Dear Brothers of Dharma:
As you know, our treasured and beloved Lama Ole has been subjected to a very difficult health condition in recent months. Unfortunately it seems to have no possibility of improvement, so I beg you to keep it in mind in your prayers and good wishes.
Sharing with you the message just posted by his wife Anne Nydahl.
“Lama Ole has always been transparent with us. In that spirit, I continue to share with you his current situation.
Looks like his physical condition can't improve. The moments you are awake are getting shorter and less frequent. As always, he seems to be completely at peace with everything, radiating strength and love anyway.
Sending you all my love and pray that you are ready for anything.
I also swear that that woman is crazy, probably just a gold digger tbh, she doesnt seem to have any realization or anything. She must be rly happy this is finally happening so she can finally live in peace.
It is with a heavy heart that I am reaching out to you today. This morning, our beloved teacher, Lama Ole, left his Viking body, which he tirelessly devoted to benefiting others. His passing unfolded in a completely natural and peaceful way — marked, as always, by immense love and strength.
Wherever we are, we are united in gratitude for everything Lama Ole taught us and for all he accomplished for Buddhism in the West and within our Karma Kagyu lineage.
May we cherish his extraordinary example and continue to carry it forward in everything we do.
With love,
Anne Nydahl
P.S. You are all very welcome to come to the Europe Center. After some quiet days of meditation, there will be an opportunity to pay your last respects.

I am glad that his victims can finally get some peace and he cannot harm anyone else with his sexual and financial and other forms of abuse.
I am sorrowful that he never faced any justice for the abuses he committed over several decades.
Now comes the interesting bit. Will his cult (so-called 'Diamond Way') survive the death of it's founder? Will the inner circle fall into infighting between themselves? Will a new leader take over like David Miscavige or Brigham Young figure take over?
I think the future of Diamond Way will begin to take shape in the autumn 2026. One friend of mine, who is also a former student of Ole Nydahl went to European center to give his farewell. He was surprised to find out that Karmapa spent only a couple of days there and then quickly left for Asia to attend other programs. One thing that he did notice is that Ole's widow was standing at his casket all day long and she was personally greeting everyone and hugging everyone as if to let people know who she is. His impression was that it was very awkward and that she possibly wants to be remembered as Ole's wife and mother of his daughter.
So I will make several predictions/guesses here: 1. The cogs are already turning within the organization as they already cancelled all of the programs with Tibetan teachers who come to DW. Karmapa adviced not to seek a rebirth of Ole Nydahl, so there needs to be someone else to take over and the problem of succession will need to be addressed soon. There will definitely be two groups - people who will wish that one or another Tibetan lama takes over and people who will want to retain Western (mostly their own) control. My bet is that Jan Weber will try to retain his control over the organization and he might succeed, if he does, it is over for Diamond Way in the long run.
2. Ole's widow, Anne, will definitely try to take part in decision making regarding the succession and she will try to stake a claim for inheritance - either in material form as a real estate or in the form of right of usage, for example a right to keep living in Ole's apartment with her daughter. She might also request funds for the upbringing of her and Ole's daughter.
3. There will be a last ditch effort to sanctify Ole, eventhough he has not received a cremation rites awarded to important lamas or great yogis and yoginis and was cremated in ordinary crematorium with only small circle of his surviving relatives and two Rinpoches in attendance, a proposal will be made to construct a stupa to house ashes of Ole Nydahl. I doubt that this will get any support from Tibetan lamas.
4. If Jan Weber retains his control over the organization, there will be slow but steady exodus of members and the group will become more and more fringe and weird. If Tibetan side takes over a small group or several groups of right wing fanatics will split apart and create their own organization of "Lama Ole's witnesses" :D
In any case, it will be interesting to watch what happens. I am going to stock upon some pop-corn.
