I agree. Scientology and SIF share the hallmarks of most cults. Isolation from family, surrender of free will, god-like leader, personal denigration, conviction that members are superior to others, eternal salvation. Tulsi Gabbard is like the Manchurian Candidate, hiding her obvious connections to Chris Butler and the SIF, as she worms her way into our political system. She and her families cynical shift of political affiliations and convictions show that Chris Butler will outwardly give up his deeply held conservative beliefs (homophobia) in exchange for the one thing that really matters-POWER. I'm sure the salaries of Tulsi and her staff of Butlerites will go into the Butler's coffers to pay for Mr. Butler's extravagant multi-million dollar home in Lani Kai, his bodyguards, and his power boat he uses to get out to the waves without paddling too hard. Tulsi needs to answer truthfully the questions surrounding she and her families' deep roots in this destructive cult that has ruined so many peoples lives. Tell the Truth, Tulsi!

Wai Lana claimed 248 volunteers worked a total of 145,000 hours in 2004. Ex-devotees have called this "volunteer" work nothing short of slave labor. I'd venture a guess that most of these 248 volunteers were also involved in Mike Gabbard's 2004 campaign for Congress. More on that in a moment.



Now, this next curiosity is the 2004 donation of $275,000 to none other than the Science of Identity Foundation (SIF). The batches of leaked documents that I recently posted contain evidence that SIF founder Chris Butler and his wife, Wai Lana, used SIF funds to support themselves. Chris even boasts that SIF funds are HIS money. This might be a prohibited transaction under the Code since Wai Lana was the direct beneficiary of the funds. There is no statute of limitation on tax fraud: [tax.findlaw.com]. However, there is another possible explanation for the use of that $275,000.




Many of those 248 volunteers (and, I could probably name more than half of them) live a hand to mouth existence. Some are on public assistance with no money to pay for basic necessities like car registration and insurance (from public records involving cult vehicles), yet they are expected to purchase Wai Lana products, shop at Down to Earth, and make donations to their guru, Chris Butler. They were also ordered to campaign for Mike Gabbard and make large political contributions. Where did they get the cash? Perhaps SIF funds or some other source of money funneled to them. Note that Wai Lana denies any political involvement. Were these same methods used to propel Tulsi Gabbard into her seat in Congress? Like Father Like Daughter, at least when both bow at the feet of Chris Butler.

Before I turn my focus to the financial disclosures of SIF, I’d like to draw everyone’s attention to a consistent theme in the first three batches of leaked cult documents. Chris Butler seems to be constantly testing the level of commitment of his devotees. I’ve made the point in the past that Butler lives like a drug lord: [forum.culteducation.com] Actually, Chris Butler could also be compared to a gang leader, a mafia don, and a terrorist leader. There are many criminal characteristics that are a match for Butler, but consider just one: his need to test people’s loyalty to him. We all have heard the stories about gang leaders ordering a member to shoot at a rival gang in order to test their commitment. Likewise, with terrorist leaders testing a devotee with a fake suicide bomb. Presumably, anyone disloyal or not loyal enough i.e. differing from his beliefs is excommunicated. Can we also assume that those devotees most important to Chris Butler have survived the most demanding of tests?

I suppose we’re lucky that Chris Butler hates the government otherwise we would not have access to his cult tax returns. In his attempt to avoid paying taxes, he and Wai Lana created non-profit entities which are required to make public disclosures. If they had just paid their taxes like most of us do, they would remain private tax returns. I’m going to give you access to a working folder containing some of the tax returns even though it is incomplete. An accountant is looking at the tax returns and I’ll report the results when received. Anyone who has read through the first three batches of leaked documents knows that Chris Butler called SIF funds HIS money. HIS money to support HIM and HIS Wai Lana. The tax returns do not appear to reflect the truth, but read them yourself and decide.
