The Cult of Non-Duality…as found in neo-advaita, ACIM etc.

Hello Friends…
I’ve just posted my latest post on “The Cult of Non-Duality.”

Moral-and-just, neo-advaita is NOT. The old patriarchal paradigm of abuse and control-over-others to ‘free’ people from their attachments to a ‘world’…takes the approach straight-out of the ancient Rumi (among others) play-book: "Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field…I will meet you there." These teachers literally felt that right-and-wrong – and KARMA – did not apply to them in their transcendent selves.

The real danger is in the declaration, and false claim, that this non-dual ‘realization’ was/is THE actual ‘awakened spirituality.’

Undoubtedly the claim that nonduality is some sort of cosmic realization is a lie:

"You’re told that you’ll realize Oneness, you’ll realize the nature of Ultimate Reality, you’ll realize nonduality, you’ll attain union with God, and so on. But there’s a much more down-to-earth explanation for mystical experiences. You’re not really attaining union with God or realizing Ultimate Reality. All you’re really doing is regressing into early layers of your own mind."

Also I agree with your substack post that the office of nonduality guru is inherently corrupt. It easily facilitates gaslighting "for your own good," domineering, manipulation, and exploitation.

Thank you for your comment and for visiting the website/substack.

While non-duality is certainly a 'natural truth' there have been, and are, many who are looking to cash-in on this natural state by equating this with God-realization.

Slowly-but-surely...especially with all the now obvious cultic controls and gaslighting using the very teachings to silence those reporting on harm...I feel we will see the phasing out of the top-down partiarchal dogmas and of ANY need for an external teacher.

Thanks again for chiming in,

I would go even further.

A video by Lisa Cairns titled "Losing Faith In Non Duality || How Can We Trust a Teacher When So Many Do Unethical things" came up on my YouTube feed the other day.

I haven't watched it, but I get the idea that nonduality is on the way out.

It isn't flavor of the month any more.

I've heard it called "the advaita shuffle": switching to the absolute point of view in order to evade responsibility. Perhaps Lisa is too young to realize that it's an old trick.

As soon as Lisa started off with the standard old ND stare-down I thought...yep, the same old absolutist stuff....using the *very teachings* to gaslight the ones reporting on the harm.
