It is also a good idea to link directly to the page in which there is a post related to a topic in the other location where you are placing the link, or at least to mention "look at the fourth post on page ## for more about this..."

Since Desteni has their unpaid labor working 20 hrs a day on the Desteni Internet Farm computers, counter-action is important.

Bernard Poolman has made a serious error though, he has until now targeted mainly young people. The problem with young people for a cultic group, is that they don't have much money, which explains why Poolman is getting so irate for more money to come in from Desteni.

In one of the interviews with Poolman and others on the Desteni farm done by the journalist from South African publication, "Rapport", Poolman said that although there were older people involved, it is mainly the younger ones who visit the farm because they tend not to have as many responsibilities that would hinder them from traveling. But while they might have enough to go on a trip to SA, as you say, Anticult, they won't have much else to invest.

To all intents and purposes, the Desteni organization itself doesn't have enough money and they can't get legal representation: [www.youtube.com]

Since he gave up smoking, Poolman ordered his followers to give up smoking and is now telling them to pledge the money they would've spent on smoking to Desteni. He's desperate.

More experienced New Wage cultic leaders like Byron Katie [forum.culteducation.com] are much smarter, they TARGET an emotionally desperate and mature demographic, people that have some money and a credit line they can exploit.

These successful New Wage scammers are much more sophisticated, they travel around the world giving workshops, write lots of books and get them distributed in mainstream bookstores, release slick, well-produced videos etc. Poolman by comparison is a total amateur, he'd never appeal to well-educated, middle-class, salaried professionals. He's too obviously a crackpot for starters.

He's stuck in one place, on the farm in South Africa, and it seems his next ambition is just to buy another farm in SA where he can get more young people to work for nothng. He's using only the internet to get followers by putting out an angst-ridden, anti-establishment message and a fake plan for a more just world. It might appeal to some alienated young folks and maybe a few misguided older ones dissillusioned with New Ageism, but it's not a very reliable method and he's making himself too inaccessible if he wants to be a proper cult leader. It's a joke. Somewhat dangerous perhaps, but nevertheless the whole project is completely stupid.

Search Google for:

"Esteni de Wet"

If someone locally can do a search and find out the REAL names of Bernard Poolman and his wife, and if it turns out they are using fake names, their hypocrisy and lies will be even more ridiculous.

There doesn't seem to be any evidence of these people before the advent of Desteni on the internet in 2007. I think we'd have to have someone come on here who actually met one or both of them face to face before they started Desteni to find out more. All we know is that de Wet and Poolman found Sunette Spies working in a cafe and offered her another job as a "portal", and it all took off from there, but obviously Poolman was involved with various other groups before then. It may be that he used a different name and that may be partly why he avoids showing his face.

So, if anyone does have any first-hand background info, please feel free to contribute to this thread.

Here is the key.
Who owns the property of the Desteni Farm?
Someone locally could go into the land-deed office and see the name on the property deed.

Right, well, it may be that it's known as the Desteni Ranch, which may be run by Esteni de Wet. Andrea Rossouw owns desteni-ranch.net, but that website is defunct.

Again, here's a picture of Poolman attached to this post.

Another cult of aliens called The Raelians [www.culteducation.com] also targets young women, and uses sexual manipulation and outrageous lies and media stunts to attract attention.

The difference there is that Rael, seems to use the young people he gets into his cult as "bait" to lure in older men who are willing to pay a lot of money for access.
Sex used to recruit Raelians [www.culteducation.com]

Since neither of those names, (Esteni de Wet, Bernard Poolman) are turning up on the internet or on Usenet [groups.google.com] before Desteni was started-up,
one has to assume that those are fake names concocted as part of the Desteni scam.

Any former members or associates who have information about this, please feel free to log on anonymously and shed more light on this issue.

Bernard Poolman promotes OSHO-Rajneesh, and the world is FULL of former Rajneesh followers who have started their own sects, and who used a different name while a member of the Osho/Rajneesh communes.
It would not be surpising to see "Bernard Poolman" and the wife were involved in some type of Osho/Rajneesh commune at some point.

Its the familiar pattern, people spend 20 years getting scammed by others sects, and then one day get fed up and start up their own racket.

A little bird has made some public record links visible.

Did a certain "Bernard George Leopold Poolman" go bankrupt in 2008?

Also a "Susara Petronella de Wet" name comes up with identical details to the "Bernard George Leopold Poolman".
Also the "Susara Petronella de Wet" is listed as having an "Insolvent estate" in March 2009.

What else is out there, using various surname combinations?

Interesting, same details as a Bernard George Leopold Poolman, with a marriage of Susara Petronella de Wet to a Frans de Wet.

A look at their forum reveals that the Desteni organization is in trouble.

So-called "agreements" (sexual relationships that are monitored by Poolman and the group) between Desteni participants are regularly falling apart or ending. People are "crashing" in their "process" and having to start again. Those who take part in any activity at all that does not fit the rules for the process are given warnings or being banned, and Poolman is threatening to throw people off his Structural Resonance Alignment course and take their money. People are resigning after realizing that hero worship of Hitler and "equal money" are stupid.

Not enough money's coming in. It's pathetic, they're having to ask for donations of money that would've been spent on tobacco if they hadn't stopped smoking. They think they can become political leaders to spearhead the fake campaign to make all money in the world "equal", but one member can't even maintain a reasonable discussion about it on a radio phone-in program and there's no evidence they have achieved anything more than that. They can't get any lawyers to back their cause.

Poolman's literally pulling his teeth out! He says he wants to see if they will grow back again.

Anyone who suspects Desteni of being a cult, such as a parent who's been asked to fund their offspring's trip to South Africa, only needs to Google it and this thread comes up. Although Poolman joined this forum and was not banned, he has declined from further participation and clearly has ordered his minions not to take part, which only shows that he is incapable of addressing the issues.

All he can think of doing is getting his followers to spam YouTube and Facebook with pictures of themselves with shaved heads going, "equal money now", "equal money now", while banning anyone who disagrees with them, as though that's going to achieve anything.

Poolman has the ridiculous idea that if his followers re-write on a piece of paper whatever a critic of Desteni has written it will help his cause. It's more likely to help his followers understand why they should oppose Desteni. "Process Support - Technique to Identify Deceivers" -- [www.youtube.com]

Though I said earlier that criticizing Desteni by resorting to conspiracy theories, New Age beliefs or a debate about abstract philosophical or spiritual ideas would be more or less useless, and that it would be better to show precisely how and why Desteni is a cult, I forgot to mention that another, possibly even more valid strategy, is out-and-out ridicule.

On YouTube Desteni channels there are quite a few new comments appearing that don't attempt to debate Desteni but rather more subtly poke fun. Some of these are quite hilarious as they employ a nicely wry and sardonic humor often it seems without the Desteni people even noticing. Then there are some amusing little videos surfacing that also counter the Desteni message in a crude but effective way, such as

HOW TO BE AN INTERDIMENSIONAL PORTAL LIKE DESTENI (that is how to join the cast of Dest.Production)

Desteni ENDGAME
[www.youtube.com]

So, perhaps similar to how the Anonymous group has successfully opposed Scientology with some tangible results, there will be opposition to Desteni and undoubtedly this will have far more of an appeal to the young target audience than Desteni ever could.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that there is no evidence at all, that Bernard Poolman believes his own bullshit about Atlantis, lizards, or anything else.
As a matter of fact, since BP teaches his followers that to believe is to beLIEve, the evidence points to Bernard Poolman NOT believing his own ridiculous belief-systems he is selling to others.

To the experienced eye, Bernard Poolman is just another in a long long line of cynical wannabe Gurus, who are DESPERATE to make some fast money, and hungry for power over other people.

If in fact they did go bankrupt in the last year or two, and lose everything, that would explain the intense "motivation" for Bernard Poolman's desperate hunger for money from his (few) followers.
You see that time and time again, with New Wage Gurus, going bankrupt makes them extremely aggressive and ruthless in exploiting their followers and the public for profits, generally sold under the scam of "saving the world" or "feeding the homeless".

The blunt reality is that there is no way that Bernard Poolman beLIEves his own ridiculous lies.
The Guru is generally cynically detached, and sees himself as a puppet-master, pulling the strings of manipulation over his followers and the public, telling the Big Lie.

The only thing positive about Desteni, is that the lesson learned from this start-up cult, can be applied to may other sects and New Wage cults on the internet, who are doing a similar process, just with different "stories" and tactics.
There are hundreds and thousands of them.
