasonable person has to ask...why is OneTaste actively trying to cover up this connection to Baranco and minimize it?
Why are they being so dishonest?

Sound kinda compelling.

Looks like Nicole needs to work on her bio...it's very muddled and ........lacking clarity.

You may want to pass that on.

its interesting about the Plug-n-Play people, even the NYT fluff-piece referred to Baranco as an "appliance salesman". Plug and Play indeed.

Its amazing the scorn that NYT article has met from most objective people, scorn for the NYT to run such a puff-piece, and ridicule of even the basic "concepts" put forward by their OT advertising.
You can already see female sexologists shaking their heads at the idiocy OT is trying to sell.

If most women got orgasms by being groped by strange creepy men on Monday mornings, then why not just ride the NYC subway instead?

Its not about female orgasms, that is the advertising salespitch to attract attention. Its not about sexual liberation, ultimately it seems to be about sexual subjugation. People need to look under the hood, and not just listen to the marketing and advertising for this OneTaste corporation.

What is needed now, is a SPECIFIC and precise breakdown of the actual techniques and methods being used on people by OneTaste and Daedone, in their seminars.

For example, Vic Baranco, as explained, was one of the original Mindfuckers.
Why did Baranco slowly work young women into the pattern of exposing themselves, and getting sexually touched by strangers, etc?

Its basic behavioral and mental conditioning.
You take a barrier, and slowly and deliberately break down those barriers one-step at a time.
You might start with talking, then basic touching with clothes on, then some nudity, then groping, more nudity, etc. GROOMING.
Over an intensive period, its not that difficult "rewire" people's behavior and emotions, in any area.
Especially human sexuality, which is related to brain "plasticity".

So people have to be very careful about who is shaping their sexuality. To what end?

Its a similar thing they do at HAI, Human Awareness Institute [forum.culteducation.com]

Anyone can read the articles in this thread about Victor Baranco, and it got to the point of sex currency and prostitution, drugs, etc.
HETERODOXY [forum.culteducation.com]
Academy of Carnal Knowledge / Lafayette's More University class gave students 'sex currency' [forum.culteducation.com]

What was the point for Vic Baranco?
He said it himself...PROFIT.
Its was not a "commune" its was a business, for him to make money. Sex sells.
Who's sex was being sold to whom, and how?

It was your basic Guru-run, Victor Baranco Purple People Pleasure Palace for Profit.

this is why OneTaste is trying to cut itself off from Baranco.
And this is why the SPECIFIC techniques and methods on OneTaste need to be spelled out.
As one can see they are using most of the exact same techniques!

So the public has a right to know what is going on with the specific techniques that occur once you get inside the OneTaste sexual-conditioning system.

It is often a good idea when someone who is not in a one on one committed relationship to you,but is extremely keen on getting you to break down your sexual boundaries "for your own good" to figure out, exactly what is in it for them?

Have found in the past that if you ever feel like someone is trying to push you further than you want to go, it is often a good idea to say "No".
And then see if their approval/friendship or flattery is only based on whether you do what they want, or not.

And with any group that is involved in pushing sexual boundaries, it is often a good idea to ask certain questions.
1)What if someone gets pregnant? Has this happened in the past? Who provides child support and a father figure for the child? Do pregnant women stay in the group, or are they the made to leave?
2)Who checks group members for sexually transmitted diseases? And remember, if you weren't checked by the group for STD's or AIDS, then probably no one else was checked by them either.
3) What is the groups' attitude towards children ? Are they tolerated, or loved? What kind of schooling do they get? Who protects the children against other adults being inappropriate? Do parents get to raise their own children, or do other people correct the parents/tell them what to do?
(By the way, studies have shown that generally biological parents are kinder and more supportive of their children than other people who try to raise them.Even step parents, generally, are statistically more likely to be abusive towards a child than their biological parents.)

Have ran out of questions for now, but these might be things to think about.

(Below is some information that is from earlier version's of the One Taste website, there might be some interesting info here, of course one has no idea if its factual or not).

<snip>
Taosha Gardiner Event Coordinator Event Coordinator and Environment Designer for ONE TASTE, Taosha received both a Masters in Communication and a Ph.D in Lifestyles from More University in 1996. She has spent the last 21 years researching the sensual nuances of all aspects of life.
<snip>

FWIW, I checked with the registrar at Lafayette Morehouse, and there is no person named Gardiner who has received degrees from More University, and they don't remember ever awarding a Masters degree in Communication. They checked maiden names too.

I spent some time googling them, and the only reference I can find is to a 2004 SF Weekly article which lists this person as event coordinator at OneTaste.

The Wikipedia article on OneTaste is getting rigged and bastardized again, obviously by members of the OneTaste group.

OneTaste - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [en.wikipedia.org]
They just deleted relevant quotes from the NYT about Nicole Daedone. They can't do that, according to their own criteria.

So we'll see if a senior Wikipedia Admin, lets that stand.

Don't forget, there does appear to be a personal connection at some level, between OneTaste's financier and boyfriend of Nicole Daedone, Reese Jones, and Jimmy Jimbo Wales of Wikipedia. They know eachother, at least, maybe they are personal friends, maybe they even have business interests together?

We'll see if Wikipedia continues to be biased for OneTaste, and acts on behalf of OneTaste and Reese Jones financial investment in OneTaste.
If the senior Admins at Wikipedia act in a biased manner, then of course, this will all be reported to The Register, and other media outlets, which have done other popular articles on the rigging and conflict of interest in Wikipedia. There have even been articles in regards to "cults" and Wikipedia rigging.

Is the next global popular headline going to be about Jimmy Jimbo Wales, and Reese Jones, and OneTaste, and the rigging and manipulation of the Wikipedia article?
