Umm, while I am as skeptical of Tibetan buddhism as you are, you might want to back these things up a little bit more before posting them. Rick must be asleep or something as he'll probably delete these threads if you are just going to name people without backing up the claims.

I am saying this not because I disagree, but I suspect you are right and don't want to see these threads deleted or locked.

What do you know about Geshe Michael Roach, I have never heard anything bad about him before?

This is a problem across the entire movement of Tibetan Buddhism and the Dalai Lama:

starfish:

I have never received complaints regarding any Tibetan Buddhist group associated with the Dalia Lama.

My work began in 1982 regarding cults and cult-like groups.

No complaints in almost 25 years to date.

I guess things are changing...no religious organization is perfect. There are almost 500 million followers of the Dalai Lama today. Do you think all of them are perfect human beings? Many victims don't understand why everyone is so suprised that Tibetan Buddhists are so perfect.

Can you name a single religious organization, government, political movement, country, hollywood religious organization, refugee population in diaspora, or religious leader void of some sort of corruptive practices in this world? Isn't that human nature?

Starfish I will say that I do not have any specific knowledge regarding the Tibbetan Buddhist organisation, if you are concerned about a ack of awareness and you have information about abuse and you want something to be done about it then you can certainly try to be the someone that does it.

The media may take notice if they are approached, but they do not surf the net looking for stories, they want personal accounts or someone who is presenting to them as a dedicated researcher/activist. They are often concerned about defamation and may do stories but not name names. Websites are highly effective and although it can be difficult to get a server there are a few supportive ones about - how supportive they may be about someone who is criticising anything connected to the Dalai Lama depends on how oppositional the organisation is and how much info you have really.

Are you a former member yourself or do you have contact with others?

Chögyam Trungpa

I don't know if there are any on the database or not, but I have heard allegations made against Chögyam Trungpa, before his death. (At least, I think I remember him dying. It's been a long time.)
I know that he advocated heavy drinking at one time, and drank a lot himself. I met him. I never got into the philopsophy, period, but I think it was along the lines of "crazy wisdom".
He also took an extremely young (teenage) wife, if my memory serves me.
